  1. Xero checks employees age against pay rate and that of the National Minumum Wage so it does not get missed. It's doesn't have to change it, just highlight thsat the employee's rate needs to ber changed

    Hi everyone, as part of the work we're doing here, we're looking to engage some small businesses as well as accountants and bookkeepers who use our Payroll functionality to try out our new prototypes and give us feedback.

  2. a payroll report that can be run by the states that employees are in. It will be great for payroll tax if company employs people across Australia

  3. I hope that there's separate columns for date and employee name as seen in the previous report as it's totally useful when summarising data for various period. For instance, when generating the old report, it's completely quicker to use the pivot table and other excel formulas to calculate the total hours work and the corresponding cost in a certain period and prepare a comparative report for various pay item/period and employee using the old payroll activity detailed report. It's a single payroll report where all the relevant information is included.

    Hiya team, thank you for sharing your feedback and letting us know the detail and why this is valuable to you. Based on feedback we received on the Employee name and Date columns the team have just released an update to the Payroll Activity Detailed report to include Employee name and Date as separate columns in the report and these will now show by default.

    This will help as noted when exporting and using the data for further analysis outside of Xero. 

  4. Now with STP2, we need to disaggregate backpay across the various ATO Payroll categories but it is not possible to setup a backpay category for any leave categories, please create default categories or allow allocation to the ATO leave categories in pay items. Without it, it is impractical to be STP2 compliant.

  6. Employee tab - make the layout available for users to choose between Portrait or Landscape orientation.
    Since updates were made on 20.12.2024, the Landscape one (on this particular tab - Employees) did not fit on the screen. It looks like a tech error rather than an update...

  7. The problem is if you set a deduction item in payroll on Xero it doesn't give option to pick P&L nominal account, where reimbursements to employees should be coded. The only work around are journals, which is ineffective when you have clients posting payroll themselves and they need management reports each month, so you have to reanalyze and repost their payroll.

  10. Can the Annual Leave Cash Up leave type please be automated to roll into Annual Leave once the payrun is posted. It would be a great time saver.

  11. Have the option to accrue leave on other pay items. ie. Saturday rate has to be set up with its own rate per employee as each employee is on their own rate for Saturday and isn't a "mutplication of the ordinary rate". This also needs leave to accrue on it.
    Spoken to Xero adviser and they don't have a set up for this yet.

  12. Show pay items (hours) per day on pay slip. So the employee can check hours paid on given day in the pay period and are able to easily check their pay/hours against there records. In my case employees don't have access to timesheets in Xero but even if they did would make it easier to check in one place

  14. When using the Leave Paid out on Termination feature in xero, the paid out leave is recorded in the Holiday Leave Accrual category. This means we are unable to run a report showing the value of unused entitlements paid out on Termination. This is important information for Workcover Reconciliations etc. Please set up a report for Unused Leave Paid out on Termination.

  15. In service industries like hospitality salaried employees will work a different set of shifts each week across 7 days. Currently I have to set up a working pattern and if they phone in sick on a Saturday for example if that day isnt set as their working day (i.e we set them up as Mon-Fri for ease) we have to record the sick day on the Monday to ensure it is deducted. But in these industries the working days are different each week and they dont work on a set pattern. Need the ability to set that the employee works…

  16. Give the option of adding company sick pay entitlement, which counts towards sick leave, and then when company sick pay is exhausted, revert to SSP.

    Thanks for sharing and supporting this idea - while I don't have an update specific to this idea, I thought you might be interested in the following:

    Our AU Payroll team are testing some changes to Payroll reconciliation. The idea to create an AU payroll reporting pack is highly associated with payroll reconciliation and we feel that voters here would also have an interest in payroll reconciliation. They would love to hear from you!

    They’re aiming to conduct some 1 on 1 interviews between 6 Feb - 16 Feb 2024, the interviews will last 45 minutes.

    The purpose of the session: Participants will be asked to help with testing a prototype concept designed to enhance the AU payroll reconciliation process.

    They aim to discover:

    • Whether this conceptual solution meets your specific Payroll needs, and if it adds value to your Payroll reconciliation process?

  18. Managers who have the ability to approve leave in Xero Me should be able to view historical leave requests they've approved so they can anticipate when staff are away. Currently, they cannot do this unless they have Payroll Admin access and a Xero account on a web browser. Not all managers are finance people and need to have this access.

  19. When using Xero Payroll as an agent it would be better to be able to hide the agents Govt Gateway ID as well as the password. Could it be updated so that when you tick that you are submitting as an agent, both parts are hidden from the client?

  20. Allowing the payslips to be emailed before posting to HMRC to check for any errors would be great. We have multiple users involved in the payroll data input and there are usually one or two errors as there are many expenses claims. Being able to do this would make life so much easier for us.

    Thanks for your interest and feedback on this idea, everyone. Currently, you can View Payslips from within the draft pay run by clicking into Options > View Payslips.

    From here you could download and email the payslips from outside Xero.

    Though no plans at present, if anything changes in this space, we’ll update you on this idea.
