just like overtime wages, it's important to separate unused annual leave paid from regular annual leave paid because this will enable accountant to quickly cal-check whether super guarantee has been calculated/set up correctly. it's impractical or inefficient if we have to check all the pay item settings.

I have a staff member working a 9 day fortnight not on an RDO arrangement. It would be great to have a 'week 1' pay template and a 'week 2' pay template. We pay our staff weekly not fortnightly.

Payroll: Provisions for Annual and Long Service Leave
We need to know how much to provide for on the balance sheet for annual leave and long service leave each month and track these for our financial statements. All the information is available via Xero payroll (leave balances and pay rates for each employee as well as leave accrued and leave taken) but in order to account for this correctly we are expected to export reports and do the calculations ourselves. And we need to maintain external files to reconcile this to each month.
If Xero is offering a payroll and leave tracking function it should ensure the accounting entries for that function are captured correctly. This includes leave expenses and leave provisions / accruals.

AU Payroll - Bulk add once-off bonus/payments in a pay run
Bulk issuing a once-off bonus payment to employees. Instead of updating each pay template individually with the additional pay item, the ability to add this during a pay run would save a lot of time. Being able to select who to add it to or edit them once it has been added to all the pay templates would also help this process.

NZ Payroll - I would like a report that shows annual leave taken, any adjustments made to the leave balance and a final total of leave owing. I do not think there is anywhere that shows if an change has been made to someone's leave balance

When I review payroll I want to know if the employee is casual, part-time, full time or contractor.
I want to know the typical hours worked in the payslip cycle so as to determin whether overtime entitlements apply.

Xero sends email alerts when a bank account numbers is changed. Can it also send an email alert when an employee's leave conversion balances have been changed? This will alert fraudulent leave balance adjustments by unscrupulous staff / management.

Employee payroll theft!
All hail Xero's payroll audit trail. It just saved my skin.An employee manager with full control and access has sneakily amended her accrued leave opening balances in her employee card - 2 times. 150 hours increased all up. It is impossible to detect something like that from our end.
We process payroll but don't do ongoing checks on opening balances to see if they have been fiddled with. Normally, no one would touch that part of Xero.
The manager enters and approves all leave requests before we process payroll. So we had no idea she was bumping up her leave balances. She had her own log in so the audit trail clearly shows she made the changes to the opening balances. Which clears my team and I !
Is there a way for Xero to implement an email warning if someone changes the payroll opening leave balances?
Similar to the warning when someone changes bank account numbers. Some sort of red flag would be great so it brings it to attention.
It's so easy for this type of theft to occur.
I would never have imagined such a sneaky way to get cash from a business.

AU Payroll - Add 'Date of Birth' column to Employee Remuneration Report.
This will allow for easy review of an employee's age alongside their current payrate and adjustment post birthday. Currently, I run two reports, Employee Contact Details and Employee Remuneration Report, export to excel and merge to allow cross reference of all information. The remuneration Report would also benefit from having all wage categories to select if needed, ie: Saturday Rate, Sunday Rate, Public Holiday Rate etc. Negating the need to access each employee pay template to check correct rates have been set up.

Add an automated time record of the time that the timesheet entry was recorded. We can then ensure that our team are entering their timesheets throughout the day as they work on files.

AU Payroll - Calculate future leave balances for employees
For permanent employees, all XERO business customers should be able to calculate their future leave balances. This will allow a business owner to know if they can approve the leave or not, or what conversation to have with a team member.
I hope this idea is backed and implemented.

AU Payroll: Allow allowances to contribute towards other leave rates
With separating the All purpose allowances. Is there going to be a selection for SICK LEAVE and RDO in the future? (Currently Contributes to Annual and Overtime) only. There is a lot of room for error when you have 50 employees and you have manually adjusted the rate for every single employee!! I'm sure we are not the only company that has RDO and Sick Leave where the all-purpose allowances need to be included in the base rate. Could you please Add this option to the allowances pay item. We are unable to continue with STIP Phase 2 unless this happens.

Send a link to on board new employees info ie TFN, bank accounts, super account and all personal particulars to get them ready for a pay run.
