  1. Has support considered the option to filter the leave balance report by employment status? When generating this report all employees are listed or only an individual employee. Why would we need the current balance of leave for terminated employees? I have some employees who have returned, so both are listed but I don't know which is active until I run the report on each.

    Thanks for sharing and supporting this idea - while I don't have an update specific to this idea, I thought you might be interested in the following:

    Our AU Payroll team are testing some changes to Payroll reconciliation. The idea to create an AU payroll reporting pack is highly associated with payroll reconciliation and we feel that voters here would also have an interest in payroll reconciliation. They would love to hear from you!

    They’re aiming to conduct some 1 on 1 interviews between 6 Feb - 16 Feb 2024, the interviews will last 45 minutes.

    The purpose of the session: Participants will be asked to help with testing a prototype concept designed to enhance the AU payroll reconciliation process.

    They aim to discover:

  3. When using Xero Payroll as an agent it would be better to be able to hide the agents Govt Gateway ID as well as the password. Could it be updated so that when you tick that you are submitting as an agent, both parts are hidden from the client?

    Hey everyone, we've been making some changes to improve NZ Payroll for Xero users.

    If you're just getting started with Xero (from 5 August 2024) you can now set up the Sick leave entitlement date for an employee.

    We know people in the idea here are existing payroll users and we can assure you we're working to also develop this for existing customers. There are a few more intricacies to work through from what already exists to the new. I'll be back to share when there's more news on this and when you can get access to this too. Thanks

  5. Allowing the payslips to be emailed before posting to HMRC to check for any errors would be great. We have multiple users involved in the payroll data input and there are usually one or two errors as there are many expenses claims. Being able to do this would make life so much easier for us.

    Thanks for your interest and feedback on this idea, everyone. Currently, you can View Payslips from within the draft pay run by clicking into Options > View Payslips.

    From here you could download and email the payslips from outside Xero.

    Though no plans at present, if anything changes in this space, we’ll update you on this idea.

  6. It would be great if Xero could implement an automatic change/suggestion to change to category A after an H-category employee doesn't meet the criteria anymore.
    One of our employees just had his birthday and I noticed the category doesn't automatically update and there's no flag to say they might now be ineligible for a certain code.
    I imagine there are more companies with the same problem where it's gone unnoticed that the National Insurance Category hasn't automatically updated as nearly everything else does and it's easy to miss a birthday!

    Hi community, we've rolled out a change to Xero Payroll (UK), and now Xero will automatically apply the new NI category to a pay run based on an employees birthdate, and if they are entering into a new NI category. Meaning you no longer have to manually track and updates these.

  7. To minimise additional payroll payment processing it would be great to have the ability to pay employees from more than one Company bank account using the Payroll Batch payment functionality i.e Employee 1,2,3,4 gets paid from Bank Account A and Employee 5,6,7,8 gets paid from Bank Account B.

  12. Many of my clients prefer a 37.5 hour work week (7.5 hours a day) to a 38 hour work week (7.6 hours a day).
    I am able to set the leave accruals to a 7.5 hour day but the standard work week in "'Assign default leave types" is always 38 hpw and I have to manually change it to 37.5 to match the leave accrual.

  13. Include a new filed in payroll employee data with employee number. Employees will have a unique indentifier in xero. When running a pay history report the customer number to appear on this report as well as any other payroll roll reports. Businesses are using automated payslip and messaging services for payroll and this info is required for these software's.

  14. An automatic monthly payroll tax report would be fantastic. I've noticed Xero cannot do an automatic calculation of Payroll Tax like MYOB can. MYOB allows you to select pay categories (pay items) to exclude and run a monthly payroll tax report.

  15. There is an issue in payroll where you will get a rounding error due to other pay items such as Leave/Holiday.

    e.g. Salary £12,570 per year
    Paid in May the calculations are as follows:
    1685.692935=£956.41308 Rounded: £956.41
    8
    5.692935=£45.54348 Rounded: £45.54
    8*5.692935=£45.54348 Rounded: £45.54

    Total = £1047.50084 Rounded Total: £1047.49 instead of £1047.50

    This should be corrected somehow to use the correct number before rounding as the final calculation. The rounding can either be ignored from the line items, added to the first line item (the total pay) or added as a new line item specifically for the…

  16. On payslips and in reports, I think there should be dates next to the following items so it isn't confusing for the employee and when checking reports. It makes it more transparent too.

    Hi Laura, thanks for your feedback here. Appreciate you may have already been through the set up process yourself but our recent release of the Switching wizard in Payroll for the UK aims to improve this flow if you set up a new organisation. 

    We've introduced an experience that'll make it easier to transition from your current payroll provider to Xero Payroll, reducing errors and saving time.

    As part of the experience, you'll be able to import a Full Payment Summary(FPS) from your current software provider to Xero Payroll. You can get more understanding of how this works through our short video. 🙂

  18. We want to be able to open and complete the employees draft timesheet, if it has already been started. We have enough to do without starting again from scratch what the employee may have already done but just not clicked the submit button.

    It is idiotic that, as the owner and payroll manager, that we cannot see an employee's draft timesheets.

    As the business owner and Payroll Admin, we should:

    • not have compromise our recordkeeping by putting hours directly into the pay slip.

  19. I would like to be able to select the leave types in the leave balance report. As at today it gives you all leave types in the report. You cannot filter either as it only allows filtering of amount, employee group and units.

  20. At the moment Xero only produce standard 18 format files for paying employees electronically. There is very minimal banks that accept this kind of format. I I think it would be of great use if we could upload a template file to Xero of the format our bank accepts and it then produces this type of file for us.
