  1. Under the employees deductions sections during payroll, if one has salary sacrifice, child support, and any other deductions, you have to process the pay run initially. And then you would have to manually do a separate payment to a payee

    Is it possible to have a payee that can be linked to the payroll deductions. Meaning when you run your payroll, the deductions will go against the payee and when the payroll aba file is created, the payee will be included in that aba file

  2. When a staff member has a HECS debt or other Student Loan selected AND is salary sacrificing - the Student loan amount is only calculated on the GROSS amount AFTER the salary sacrifice however when the staff member has gone to do their tax return, they have a tax bill because the ATO looks at the taxable income as an amount INCLUDING the salary sacrifice so via Xero not enough PAYGW has been withheld - can this be amended?

  3. Include a new field in Payroll Employee data with employee number. Employees will have a unique identifier in Xero. For any new employees, Xero will generate a unique number.

  4. When go in to view/approve timesheets have the ability to set a default pay calendar to use (currently all pay calendars including archived pay calendars come up). And the pay calendar for last week (defaults to the current week which means need to scroll down and repeat each time you view/check a new employee). Not very time efficient

  5. Weekly Payroll calendars and get paid monthly.

    It would be advantageous if timesheets can be submitted daily and approved daily.
    Reason: approved cannot remember hours staff worked last 30 days. approver has to make a note of hours and then refer to notes when approving timesheets submitted.

  8. Please adjust the Leave Authorisers in Xero Me to be the employees in the business with Payroll Admin &/or the Authority to Approve Leave.
    Currently all user with PAyroll Admin are available for selection - which includes ALL advisors.
    As an accountant - we are having to revoke our access to a client's payroll to ensure that the staff in the client's business cannot select the accountant's staff members to approve their leave.

  9. I want to be able to archive or delete old, previously processed timesheets. In the timesheets section, processed timesheets from 2018 continually rise to the top and it is annoying and time consuming to always change the sorting order to find the most recent, or filter via a start date. This is all annoying. I want to remove old or previously processed timesheets from this list, or at the very least, have recent timesheets/those waiting to be processed automatically listed at the top.

    From your idea it sounds as if you'd like employees to be able to submit timesheets with start & end times and different earnings rates, Nathan? This isn't possible atm.

    However, an option here where you're dealing with multiple earnings rates for an employee is to get them to submit timesheets using the 'Total hours worked'. This'll let them;

    • record the number of hours worked per day, including partial hours
    • record time spent at different earnings rates and tracking categories if used.

    Your employees may need to edit the timesheet setting, by opening Xero Me, going to Timesheets > Settings and selecting 'Total hours worked'.

  12. When looking at the Pay Run / Pay Run History page, please add number of employees in each pay run to the overview. We report on this each pay period and would make more sense to be shown here then having to click into the pay run or

  13. Currently you are able to select the tax scale Horticultural/Shearers but there is no default tax rate attached. Apparently if employee falls under this scale you need to select for reporting to ATO which means you have to then manually calculate tax when you do the pays which is not possible if you have multiple employees knowing which employee wants what rate as they all do not use the default. This also leads to errors if not picked up it doesnt calculate automatically. May I suggest that we urgently attention to have the default ATO tax scale rate included with…

  14. In Sage, we used to be able to run a report that allowed us to export all our employees hourly rates, so yearly pay rises were easy to plan from.
    There isn't a way to do this in Xero - so my suggestion is to have a payroll report, similar to the employee details report, that allows you to see all employees hourly rates.

  15. There is a new feature on Xero Payroll that creates employee numbers automatically on employee creation. A great new feature, it gets my vote. It would be good if this worked for bulk import, e.g. by setting the employee number field in the import as blank. (When I tried this it didn't work).

  16. Currently Xero is set up to nil off both the Employer NI Expense GL and Liability GL as soon as payroll is run because employers NI contribution is always setoff against HMRC allowances.

    However, it is important to have employers NI contribution cleared only when remittances are made to HMRC and when HMRC send allowances (which is always a month accrued). The allowances are setoff against the employers NI expense GL.

    This treatment will allow the accountant to respond to remittances made to HMRC in terms of employers NI and allowances received from HMRC accordingly.

    Are Xero considering providing a Gender Equity report in the future?
    I raised a case for our HR Dept last year and the answer from Xero was no.
