 533 votesHi community, we appreciate the continued traction this idea's received, and do want to provide clarity and set expectation. Your feedback has been valuable in understanding the needs of using description only lines to; add subheadings, provide context for grouped charges, and ensure your invoices are easy for your clients to read and understand. To reconfirm, atm - You can add one-off description only lines as you enter an invoice. However, if you add detail to any other field the line will be treated as a 'financial' line and you'll need to include Qty, Unit price, Account and Tax rate. - We know some users have set up and saved inventory items for description only lines they commonly use, however as the item code field is used for inventory items the line of the invoice is treated as 'financial' meaning you'll then need to include Qty, Unit price, Account and Tax…

106 votesHi everyone, while our team considered solutions in this space with other pieces of work planned there is no current development planned for adding a notes or description field within Projects at this time. For now, as you may be aware you can add notes to the History and notes of the individual transactions within a project, or alternatively on the Contacts record. 90 votesReally appreciate those who’ve taken the time to share how this’d help in your day-to-day. We know being able to filter a Profit & Loss report by project would make it easier to understand how your jobs are performing. Right now, the best workaround is to export your data and make adjustments for this in Excel, but we get that it adds extra steps. There’s also the Profitability dashboard feature in Xero Projects, which gives a quick view of how each job is tracking, and may be helpful. We’ll keep an active eye on the interest this idea continues to build through votes, but do want to be transparent that this is not in our roadmap for the foreseeable future.  commentedWe used to use this all the time as we have bulk listed items but charge the client as one inclusive item. Taking this feature away and forcing each to be done separately has made this cumbersome and time consuming. Please bring this option back. Why it was removed in the first place is beyond understanding. 


We use this for our staff too, depending on the project needs. Some staff wear different hats so to speak for the day or the project and they swap from project to project.
I too would like to set a different staff rate per project per staff member.
