Projects - Notes or Description field in Projects
Add notes/description field in Xero Projects.
Purpose: To have a better record of the Projects. E.g. notes about the quotes that users’ sent to their client/customer.
Hi everyone, while our team considered solutions in this space with other pieces of work planned there is no current development planned for adding a notes or description field within Projects at this time.
For now, as you may be aware you can add notes to the History and notes of the individual transactions within a project, or alternatively on the Contacts record.
We're continuing to watch this space and will share if there is any progress.

Being able to add notes to individual Projects is in my view critical .. so that the Project Manager can record notes of issues or steps that still need to be completed to complete the Project. All it needs is a simple note pad \ text field attached to each Project (say up to 500 characters),

This is a very disappointing response as the existing Project information is extremely limited. There needs to be the option for a Project number/reference field and Address at the very least. The single field of 'Project Name' is completely insufficient.

This is disappointing as being able to add cost estimates, contracts to a project is basic in my opinion and a good way to have everything at our fingertips especially when doing invoicing. having notes on another page isn't very helpful when you aren't in that page when doing particular things.
Please reconsider this as it's not a major upgrade to put in just functionality. -

What do the Xero team have against making much needed improvements on Projects. There are issues on Projects (like this one) that should have been resolved before even rolling it out.
Shame on you Xero, we don't need anymore ways to make the Reports look pretty, the bookkeepers need these fundamental issues resolved ASAP. -

This is very disappointing and seems the Xero team are determined to push its users away by not responding positively to requests for additional functionality. It now means I will have to action looking for a new projects solution for my client.

Can't quite believe that there is no way of recording Notes/adding document backup to a project! Seems ludicrous really.

I would also like to be able to attach important project docs to a project - eg engagement letter with client, statement of work, etc..
Also I would like to be able to enter more detail in the project - eg progressive project phase deadlines and budgets for each phase..

I would like notes to help track the different stages of the project and project manager field notes that are important to understand the flow of work for future reference.

This feature would be really useful for me so that I can make notes of variations to projects which re fixed cost, for example extra hours, materials so that when I invoice the job I have a record within Xero Projects of these things. currently I need to remember them or note them down so I don't forget. I would also use this to enter a description about the project and any specific notes that may be useful to look back on.

This is surely not very hard to add? Xero has notes for invoices and quotes etc. already... we need to add a notes section in the projects!! Our technicians need to be able to log notes onto a project for any issues that may arise or so that they can view any notes admin has added regarding a job.

Having a Notes section to be able to record Order numbers, contact details & other important information would be SO much easier, this is the only thing on the otherwise perfect Xero that I'm struggling with.

I would go further and date stamp notes so you can have multiple notes against a project. As there may be multiple conversations held between an initial quotation and approval to proceed, this would help any subsequent team members understanding the history of conversations made with client prior to approval. Also helps with tracking when follow-ups with a client were held.

Very much needed along with options for projects address and order number. The project set up is far too basic

Please add this, notes are critical to getting bills paid and aligning to Scope of Work.

Would love to be able to write notes on a project for team to view

Notes in projects is a must......

It would be really helpful to be able to add notes in projects for billing. For example to be at the top of the Tasks and Expenses in case you have to do something particular to the invoice on a particular month or even monthly.

Would be a great addition! Great communication for all staff to view that are working on the project. Being able to add images to the notes would be good too.
Time stamped notes is a must with the users name that made the note.
The ability to Pin a note would be very helpful too. So anything major throughout the project duration everyone can see the note.
A really good feature would be the ability to select what level of access can see the note. Or notes or the Profitability page can only be seen by staff with full access and notes on the main page everyone can see.
For example, I have a project that I would like to add a note to now explaining why it hasn't been closed, as it is an old project that is waiting on something. But that something is taking forever and everyone keeps forgetting why it is still open.

Notes field is critical to usability. Currently having to retain information offline and cross-reference which limits the usability of Projects for our clients companies.
