Subscription Option - Multi-currency as an add on
Add the option for multi currency to other subscription types.
Currently the only way to use multi-currency is to upgrade to the Xero Established/Premium or Ultimate pricing plan. For a sole trader that doesn't need all the extra features of those plans, that is a minimum price increase of over double the starter plan.

Inventory - Allow Negative Stock On Hand
Ability to allow negative stock in Xero.
Purpose: Users that take orders and receive payments from their contacts before placing inventory can easily do it in Xero.
110 votesHi everyone, we appreciate the restrictive nature of inventory(Products and Services) atm, and our product team have plans to explore adding capability to cater for negative inventory or back order of stock recorded in Xero.
While they have a few other priorities to get through first we'll move this idea to Under review and return to share more when this work picks up.

Contacts - Add a new contact directly into a Group
When adding a new Customer have a field at that time to place the new customer into a Group.
Would save time later and enable a better CRM feature for later marketing.2 votes -
Navigation - Hide tool tips/help banners
Is it possible to permanently remove the help banners that continually appear at the top of screens in Xero?
Ideally, it would be nice to use these (if needed) and then close them off permanently, so they don't reappear every time you work in the file.
They take a significant amount of space at the top of the screen so you actually have to X them out.

Bills - Bulk add Due Date when creating bills from Purchase Orders
Draft Bills - BULK add Due date when bulk approving.
- need to use when creating RCTI's from purchase orders. We have the option to bulk move from Purchase order to Draft Bill, but then must open each one individually to apply the due date so that they can then be approved.Another alternative is to add a 'due date' field on the screen when choosing to transfer the Purchase Orders to the Draft Bill page

UK Payroll - Adding Employee Group data to reports
You can enter a group for an employee on the employment information but this function cannot be used on the reports.
If the information of which employee is in which group, then surely its not a huge leap to add this function to the reports. Using the gross to net report, you could select a group rather than an individual, saving a lot of time.

Checks - Only capitalise the first letter of the City on US checks
Checks (cheques) cut for Xero US subscribers should print addresses accordingly. Not all the letters in a City need to be capitalized. City not CITY. Furthermore, there should be a comma after City. And if you use the Attention feature in the Contact Address, it should print as the first line in the check address. Currently it prints as Vendor Name, Attention: Jane Doe. That makes for a very odd, confusing addressee on the check.

Reporting - Create folders to manage reports (Custom, Published and Archived)
Under Custom Reports
I send out reports to my departments each month, this morning it took 4 hours to add the tracking codes to the new P & L reports (we love the new report and so do our Department Heads).
I was wondering if there is a way of saving each custom report for each individual dept with their tracking within a folder. We have a Junior and Senior Campus and about 45 departments at each. We already have a lot of custom reports so having a folder system would allow each Admin staff member to access what they need easily, without overcrowding the main area. This would save hours over a year, not only each month but when a Dept Head requests one mid month.
I have attached a Screenshot of what I mean. if we could have a folder for HOD P & L's I could then save individual P&L's for each dept and Campus then they be ready for the next month and just need to change the date. A huge timesaver.
Thanks

There's no facility to create folders in the Reports Centre for this sort of categorisation atm.
We'll begin tracking support in this here.

UK Payroll: Time Off - Add 'Days' view to holiday allowance (Instead of just 'Hours')
Offering a simple update to the Xero system which would dramatically improve one grey area:
I had a discussion with my team and it's a common topic that keeps coming up - we find it very awkward having the 'Time Off' allowance displayed in 'Hours'.
Just like some other tracking systems, they allow you to see your 'Time Off' as 'Days' which is much easier to glance at - instead of having to continuously calculate hours, which takes time and can cause confusion on some occasions.
We would all very much appreciate it if you at least give the option to view the 'Time Off' allowance as 'Days' - so you can see how much holiday you have left very quickly.
I've mocked up a basic example of how this would look in the attachment uploaded to this request.
Please do consider this simple update as it would make life easier using the Xero system.
Warmest regards,

Payroll - link payroll item to an asset account
At present it is impossible to link a payroll item to an Asset Account in GL. This is a limitation that is wrong and should be easy to fix. It is wrong because in some cases the wages are capitalised (for instance when the resources are used in full or in part to construct capital assets). Sure, it is possible to post a journal to move costs from P&L to a Balance Sheet account but it is cumbersome and error prone. I note, a majority of competing products do not have this limitation.
4 votesHi community, while we appreciate you sharing in the idea here we don't have any plans for developing this capability in the global Pay run product. Instead, we'd recommend using a manual journal to record this.

AU Payroll - Include Salary Sacrifice amounts when calculating HECS/STSL deductions
When a staff member has a HECS debt or other Student Loan selected AND is salary sacrificing - the Student loan amount is only calculated on the GROSS amount AFTER the salary sacrifice however when the staff member has gone to do their tax return, they have a tax bill because the ATO looks at the taxable income as an amount INCLUDING the salary sacrifice so via Xero not enough PAYGW has been withheld - can this be amended?

NZ Payroll - More employee bank accounts fields
More than four bank accounts for employees: It would be helpful if we could have more than four bank accounts for employee wages to be split into. A minimum of 6 would be good as a few employees have asked for money to be split into more than four accounts.

Projects - Expense Date to be shown on the invoice
Add an expense date to a project
When you enter expenses under projects, a date is required. We would like that date to appear on the invoices.
10 votesWhen you say you'd like the expense date on the invoice - would you expect this to be visible just in Xero, or o your customer as well?

Projects - Create Spend Money from a Project expense
When adding a actual expense within a project it should open a spend money transaction in Xero and have the ability to save photo of the receipt as normal spend money. Or alternative within the XERO app be able to select a project when inputing a receipt, the current setup is double handeling because you purchase somthing and you have to enter it in xero then in the project.

Sales Invoices - Ability to specify a % of invoice held on retention
We would like to indicate a specific percentage of retention money held by our client on our sales invoices to them. This retention is then payable to us after a specific amount of months.
We also need a way to keep track of the total amount of retention held by a client
42 votesHi community, in lieu of having a direct feature for this I wanted to highlight the option shared earlier on in this thread (Thanks Peter!) for those it may help.
As mentioned, currently you could enter a separate line on the invoice, with a negative amount for the retention value, and code this to a 'customer retentions' account in the Balance Sheet. You could also add a comment in the Description field, indicating the cumulative retention value.
The Account Transactions Report can then be used to manage the values being carried forward.
Being open, this isn't something we have planned for development at this time, however we'll continue to gather the interest here, and if there's any changes we'll let you know.

UK Payroll - Ability to have national minimum wage checker
Xero checks employees age against pay rate and that of the National Minumum Wage so it does not get missed. It's doesn't have to change it, just highlight thsat the employee's rate needs to ber changed
121 votesHi everyone, as part of the work we're doing here, we're looking to engage some small businesses as well as accountants and bookkeepers who use our Payroll functionality to try out our new prototypes and give us feedback.
We'd look to set up a video call over the next 3 weeks which'll take about 60 minutes. If you'd be interested in taking part, please apply by using this form. 😊 Thanks

Bank Reconciliation - Match payment to more than 50 invoices
I would like to see the limitation of receiving payment on 50 inovices be increased or removed completely. I Have a trucking company that issues hundreds of trip invoices to it's customers and the limit of receiving payment on 50 invoices at a time doesnt work for them.
