Pro forma Invoicing - Automatically match with the same code in Balance sheet
Good afternoon
We are a liquid manufacturer and require the use of proformas to send to the client to pay before the goods are shipped then for this to be invoiced once the goods are shipped
I have checked some articles but the way to do this is to create a template to which we name is pro forma, and code this to a separate code in the balance sheet (name it Pro forma deposits or something similar). Once we have confirmation the goods have been shipped, we have to manually put on a credit to go against the same…

Reporting - Accept 2 decimal places in Budget Manager
Modify the Budget Manager so that it accepts 2 decimal places and does not round to the nearest full dollar.
Rounding all figures means that the Net Profit amount is incorrect which means the budgets are incorrect.
26 votesThanks for your interest and input on this idea, everyone. Being upfront this isn't something we have planned at this time but we'll continue to monitor the votes and feedback coming through and will be sure to let you know if there's any change to this, here.

Orders - Keep the order date when copying to an invoice
When creating a bill from a purchase order, it does not bring over the purchase order date. The date automatically changes to the date you are processing.
Is there anyway you could keep the date.2 votes -
Contacts - Reinstate the email feed
The email feed on clients account activity needs reinstating. If people send a quote mid communication via email rather than on xero or someone emails in a query about an invoice this is now getting lost rather than recorded on their account!
PLEASE REINSTATE this was essential for credit control and communication between team members regarding clients!

Reporting - Expenses by contact report option to filter i.e supplier addresses/location/postal code
Broken down to location/ postal code with the total cost for a contact/supplier in any period is needed.
I am aware 'the expenses by contact' gives you the total spend in a year but this doesn't filter down to location/ addresses or post code. At year end a key part of our process is reporting local suppliers for our social impact and purpose, we have to complete a time consuming exercise entering addresses/location manually line by line for key suppliers in excel. This information is reported to our Board of Directors, to our Group Board and as part of our…2 votes -

VAT - Show Unreconciled Statement Lines for a VAT period when completing a VAT return
A note of outstanding, unreconciled statement lines before completing a VAT return.
Currently you click review and can see the VAT return; however, it would be useful to have a box that would flag if there any unreconciled transactions within the VAT period.
This would help to ensure no transactions are missed when completing a VAT return.

Xero Accounting app - Assign billable expense to Project when creating a transaction
I would really like to be able to allocate my expenses to a project within the app.
If I add a receipt via the app, (which for me is the most efficient way to add expenses) I then have to go online, find the transaction, edit it and resave it, in order to sign it to a project. This is frustratingly inefficient and doubles the time it takes to input a purchase!
Could you please add this ability to the app?7 votes -
Canadian Payroll - Annual maximums for pay items such as CPP and EI
Provide fields for the user (or Xero) to input annual maximums for payroll deductions, including Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and Employment Insurance (EI), such that when an individual employee reaches or exceeds the maximum, Xero would provide a notification that the maximum has been exceeded. Canada Revenue Agency sets these thresholds annually.

Projects - Create a report that includes a breakdown of suppliers invoices
Looking for a report under a project where I can have a breakdown of all invoices with dates and gross total paid for a specific supplier - I've been told this is not available and yet all the information is in the system but no report available

Reports - Projects: Show bills/expenses in a Report on a Cash Basis
The option to show bills/expense in a Report on a Cash Basis. So show paid bills only not all bills,
as per the Detailed Transaction Report if Xero. We need this option to show current expenses per project. The Detailed Transaction Report only shows this if you assign a Project through Tracking.1 vote -
CIS - File for overpayments allocated to a CIS invoice
Yes that's right. Let's say you pay a subby £150 in advance and allocate that as an overpayment on their account from the bank feed. You then get an invoice from them a couple of weeks later for £500 and deduct CIS of £100 leaving £400 outstanding. You allocate the overpayment from the account of £150 and pay your subby the balance of £250. The system will only declare CIS on the £250 element of what you have paid. You have to know an overpayment has been allocated, reverse it and allocate the payment directly to the invoice for it…

Statement - Generate customer statement balance report with multiple currencies that can be exported to Excel
Hi, I'm wondering if there is a method to generate a customer statement balance report with multiple currencies (including a contact filter) and export it in Excel spreadsheet.
I've attempted a few approaches previously:
Using the path: 1) Business->Invoice -> Send statements. However, this only displays the source currency and doesn't offer an Excel export option.2) Accounting -> Report -> Account transactions
While this displays transactions in multiple currencies, it doesn't provide the option to show the balance brought forward from the previous month.3) Accounting -> Report -> Customer Invoice Activity Unfortunately, this report only shows the functional…

The Dashboard panel "Invoices owed to you" shows the number and total of

* Awaiting Payment
* OverdueHaving a fourth line showing Unsent invoices would quickly notify users of those approved invoices which haven't yet been sent, whether intentionally or in error.

Xero Expense report - Ability to add column for user that created the expense
To produce a report that shows all expenses entered via the expense claim feature for a specific period, which also shows who entered the expenses and details of the claims?
This is a useful feature required for comparing budgets and forecasting future cash flow expectations.

Budget manager - Ability to extend periods by more than 12 months
Can we please extend the budget manager period from 12 months to more than 3 years or whatever is possible? The data in the budget manager does not go beyond 12 months and if the budget is to be changed after a year of upload it doesn't have such access.
When working for a movie/film-making company the budget runs for more than 12 months and it needs to be changed time and again. But Xero doesn't have such an option which makes it impossible to get an accurate variance.
It would be great help.10 votesAppreciate how you'd like to do this within Xero, however just to confirm it's currently possible to import budgets with more periods.
You'll just need to make sure to format the dates in your import file - more on this here.
If you'd like a practice run, try it in the demo company before importing into your own org 🙂

Fixed Assets - Automatically update depreciation start date when changing year end dates
It would be great if Xero dealt with changing balance dates more efficiently. If the balance date changes it should be able to automatically calculate the opening book value, then calculate the depreciation for the new financial year end as per usual. Currently its very manual and time consuming as it reverses all journals posted since you started using Xeros fixed asset feature. Very odd and very frustrating!
13 votesHi all, we wanted to round back here to share for those in the UK that we've now added the ability for you to create a short transition period (between 1 month and 12 months long) when changing the Financial Year End date.
To recap for anyone new coming across the idea - Aligning with the UK basis period reforms we've made a change to Financial settings so you can add start and end dates to different periods. This change impacts multiple areas of Xero.
- Fixed assets will draw on this information, to prevent any loss of historic information when your year end changes. Everything will automatically be calculated for you based on the period start and end dates you set in Financial Settings.
- The same applies in Reporting. All historic reports will be protected. And you’ll have accurate comparison periods even across varied financial years.
- In Xero Tax,…

Report - Net Functional Column should add up on Account transaction report
The Net functional (for us GBP) column in the Account Transaction Report does not function correctly if we are considering the full GL.
Whether it shows a Debit or Credit as plus or minus depends on the type of account.
For example, an accrual Jnl posts Debit Expense/Credit Liabilities but both show as Positive in the Net column. We run the full GL to conduct our analysis and we re-calculate this column every time.
Then we can confirm that the list balances as the total of the double-entries should be nil.Is the current presentation of any use to anyone?…
