  1. Being a start-up company we claim R&D refund as part of our tax return. In order to support R&D activities we need to work out employee remuneration and hours to support our claims. Currently, Xero does not have any R&D reports that we can use. Hence, I am wondering whether the Tech team at Xero can include two fields (Column options) in the existing report "Payment Summary Details".

    The fields required are 1) Superannuation 2) Units (worked hours)

    Then we can export this report to work on our R&D claims. Thank you

  2. Given that there is already a link between Pay Runs and Timesheets, it would be very helpful if the Pay run could recognise what days have time entered on the timesheet then it would recognise if an employee worked on a Public Holiday and then by default record 1.5 times and add the lieu day to alternative holidays.
    This is something that my clients miss regularly as they expect Xero Payroll to do this for them.

  3. I have an employee with two bank accounts - Bank Account 2 currently has a dollar amount going to it, and Primary Bank Account has the balance. The employee would like to swap which one is getting the dollar amount and which the balance. I'd like to do this with a button.

    Instead I have to do it manually, copying and pasting field by field.

  4. Currently in XERO if you use more than one Ordinary Time Earnings Pay Item per employee the Annual Salary Calculation on the Payslip is incorrect. Using more than one is useful as there are some employees I like to apportion to 2 x areas. Example: It might be 1 day a week on Admin 4 days on Production. Whilst we can do this currently in XERO, as noted above the Annual Salary is incorrect.   5. When adding a Director to payroll midway through the year the status can only be set to 'Annual'
    It would be great if we were able to choose either 'Annual' or 'Alternative' Setting a new director on 'Annual' in January has affected their NI contributions. On Annual the NI does seem to vary but sort its self out by the end of the tax year. It just means paying more NI for a period of time.

  6. Add YTD figures for (recurring) reimbursements on an employee"s Payslip, such as non-reportable travel allowances (paid as reimbursements).

    I followed a Xero direction to process non-reportable travel allowances as reimbursements, as it ws creating discrepancies in our BAS (even though include in W1 was not checked).

    For an employee not to be able to see their total YTD renumeration on their payslip, including these reimbursements, is disappointing (particularly as it won't show on their EOFY payment summary).

  7. Ability to show or report the variances/differences between the draft payrun and the prior period payrun.
    This would save a huge amount of time going through each payslip to ensure the usual pay is being processed and nothing has been accidentally added or missed.
    Especially when you have a large number of employees.

    Hi team, while it's not possible to view the previous pay periods figures for comparison in the current pay period, you could open the previous pay period overview in a separate browser window. Meaning you can compare the two pay runs without having to go back and forth between them.

  9. Payroll UK Student Loans
    Some employees can have Plan 1 and 2 at the same time. At present Xero payroll can only deal with 1 plan. The option should exist for an employee to select more than 1 Plan and the correct deductions be made.
    This is how repayments are allocated between Plan 1 and Plan 2 loans
    For the 2023/24 tax year the repayment thresholds are as follows:
    • Plan 1 loans: £22,015
    • Plan 2 loans: £27,295
    If you earn below £22,015 you will make no loan repayments.

  10. Please can you send the name of the 'leave approver' to Finlerts LeaveCal integrated app. We get leave approval email notifications via their Xero add on and it would be really helpful to know the name of the person that approved a staff members leave application.
    There has been cases of team leaders with leave approval permissions authorising their own leave so this would help us monitor these situations.

  11. We would like to suggest an enhancement to the Xero payroll software that could significantly improve its functionality for our company.

    Currently, Xero offers download options for various pension providers, but we've noticed that True Potential is not among them.

    We propose the addition of a CSV download option specifically for the True Potential pension provider.

    Given that Xero already possesses the necessary data, incorporating this feature would eliminate the need for manual data entry and formatting, reducing the risk of errors and saving valuable time.

  12. UK Payroll: Leave / Sick Days
    Xero payroll nearly always miscalculates sick pay and absence deductions if staff are paid an annual salary for two reasons;
    1) It works on average number of days in a month when month vary in working days every month and recalculates an inaccurate hourly rate from which it deducts absence (sometimes this is in favour of the employee but more commonly isn't) meaning that it often deducts too much from them and has to be manually recalculated.

    Hi everyone, I wanted to confirm with the release of working patterns this is now possible 😊

    Working pattern templates create default work schedules for employees to ensure they are paid and accrue leave correctly, as part of their salary and wages settings.

    You can now; 

    • Create or select from working pattern templates
    • Add working patterns manually or using the template
    • Setup multiple weeks of a working pattern

  13. Many of my clients prefer a 37.5 hour work week (7.5 hours a day) to a 38 hour work week (7.6 hours a day).
    I am able to set the leave accruals to a 7.5 hour day but the standard work week in "'Assign default leave types" is always 38 hpw and I have to manually change it to 37.5 to match the leave accrual.
    I can remember to do this but many of my clients do their own employee set-up and will not remember to change that 38 hour work week to 37.5 each time they set…

  14. We have requested Downloadable P11's to be made available so we can correct a mistake a previous Xero payroll provider made.
    This is not available in Xero which is causing considerable inconvenience and a lot more manual work.

    This would be a really good idea if this was brought into the payroll package.

  15. When an employee has a postponed autoenrollment the pension doesn't prompt or show up until just before the payment run has been posted. Making any prior payroll reports and payslips incorrect as the pension then tags on at the end. So reports then need to be reprinted and balanced again.

    Can the prompt no show up at the start of the pay run? This will then save any duplicated reports and potential incorrect payments.

    Also the pension filing report viewable before the RTI posting.

  17. Hi There, curious to know, does Xero provides report 63 days payroll liability report. This is needed to accrue for the liability at the end of each tax year, since IRD allows this accrual to be accounted, with one condition, if the company has paid the staff with in 63 days from the end of each tax year. I know, this report is availabe by the other payroll software. Can this report be extracted from payroll reports.

  18. It would be very helpful if any super that has had the 'Mark as Paid' applied was also shown on the superannuation status page and also on the Superannuation Payments Report too. It is a collaborative QA, transparancy/visibility thing that would be very helpful given we have clients, BASAgents, Bookkeepers and Accountants all trying to make sure a client meets all obligations so showing this would provide good clear confirmation as to what has occured no matter which 'advisor' with permission logged in - we can all support each other this way.

  19. When reviewing the 'Account Transactions' report in Xero there is an ability to filter by 'Source' type. However, only the 'Select all' option includes Payroll Expense Journals.

    Considering I can filter around every other transaction type, I don't see why Payroll Expense Journals can't be added as a source option?

    I know exporting to Excel works as a workaround - but considering every other source type is available adding one more shouldn't be difficult?

    Hi team, appreciate recent feedback when we recently merged this idea to this one. Understand that there's a bit of a difference in what's being asked between the two ideas, and we've unmerged to continue to track these ideas separately. 

    Being open there are no current plans to add a filter for Payroll expense journal to Source, however we will continue to get a sense of the interest in this and let you know if any progress is made, here.

    Thanks for your suggestion, Lynn. There are no plans to streamline ending employment or adding employee end dates for our Global Pay Run product.

    Currently, you can archive the employee’s contact in Pay Run - This way the contact won't appear in future pay runs, but you can still access their payment history.

    Pay run is a lightweight, simple payroll tool for paying a few employees in your base currency, as well as running pay reports and managing basic employee information. If you need a more full-featured payroll experience in the global version of Xero, we'd recommend checking out payroll app partners.
