Xero Expense - Assign Approver for multiple submitters

Would love to see the option to assign an expense approver to multiple expense submitters or even an 'Approvalmax' approver matrix function added to Xero Expenses. Currently using Xero Expenses to administer over 100 employees expenses and need stronger controls than central finance approving all. Happy to help design/ test!

Hi everyone, we appreciate the number of users that'd like to see more mechanisms to assign and control who approves specific employee's claims.

Our product teams have a close eye on this idea, and while this feature is not in the roadmap atm, they'll keep reviewing this as they continue to plan and prioritise work for Expenses. So, if there us any shift in status we'll share an update to keep you all informed on the idea, here.

    This is essential. Not being able to set an approver for submitters means we will look elsewhere to manage expenses.

    This will not matter much to very small businesses, but the larger the company, the more critical this feature is going to be. We are new to Xero and the only feature that we are needing from your top tier license is Xero Expenses. And probably half of the value that I was wanting was to be offload the expense approval process to the employee's manager. But without pending approval notifications to an employee's manager, this really is not possible and the burden of manually getting approvals for employee expenses will still fall on accounting. This is definitely not where it belongs and hope that Xero enhances this functionality soon.

    I will also put a plug in for adding a default mileage rate. This should be very simple to add and would prevent the employees from having to remember the mileage rate each time they enter a mileage expense.

    Permission for expenses approval for specific employee groups only
    We would like to be able to set permissions so managers can approve leave and expenses for employees they manage, but not see/approve expenses for employees in other groups

    I need managers to be able to approve expenses for people in their team, but it creates confidentiality problems if these managers can then see everyones expenses, incl our directors/other managers, and approve their own.

    It would be really helpful if we could set permissions for both leave and expenses approval for specific employee groups only. Ideally also a setting so these "intermediate" permission holders can't approve their own expenses or leave.

    This is essential. We cannot run Xero expenses and have adequate business controls in place for our parent company without this feature.

    Yes, need to assign an Approver to all users. So user X claim is approved by user Y and user A is approved by user B.
    A much needed basic addittion.

    This is a big must for bigger companies, where other business information is sensitive and not professional for others to see.
    Being able to limit what each approver sees and the ability to be able to select certain employees to approve for is a must!!

    We've just added this to our subscription. This is a basic requirement so not being able to set an approver for submitters may determine whether we continue or have to find an alternative.

    At the moment my business use ApprovalMax for approvals for invoices and purchase orders, however, Xero hasn't made an API within expenses. Therefore ApprovalMax cannot create an approvals process for expenses. It would be great if they could, especially since ApprovalMax is very inexpensive. I have made this a suggestion but it hasn't had much traction.
