Xero checks employees age against pay rate and that of the National Minumum Wage so it does not get missed. It's doesn't have to change it, just highlight thsat the employee's rate needs to ber changed
117 votesHi everyone, as part of the work we're doing here, we're looking to engage some small businesses as well as accountants and bookkeepers who use our Payroll functionality to try out our new prototypes and give us feedback.
We'd look to set up a video call over the next 3 weeks which'll take about 60 minutes. If you'd be interested in taking part, please apply by using this form. 😊 Thanks

Projects - Expense Date to be shown on the invoice
Add an expense date to a project
When you enter expenses under projects, a date is required. We would like that date to appear on the invoices.
9 votesWhen you say you'd like the expense date on the invoice - would you expect this to be visible just in Xero, or o your customer as well?

UK Payroll - Alternative NI Calculation type for directors starting mid-year
When adding a Director to payroll midway through the year the status can only be set to 'Annual'
It would be great if we were able to choose either 'Annual' or 'Alternative' Setting a new director on 'Annual' in January has affected their NI contributions. On Annual the NI does seem to vary but sort its self out by the end of the tax year. It just means paying more NI for a period of time.15 votes -
Transactions - Allocate dishonoured and reversed to customer's account
I am not happy with the treatment of dishonoured/reversed payments on Xero when it comes to debtors/customers (and similarly creditors/suppliers) (see attached support screenshot).
Dishonoured payments must be processed via the accounts receivable and payable channels as is the custom on any other accounting package.
The customer's records and statements must reflect when payments were dishonoured (true refection) and it should not be handled outside of the customer's module as Xero is currently doing (by deleting the original payment from the customer and allocating it a GL account and then allocating the dishonoured reversal to the same GL account).
The original payment must stay allocated to the customer's account and the reversal also allocated to the customer account.
This is very standard accounting practice and very strange that this is yet another thing that Xero chose to do differently and in so doing causing great unhappiness with our clients.
It's a long shot, but Xero please develop this urgently !!

Repeating journals - Date placeholder that uses a number-format for month
I attended the 2023 Q2 QPU and I like that for placeholders you can add a number in the square brackets to modify the month placeholder (this was in repeating journals - is it the same in other repeating features, like Invoices/Bills?). I also wonder if you can modify the year placeholder in the same way.
But I'd like also to be able to post repeating journals with a placeholder that uses a number-format for month (eg, 04 instead of April). Alternatively or additionally, it would be nice to be able to abbreviate the month to just the first 3 characters (eg, Apr instead of April).

UK Payroll - Report showing PAYE obligation, due date and account code

Cash Coding - Ability to Save your progress
The sort feature in Cash Coding is great, however, not all bank feeds are. I often find I need to remove all the excess data imported in the bank feed before I can sort by payee.
It would be really useful if the changes I make in Cash Coding could be saved so I can work through a page then save.
I know, in a perfect world it would all be imported through Hub Doc, and clients wouldn't put personal transactions through the business or mix receipts from more than one of their businesses. Until we reach that stage the ability to sort and save would be really helpful. The sort feature in Cash Coding is great, however, not all bank feeds are. Products and Services - Non-Sell Items when allocated to projects retain the orginal information.
Within Products and Services when items are set up that aren't invoiceable costs, and therefore the "Sell" box unticked, when they are allocated as to Projects these items don't show as "Non-Chargeable" costs as they should do, they show as "% Mark-up" costs. Therefore, when going to "Invoice Tasks and Expenses", they appear in the list of potentially invoiceable items.
Therefore, each expense item has to be edited in each individual project and switch it from "% Mark-up" to "Non-Chargeable. Such costs should automatically come through as "Non-Chargeable".
Also, "Find and Recode" feature doesn't recode the Product and Services type - it would be useful to have that function as well.

Sales Invoices - Allow to have column for backorders
To have a column of back orders/negative items within the Sales Invoices.
Purpose: Users can easily enter back ordered items rather than doing extra steps of adding 1 more item in their inventory.
102 votesHi team, we know some of our customers find using inventory(Products and Services) in Xero a little restrictive atm. Related to the idea here - Exploring the ability to record negative inventory, or back order of stock in Xero is in our product teams plans. They have a bits of work to get through first, but we'll shift this idea to Under review and keep you updated when this progresses.

Bank reconciliation report - Set default date period
New bank rec reports are based on the start of the month to the current date as a default. The old bank rec report just had an end date. Would like a fast way to move end date field and not have to also alter the start date.
13 votesHey community! As a few of you have rightly pointed out, the previously posted workaround isn’t suitable if your end date is prior to your start date. In this case, you will have to update both start and end fields.
Thank you to everyone that flagged that, and apologies for the confusion.
Because the the Bank Reconciliation summary lives in the Bank Reconciliation reporting pack, the date picker available is the same as the other bank reports (Bank Statement and Statement Exceptions).
Understand that some users would prefer an ‘as-at’ date instead, similar to the older report. In the meantime, you can select the same date in both fields to achieve this.
As that doesn't quite solve this for some users, we're leaving this idea open to continue to collect and share your feedback with our product team.

Expenses: Date range for explorer report
The "Explorer" tab in the employee expenses section needs an option to set the date range.
At the moment it is pretty useless as I cant even see what date range it covers - presumably back to when we started using expenses mid way through the year 3 years ago?
It is not meaningful to compare spend by different employees, if I cant do it by month or quarter, when some employees have been using expenses for much longer than others.
An option to compare by employee for selected accounts, and to export to pdf/xls would also be really useful. The "Explorer" tab in the employee expenses section needs an option to set the date range.

Reports - One custom report to flow through all xero reports
Need a way to format the 'xero standard report and then have that formatting flow through to all of the common formats. It takes WAY too long to create SO many custom reports and it is restricting on reporting. We should be able to format the way we want the P&L to always show and then have that flow through to all reports.

GST Audit (Singapore) - Select Tax code display
Suggestions to improve the reporting of GST Audit Beta
Allow us to select which Tax Codes to display in report (default All)
Show the tax code in each row rather than as a report subheader. Useful when there are lots of records for some tax codes
I noticed that we can select Reference field for the columns, but not Invoice No. If the entry's Ref field is blank, the report shows the Invoice No. So this is misrepresenting the report, and showing inaccurate results as no one analysing the report would know if they are seeing the Ref no or the Inv no. Also in case of multiple invoices per project, we would end us seeing Ref no (showing same project no) but not the individual Inv no.

3 votesAppreciate the feedback here, community. I want to assure you product ideas in the forums here are a primary source for our product teams when planning development and diving deeper into improving the experience for our customers when using Xero.
I can understand it may feel that things aren't moving as quickly on ideas you'd like to see developed however you can filter ideas by Working on it to get a sense of ideas from our community that are being worked on, or Delivered for ideas we have released solutions for.
It really helps having only 1 idea per post in the forums here so others in community understand what they're adding their vote for, and our product teams to get a sense of the interest from our customers in a specific feature.
I've split your idea here to a separate one for being able to view the tax code on each row (based on your second point here).
You're welcome to create another idea for your last point around the reference that is used - if you could also share the expected behaviour and how this would help you getting an accurate view this will help our product teams when evaluating your idea.

Payroll UK - Amend previous RTI submissions
It would be great to be able to change an existing payrun (without using an unscheduled one) and submit an additional FPS relating to that month. Also being able to submit an additional FPS relating to a month that has already been submitted and no changes made, but sometimes HMRC pulls through the data incorrect their end and they need just an additional FPS submitted to pull it through correct but this is not possible currently.

Custom Report - Ability to decide if a formula row or column takes precedent
You can add formula columns and rows to a report, but from what I can tell, the column formula always takes precedent over the row. It would be cool if you choose if you want the row formula to calculate in the column formula column
