User Role - Access to Products & Services (Inventory) and Purchases/Sales only
Ability to allow individual access to inventory(products & services) and sales in Xero.
Purpose: Enable ability to view different sets of information within an org.

Thanks for all your input and sharing how we can improve Xero's user roles to cater for the needs of your business and staff you'd like to provide this access for.
As you may have seen in other ideas we've been conducting some research into user roles across all of Xero. As a step on from this, one of our teams are beginning a deeper dive into solving this idea here and enabling more roles access to Products & services (Inventory) in Xero.
While this may take sometime to accomplish we wanted to provide an update to you all interested in this, and we'll keep you informed of further progress as the team begin looking into it.

Need users to be able to update product prices without full admin user rights.

@Alfred Kirmes I don't believe they do monitor these forums. This specific issue has been ongoing forever. I found a post that was imported from a previous forum covering the same issue... They just don't care at all.

Are these boards even monitored by XERO? I have not seen a response from Xero regarding this issue.

I have just taken on a new client who has a very busy shop. I am trying to get them fully on to issuing invoices on Xero, having the products on Xero would help so much, surely this feature shouldn't be limited to people with full access alone, it's madness. Xero please can you sort this issue?

Jeni what accounts system did you move to? Xero just don't seem to care

I moved away from Xero after just 3 months as we couldn't use this without giving full financial info to floor staff, which I wasn't prepared to do..... shame, it was good apart from that!

How long do we have to wait for this? I added the comment months ago and I do not believe Xero staff have even looked at this thread. Access to inventory and the ability to update prices without all of my bank accounts is essential for my business

This is really important to us. I love most of Xero but we are close to having to look at other competitors if this can't be resolved. Is there not a solution already? I would hope that Xero Team would monitor the thread and update us if there is a work around or solution?

I completely agree with comment below. We are in the same position-our logistics manager cannot have access to inventory without access to finance.
This is an essential change -

Hi Can Xero team make this setting change as soon as possible. it is critical for us. Our logistics user must have full access to inventory at the same time they shouldn't have access to financial data. It's just a simple change to standard user access to have "Optional" access for "Bank accounts and balances".
Hope Xero team response our request ASAP. -

Can we get an update on this please?? It's been ages with no progress on what should be a basic functionality.

I fully support the above. I am in a similar position. Without the ability to restrict access to bank accounts I am unable to pass inventory management on to another staff member. I have a team member responsible for dispatch and warehousing and would like him to manage inventory as part of his role. By having to manage this myself it impacts workflow for both myself and employees, as I am not always available to action immediately and draws my time from more important tasks.

I have found the "cart blanche" user settings quite bizarre. essentially have to give sales assistant access to company financials. what the???

Agree 100%, xero needs to finetune their user permissions breaking them down to various areas of the software (Sales, Inventory, Purchases etc etc).
Funny their own product Workflow Max does this much better. You can easily tick options from a big list of permission that can be granted to staff.
Even MYOB provides this feature. This is a very basic expectation from Xero. Hopefully their development team is working on this.

We currently cannot use inventory in Xero. Most of our users are "invoice only" users and they cannot see inventory. We cannot give everyone full access just so that they can use inventory. It is disturbing that Xero doesn't have this option to begin with and it's even more disturbing that Xero is ignoring all the requests on the matter.

Agree on absolutely all counts. My stock manager has to ask accounts staff for a stock list of items every month end so he can do a stock take.
He should be able to do that himself. At the moment he can only view po's that he has created.
He should be able to see all stock po's and the bills pertaining to each order, as well as being able to view and amend stock items, all without being able to view any other areas of Xero. And I totally agree with John on 13 September, I voted for this before with the other 40 voters. Why is it being ignored??

I Agree - My clients Sales Manager needs to be able to add new inventory items as they are made available, but does not need to see the bank accounts/transactions where they can what amounts othe people in the business are receiving,
There should be roles that cover - operations as in sales, purchases, inventory, client records / then Financial Reporting - all reports except Banking / and also Financial FULL to have a view of everything. Within each to be able to select which reports/areas they can see.
XERO - when will there be an update as this could be mean an accounts system provider changer for my clients to a system that allows selective access to each business area.
I cannot fathom out why you would want a standard user to have access to the Business Finances. -
