We need second approver by payday super or this is going to be a disaster.

With superannuation payments becoming due on payday, this is going to prove very difficult when the authorised person is away overseas for example, without access to their text messages, or god forbid, seriously ill. This will make it impossible to make superannuation payments on time.

With payday super coming into effect July 1, 2026 it will be imperative that the super batch is approved on the same day. Currently, only one designated person can authorise the superannuation payment batch. If they are away on leave or unwell, this will create a problem. Can you please allow additional approvers to be added?

Also needs to be considered a 2nd authoriser from the angle of 2 to sign for any bank transfers. A form (completed at registration of authoriser) is insufficient for dual signatories - perhaps ok if always the same $ amount but when the amount changes it MUST be authorised by 2 people before release from bank.

As per all the other comments, Xero needs to get their backsides in gear now before this becomes an issues for everyone. I work remotely. I want to go on holidays and not have to take work phone with me to give code to boss to be able to authorise super payments. Monthly is hard enough let alone when weekly comes in next July. Wake up and get moving Xero. This is now critical. 2 people need to be able to authorise. URGENT ATTENTION REQUIRED, THIS IS NO LONGER A REVIEW IT NEEDS TO BE AN IMMEDIATE ACTION. THANKS XERO - LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING SOME IMPROVEMENTS NOW.

Totally agree with Michelle's comment below. Pay Day Super compliance will definitely need at least two people who can authorise super payments due to the fact that staff and employers need to take holidays and may not be able to authorise the super when payroll is processed. Legislation has just passed that Pay Day Super will be law from 1st July 2026 and only allows for 7 calendar days for the Super to be paid after a payroll is processed. This Xero issue should get urgent priority.

With pay day super coming into effect soon, this needs to be addressed. Many businesses process their own payroll although will need help with super. Having a trusted alternative user to authorise super will help with the added compliance.

I work in a company with 2 people. Even for me, there's no way I want super payments to be disable because I'm on leave. How do big companies handle this ? Can the approval code be directed to an email instead ?

This needs to happen before payday super becomes a reality. Otherwise it gets tricky to go on leave or have Christmas shut downs.

Agree with the dual signatories option for this. Would be better to have this facility.

Also needs to be able to handle dual signatories (2 approvers) as many bank accounts are set to 2 to approve - this needs to be managed within Xero as well.

Interesting cut and past response, identical to the January response. This does not give any comfort that Xero is taking this critical problem seriously.

Come on Xero this is such a basic requirement that should have been there in the first place. Saying “it’s something they will continue to review” is just a fob off. You need to do better with such fundamental requirements as more then one person authorising super payments, it’s just common sense and an easy fix.

Need an additional Authoriser ASAP - unable to pay as current authoriser is on leave

This is a must. It should be available for each user.

This is a must especially when from July 1st 2026, superannuation will have to processed every pay run. If I was sick, then my back up needs to be able to process super without having to muck about changing authoriser.
Preference would be that it's connected to the person logged in eg If I'm logged in and process super my details are there. If my back up is logged in, their details are there so they receive the authorisation code.

In case of leave but also in case of emergency or if something unexpected happens to original person, we need quick easy backup options for business continuity

This is absolutely needed in case of leave

It would be useful to have the ability to have multiple authorisers for automatic superannuation. This would be great for our larger clients who have this option for other systems.

We will start to have similar issues when we start switching superannuation over to Xero from ATO clearing house. Some clients/owners will want to keep their mobile number as the primary user. For us to lodge super we will need to interrupt the client to get the information. Some of our clients are really bad at responding to emails & phone calls as they travel a lot for work.

As some others have stated some softwares & superfunds already have this feature so we may look into alternatives in the future.
