Invoices - Automatically send invoice reminders for all overdue invoices
Seems a lapse in the system that you cannot send invoice reminders for over 60 days + for outstanding invoices
We have clients that still owe us money after 60 days and we have to manually review and resend, rather than the system just picking up that any invoice is outstanding / overdue and sending a reminder automatically
Would be nice if the system could just send an invoice reminder to any overdue invoice.15 votes -
Fixed Assets | General Pool Write Off
Under current simplified depreciation rules, small businesses deduct the balance of the small business pool at the end of the income year if the balance at that time (before applying the depreciation deductions) is less than the instant asset write-off threshold.
Currently Xero's pool does not apply this rule & continues depreciating at 30%. It would be great to have a product update so the correct application of current tax rules applys to the pooling system in Xero.
132 votesAppreciate the traction this idea's gained - Thanks for your support, everyone.
Our Fixed Asset product team are working on upgrades to Fixed Assets platform and updating technology - Read more on this broader work on Xero Central
We understand how having an automated control to recognise and apply a write-off for general pooled assets where the balance is beneath the threshold would be useful, this is not in our roadmap right now.
That said, they have a close eye on ideas for Fixed Assets for when the time's right - we'll share any change on the idea, here.

UK Payroll - Change payroll journal date
The Payroll Journal dates are currently fixed to be the Pay Date, which is incorrect for any business that has hourly paid employees which must pay after end of month, when all hours are calculated.
Every month all of our P&L figures are wrong because of this. Nobody wants to have to waste time doing loads of manual journals every month, which have the potential for mistakes, when Xero has created a system which is supposed to automate this process.
Others have raised it but Xero never replied, see link at the bottom below.
The solution is:
Create "Payroll Journal Date" as a configurable field in payroll settings, so that organisations can choose this for themselves. It should default to the period end date for that payroll, because as long as it's paid by the 5th of the month, it is fine from a tax perspective.
OR if creating a new field is too much effort, simply change the journal date to always be the period end date, not the payment date.
Probably Payroll was developed to create journals on the payment date because nobody had considered hourly paid industries - most salaried jobs pay within the month. But for many industries this is impossible, so this should be standard functionality and we should not be left with messed up P&L.

eInvoicing - Bulk approve & send
I hope xero has the functionality of e-invoicing to approve and send the multiple e-invoices in bulk.
As this new invoicing does not allow it and make the task slower than the conventional xero way.
I hope you'll add this suggestion on your product improvement and see xero functioning the next time around.28 votes -
Sales Invoice | Expected Dates - Bulk Update
The "Planned Dates" feature in Bills to Pay works extremely well. Key element is that you can bulk update dates as required from a multiple selection.
The "Expected Date" feature has the same potential but also needs to be able to update invoice "Expected Dates" in bulk.
Invoices cannot be updated in bulk from Short Term Cashflow if a part-payment has been made against that invoice. Also, you can't update invoices Expected dates if they are not due yet.
37 votesThanks for the detail of why the Short term cashflows option is not viable for you here, Karl.
We don't have any immediate plans around this but will keep an eye on the appetite here and let you know if there's any plans made.

AU Payroll - Option to edit the Timesheet layout
It will be very useful for reporting if we are able to change the layout of Timesheet Details from a week ending to fortnightly while also able to choose the start date and end date without the dates with zero hours.

Bill - Show Supplier bank account when creating a bill
When you are entering a Bill to Pay, the Creditor bank account number that you have stored on their contact comes up as a window at the top, so you easily compare with the bank account number with the bank account number on the invoice. This can prompt you to check if the bank account number has been changed and you can make a phone call or follow your company guidelines regarding changing of bank account details to avoid Cyber Crime. I believe this is really important for users and will save me a lot of time. I deal with supermarkets and they have a lot of change of owners.

AU Payroll - Ability to calculate Super accruals for U18s working less than 30hrs/wk
Currently, Xero lists a super accrual for employees under the age of 18 when they earn over $450/mth. However, it doesn't take into account how many hours that employee works per week. Under 18s are not eligible to be paid super unless they work over 30 hours per week (even if they earn over $450/mth), but Xero doesn't recognise this. Unfortunately this shows up a s liability for the employer, even though a liability doesn't exist. I know that it can be worked around in the pay run, but it just means extra work for the payroll admin - particularly if they have a lot of employees. Xero should automatically be able to see calculate that an employee is under 18, and whether or not they employee has met the 30hrs per week criteria before calculating any accrual for the employee.

195 votesHey everyone! Thanks for your ongoing feedback on this. We appreciate you taking the time to highlight how important it is to get superannuation calculations exactly right, especially with the specific rules around employees under 18.
Our product team has reviewed this idea and agrees this needs to be addressed. The current workaround of manually adjusting each pay run isn't the seamless experience we want to provide, especially for businesses with multiple under-18 employees.
As a result, we're moving this idea to 'Accepted'. While we can't give a specific timeframe for a solution right now, this status means it's on our radar and something we'd like to develop in the future.
We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with us and for your patience. 🙂

Batch Deposit - Reference to pull through to bank reconciliation
When I enter a reference in batch deposit, this does not pull through to the bank reconciliation. On the bank reconciliation report, the Description is "Payment: multiple items" and the Reference field is blank. This is not useful as I have to go into each transaction and see which company the receipt has come from. Why enter a reference when it does not appear on the bank reconciliation report? When I try to search to match deposits using the company name, these deposits do not appear as the Description is unhelpful. If there are smaller batches which add up to a bank deposit amount, it takes ages to find them when reconciling.

Contact - Show total overpayment amount on Contact page
Fault on new contact page - when an invoice is paid using an overpayment is show £0 in the amount paid column! If an invoice is ONLY paid with an overpayment it therefore shows £0 paid £0 due. It should show the full amount paid by any payment method.

New Invoicing - Add line number
Add a new field for "Row number" in customized invoice. So that we can see how many lines items in one invoice & fulfill client needs.
33 votesHi Shawn, to make sure we understand the idea here - would you like this field to be visible to the contact. Say when a certain branding theme is applied? Or just an internal to view when creating invoices in Xero? Thanks

Inventory - Visible notes for users to see when using an item
We sell software from various vendors and many have rules relating to how their products are sold e.g. "Must include min of one license of X before customer can order any licenses of "Y" OR "Software Maintenance should be ordered with the licenses, otherwise it is ordered as a "Maintenance Upgrade" (with different pricing), and many other examples.
Updating these each time a new price list is issued must be done manually as Notes cannot be imported or exported making it very tedious.
Also, with Notes being at the bottom of the screen and needing to be expanded to see them, there is no way for users to know there is even a rule attached to any product without going in and looking at each.
These types or product purchasing or sales rules would also be relevant in many other sectors.
The ability to import/export notes (or rules) attached to products and being flagged or visible to internal users when adding the product to quotes or invoices would be a huge benefit to many users.

Reports - Add multi currency for intercompany reporting
The functionality to allow for intercompany reporting when the currencies are different between the organisations - for this we would need to be able to create an asset/liability account in a currency other than the local currency. This would eliminate any Foreign exchange gains/losses on intercompany balances.

Invoices - Assign billable expenses in bulk
Is would be helpful to be able assign different expenses from one bill to different customers, in one batch. At the moment you have to do it individually and then go back into the assign expenses section to do it again for each assignment, which for a bill that relates to multiple customers takes a lot of time.
