  1. Allowing the payslips to be emailed before posting to HMRC to check for any errors would be great. We have multiple users involved in the payroll data input and there are usually one or two errors as there are many expenses claims. Being able to do this would make life so much easier for us.

    Thanks for your interest and feedback on this idea, everyone. Currently, you can View Payslips from within the draft pay run by clicking into Options > View Payslips.

    From here you could download and email the payslips from outside Xero.

    Though no plans at present, if anything changes in this space, we’ll update you on this idea.

  2. It would be useful if payslips could be scheduled to be posted to Xero Me on a date after the payroll is run. Eg you may run the payroll mid-month but want employees to be able to see their payslips on the date the payment is made at the end of the month.

  3. Allow set up of payroll whilst waiting for agency status to come through from HMRC.
    Currently wont allow you to pass the HMRC page and start setting up payroll until you have agency access

    Hi community, appreciate the idea here. 


    Although you do need to enter Office/Reference details through payroll setup these can be updated later on.

    Instead, you can enter 'dummy' details. Then once you receive the correct credentials return to update these. 😊

  4. The ability to be able to print out a breakdown for the employee of their payments for SMP and how Xero calculates them. This is available in other payroll software

  5. At the moment Xero Payroll calculates OWE by using information from the pay template only. Xero Payroll also recommends use of minimum hours as best practice, and allowing the hourly rate to lift if the average is higher than minimum hours. Works well. However, many employees have minimum hours and work more hours regularly, but they don't always work the same number, they might have periods of more work, and other periods of less. This means they don't actually have Standard Hours, and according to the legislation, OWE should be calculated from a 4 week average, not just taking "Standard…

  6. The problem is if you set a deduction item in payroll on Xero it doesn't give option to pick P&L nominal account, where reimbursements to employees should be coded. The only work around are journals, which is ineffective when you have clients posting payroll themselves and they need management reports each month, so you have to reanalyze and repost their payroll.

  9. Timesheet - Earnings Rate viewing space needs increasing
    Why is the space so small to view the earing rate selected, most earning rates are much longer than the space provided, which is creating issues to clarify if the rate selected is correct. And creating additional time required to check the correct rate has been entered or pulled through from scheduling software.
    Please widen this space, there is plenty of room as there is excess room in the Tracking area or the page actually widened.

  12. Please allow payments to be made to an employee after they have left and their P45 has been generated. Sage, for example, allows you to include past employees in a pay run and tick a 'payment after leaving' box which gives the correct 0T tax code and produces the correct FPS submission for HMRC. This is a very basic part of payroll that needs to be included in this system, the option to create a new employee file in order to pay them is not complying with HMRC and is not an acceptable alternative.

  13. It would be good if you could go into 'Pay Employees' and next to the STP - Filed or not filed it would be good to have 'Payslips Emailed'. I have no way of checking / double checking if I have sent them.

  15. It is better to not to have annual salary for casual employees in their pay sheets and also in the remuneration report in Xero as it is not a reliable figure to have in.

  16. When Bank or Superannuation details are changed for an employee, Xero sends an alert to the Admin/Account owner of the account. The employee details who have changed should also be sent an email alert.

  17. Xero cannot current cope with companies that have more than one pension scheme. The upload I need to send to the pension provider includes payroll number, pensionable earnings for period, start date and date of birth. It would be useful if Xero had the ability to add these and additional fields if required customised in the contribution report.

  18. Xero Payroll Journal non-cash option for the Cash Summary

    Currently all transactions from the Payroll Journal will pull through to the Cash Summary Report. The information that pulls through doesn't differentiate what has being paid from a bank account or non-cash.

    Suggestion to add a functionality in Xero Payroll and exclude certain items from the Payroll Journal from automatically showing in the Cash Summary Report.

  20. Recommendation for the Payslips: Can Xero add some features on the payslips to include employer PAYE Reference. This is quite an important element, and most of the other payroll software provides this information.

    Also, can Xero include some options to include some colour in the payslips, such as changing the grid area to blue colour
