  1. The new notes section is a good idea one of which I suggested however its really not very freindly to use.
    its buried at the end of the contact detail which means you have to navigate here.
    The window is far too small - want a lot larger window at least 3 times the current box size which would make it easy to see and edit.
    Would like it to appear on the invoice page so that one can see and edit as necessary when creating invoices.

    Hi Peter, good to get your feedback on this feature and though we appreciate hearing the changes you'd like to see it's good to keep each idea on a separate thread so we can get an understanding of the interest for each alone that the team can consider. 

    We have an idea surrounding the ability to view contact notes when invoicing over here that I'd recommend joining, and have adjusted the title of your idea here to reflect your first ask of moving this notes section somewhere it could be more readily edited on their record. You're welcome to start new ideas for each of the additional points you've made here. 

  2. Contacts. I would like to say the upgraded version of contacts is clunky, and would prefer the older system over this 'new upgraded' system. Having to 'save and exit' before adding all other contact details is adding more steps to an otherwise simple process. Thanks

    Hi Vashte, appreciate change can take a little getting used to.

    However, we can help you out here! While the Save and exit is always available when adding or editing a contact you can simply click through each section. 

    The detail you enter between section will hold until you leave the page - So, you can enter in all your details before selecting Save and exit. 

  3. Using the new Contracts form, when verifying a subcontractor, you are now asked to enter the CIS Tax Rate (Gross, 20% or 30%) before you verify the subcontractor.
    You cannot save and verify with HMRC unless this field is completed. Without verification, you cannot be certain as to the tax rate.

    The error could occur where you choose a rate for the purpose of being able to 'save and verify'. If the verification failed and you required to speak to the contact, or in most cases wait for HMRC to add a subcontractor to the CIS scheme which is currently…

  4. As an Xero customer, I would like to be able to add Instagram as a contact field within organisation details, so that I can easily direct customers to my Instagram page.

    Instagram is becoming more popular than facebook, twitter and websites for certain industries.

  5. It would be handy to be able to customize the view screen on the contacts screen within Xero. Ie add additional columns - a payment column? It would be a lot easier to have a visual of payments received rather than having to click on the invoice or run a statement against the client to see when payment was last received / paid. It would also be handy to have an item column that includes payments. As well as an option to reconfigure the column order, Ie. Date in first column.

From within your contact details or Quote or Invoice - why not have the functionality to communicate to a client via WhatsApp or send the Quote or Invoice via WhatsApp. If you are in the construction industry, acknowledging that not everyone is in construction, the craftsmen you work with only gets to Mail and acceptance of quotes in the evenings. WhatsApp's they respond to easily and quickly ....

  8. Could there please be a facility to post journals between contacts (either supplier or customer) for example between BT Telecom and EDF energy
    Currently there is only the facility to post journals between nominal ledger codes.

    Hi Julie, could you explain a little more the scenarios in which you'd be looking to make use of a this sort of functionality?

    At present - if the transactions has originally be assigned to the wrong contact this can be edited. 

    Understanding more of the use case may help us find another solution for you here, although I don't want to be open that we don't have plans for enabling transfers between contacts.

  10. The ISO 3166 country name for "United Kingdom" is "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (the)", which is 58 characters. We are currently unable to use this name for our contacts as Xero throws an error (both in the UI and API).

    Please consider increasing the country name maximum length to at least 60 characters.

  11. When a Xero customer is creating an invoice for another Xero customer - why not allow this to automatically show up in the Bills section, if the receiver agrees to this. Would save a heap of time and coding.

    Hi team, sorry we have not engaged with this idea before now. I'm pleased to confirm that this idea is already a feature within Xero.

    If a user is in an eInovicing region(AU, NZ or UK) and has registered to receive eInvoices, once you add them as the Contact to your invoice the option to 'Send as an eInvoice' will appear.

    For non-eInvoicing regions the option to send via the Xero network is available and your customer will be able to share their Xero network key with you to send with this option - This option is currently available from the Awaiting Payments list screen, however we're currently developing the ability to send with the Xero Network from within an invoice and you can stay updated on this delivery here.

  12. Having the option to show client or supplier on invoices.

    Purpose: Eliminates the need to go to contacts tab each time to look up the phone number to contact the person while going over the invoices. Also for the delivery person to be able to reach the receiver at point of destination or to make an arrangement for receiving as well.

    From the Contacts page you can already click the quick link to the official ABN lookup page to verify a number yourself. Our product team have reviewed the commentary here and appreciate that the ability to do this from within Xero would enhance the process, however at this stage there are no firm plans or timelines surrounding this.     Hi everyone, we thoroughly appreciate hearing where our users would like to see change across Xero. We also hear feedback through many other sources, and realistically while we’d love to, we simply cannot work on all things at once. Our product teams must make hard choices on where, and what to develop everyday, to continue delivering consistently high value to our customers.


    That being said, there are no plans to make Xero a fully functioning email system for communicating with your contact base, like what’s being asked here. Focus for the team at present is needed on more critical projects, such as building on beautiful. There are many integrations available through our ecosystem, if you don’t find one specifically for sending out bulk emails to contacts, you could approach a custom-cloud integrator to build one for you at a fee.

    Thanks for sharing and showing interest in how we can develop user roles to suit your needs when using Xero. 

    With many varying ideas for roles and permissions in different areas of our products, user roles impact all areas of the product. There are many factors we must consider when addressing how to solve for majority of our customers needs.

    We’re in the process of conducting research on the current landscape and how we might approach some of the most predominant needs in roles for our customers. This being one of our highest voted ideas surrounding roles is a specific focus for the team. too. 

    Discovery of this work is its first stages and will be long running. There will be multiple phases of research and forms of engagement with users that’ll help shape the path ahead in this space.
