Xero Project reports - Click into transaction from report
Xero Project feature idea
- drill down transaction from Xero Project reporting
- Report template Xero Project layout can not be saved to custom report template
- assign project to Payroll
- Inactive jobs, still showing in the list although its in the different section, in my opinion the inactive project should not show up at all, should make the same like employee list where there is a dongle to show inactive Projects.
14 votesAppreciate you have a few ideas for Projects here. We try to keep 1 idea per thread so others understand what they are voting for and we can clearly share the information back with our Product teams.
I've changed the title of your idea here to reflect your first idea and welcome you to create new ones for the other ideas that you've suggested.

Xero Search | Items - search more fields
Can the magnifying glass search for anything entered so you can see where an item has been entered before, at present it only searches the information in the reference box. Sage & Quickbooks already do this and its very helpful as a book keeper.
4 votesIs there a specific field of an item that you'd generally search for, Janie?
Being open, we don't intend to allow for the ability to search 'any field' that data can be entered in Xero.
However if you can be more detailed in the terms you're searching this maybe something other in community want to see too and we can share with the team who develop Search in Xero.

Reports - Group account transactions by month
I would be good to be able to carry out data analysis of each nominal code and therefore group the account transactions by month with totals rather than by week which will ultimately tie back to the P&L. This would make it useful when carrying out data analysis from the P&L.

Fixed Asset - Ability to register multiple draft assets as one
On Drafts there would be say 10 lines which is actually all for the same asset.
Say I am building a product store. Using 10 different suppliers. Store, Erection, Floor, Building inside etc. I want to map all those together and register as 1 asset when done. This way the auditors see the whole store as one asset. Not 10 lines that I must show them. For instance "Thats the floor in that storage building"

Xero Accounting app - Create delivery/service docket
We need to be able to create a service docket via the Mobile app so that service crew can create and issue a service/delivery docket to customers when they are out doing the service. The packing slip option is not available apparently and, besides, its not the right name for what we do.

Chart of Accounts - Export Chart of Accounts with current & last financial year balances including zero balances
It could be useful to export the chart of accounts with current and last financial year balances including zero balances to see which account codes are not in use. Helping to simplify chart of accounts.

AU Payroll - Link deduction pay item to bank account
Please create a deduction for payroll that can be linked to a bank account. Currently deductions can only be managed via balance sheet and/or by adding reimbursement to enable it to be transferred via EFT. Quickbooks and some other payroll software have this ability and it makes life so much easier and clearer for the emlployee too.

Inventory - Bulk update/import stock quantities
Ability to have bulk updates and import stock quantities into Xero.
Purpose: To save users time from having to adjust/update inventory one by one.
58 votesHi community, happy to share that we're in the midst of rolling out bulk adjustments! We've heard you, and appreciate that updating stock quantities 1 by 1 can be tedious especially when conducting a stock take.
With our new tool for bulk inventory adjustments you'll find finishing your stock takes faster, giving you more time back to do the things that matter.
Once available in your org, you'll be able to create, review and submit bulk inventory adjustments in-one-go, you can export and import items after a count, and you'll have an Adjustment History page where you can view historical adjustments.
If you don't quite have it just yet, look forward to seeing this soon 😊 I'll be back to confirm once it's live in all organisations. In the meantime you can read more about this feature on our blog.

Branding - MergeField for name of the branding theme
Make available to the DocX template a field containing the Template Name, so that its easier to identify which DocX template is being used.
1 voteThanks for your feedback, Andrew and apologies it's taken a little to round back to you here. I see what you're saying and how a merge field would enable an optional for those that do v's don't want this shown 🙂
Being open we don't have any plans atm, so perhaps static text could help with things for now, however we'll get a feel of the interest here and let you know if there's any change planned.

Xero Accounting app - Order outstanding bills by due date
Please enable ordering of Outstanding bills by due date, not alphabetically.
Currently, if one wants to see bills ordered by due date one has to access the "Purchases" tab at the bottom of the screen, then hit "Bills" at the top of the screen. The "Outstanding bills" screen — accessed from the (default) Dashboard screen — displays bills ordered alphabetically and it should order them by due date, or at least make it user-selectable

Sales Invoices - Reference field for each line item
It would be great if the Reference field was moved to the body of the sales invoice so that you could add item line referencing with the option to enable the referencing to print on the sales invoice.
For example, a plumbing business completes work for a customer that has multiple rental properties. If the reference field was in the body of the sales invoice, they could add the applicable property address here so that they and the customer could differentiate what work was completed at each property for the invoiced period.
Currently, you would have to invoice separately for each property or add a line item with only the description field completed for the property name.
A reference column would be much cleaner - with the option not to print (as with the current invoicing options).

Xero Me - Decimal hours for timesheets in Xero Me
Xero Me App
When an employee is trying to enter the hours worked it only provides an option to do hours and minutes for the day worked, yet on the desktop it can be done simply as a decimal. For example we do 7.6 hours normal working hours with 0.4 hours going to an RDO bank for every day (except on an RDO).
It just seems really silly to have to adjust it to an equivalent of minutes instead of the hours total, be it whole or decimal for each and every day. Can this be fixed to work exactly like it is on the desktop?
The other start & finish time option the app has doesn't help much either. it would be so much easier to have the app and the desktop with the same options.
On the desktop it also has the option to create a template for the working week, we have created a "standard week" which autofills the most common weeks work to speed things up. Any additions or adjustments we need to make are easily changed from here.
As it stands with the app, having to scroll up and down for the required minuted to reflect the hours worked each day is not practical and it's the sole reason why we don't use the app at all for our timesheets.
Can this minor adjustment be done to have all platforms for entering timesheets like for like?
Thank you.

AU Payroll - Option to select salary to include/exclude in Super
I work in the payroll team at a business where the majority of our employees are on salaries that include super. This means every July, I have to go into every person's pay template and recalculate what their new salary is (because xero works only on an excluding super basis).
My suggestion: The ability to select whether a salary is including or excluding super per employee. Then every year when the statutory super amount goes up, I won't have to recalculate everyone's new salary for xero. This also means that an employee's payslip has the same salary as what is referenced on their employment contract

Profit and Loss - Exported CSV to contain Account Transaction breakdown
Within the old Xero profit and loss report, there used to be a feature where you could add account transactions to a excel export of the profit and loss. The account transactions for a specific account would appear as a separate tab in the excel profit and loss export. Unfortunately, this feature seems to have been removed with in the new profit and loss. It would be great to see this feature reimplemented, as losing functionality of a report due to an upgrade is a shame.

Xero Me - Payroll Authorisers to NOT include advisers
Please adjust the Leave Authorisers in Xero Me to be the employees in the business with Payroll Admin &/or the Authority to Approve Leave.
Currently all user with PAyroll Admin are available for selection - which includes ALL advisors.
As an accountant - we are having to revoke our access to a client's payroll to ensure that the staff in the client's business cannot select the accountant's staff members to approve their leave.17 votes -
UK Payroll - Automatically send payslips when pay run is posted
To save remembering to do manually, Xero could automatically send payslips as soon as the payrun is created/clicked.

Purchase orders - Ability to lock/stop editing once billed
Purchase orders should not be able to be edited after they have been billed (even part billed). It defeats the purpose of a purchase order.
We want staff to be able to issue purchase orders. Invoices are approved on those matching purchase orders. The same staff shouldn't be able to edit the original PO if it has been billed as then it doesn't match the invoice that's been paid/being paid.4 votes -
Projects - Assigning an expense to an estimated expense, and the basis for 'What you'll charge'
When editing an assigned expense in the project module, there are four options for 'What you'll charge': % markup, pass cost on, custom price and non-chargeable.
I think there should be a fifth option.
In the instance where the expense is to be tracked to an estimated expense (ie field 2 is completed), there should be the possibility of linking to the 'What you'll charge' amount that is already prepopulated into the associated estimated expense.
This would save a lot of time repeating steps.

Sales invoice - Export Contact account number
Hi,
I have seen several posts about the Account Number not being searchable/usable within the system or via exports. Contacts' names can vary easily from the different systems used by a company and even between departments: ABCco , ABC Company Ltd, ABC Ltd... - the account number can solve these format issues.
In my case i need to export invoices in csv to be then imported in another system, also the invoice standard template has this field (to be ticked or not) it does not get exported which is rather peculiar; that obliges our finance to maintain a mapping file in excel and run a formula which is far from ideal.
Will this get solved in the near future?Hi,

If so we don't have any direct plans for developing this at this stage. I'll change the title of your idea here slightly and we can get a sense of the interest from the community of this, here.

Reporting - Include invoices due today as Current in the Aged Receivables, not Overdue
In the aged receivable reports (summary and detail) Xero currently assigns any invoice that is due today to the "< 1 Month" column. But an invoice that is due today isn't yet overdue, so it should still be in the "Current" column.
