Invoicing - Adding Direct Debit tab to columns in Awaiting Payment
It would be really useful to be able to have a column in the 'awaiting payment' section where you can mark the group (i.e. Direct Debit) so when you're setting up Telleroo payments / batch payments, you can easily see which one's are Direct Debit suppliers without either running a payables report or clicking into the supplier to see which group they belong to

New invoicing - Due in 10 days
Could you please add "due in 10 days" in the drop down on an invoice?
1 voteIf this is the common selection for due date you can set this up as a Default in your Invoice Settings, Denise. It's also possible to set this up as a default for individual contacts if you'd prefer too. 🙂
Alternatively, you might find it handy to use the shortcut when entering your invoices. You can simply type +10 in the due date field and it will set the date to 10 days after the Invoice Issue date.

New invoicing - View payments details within invoice screen
When reviewing a payment for an invoice, you need to click 3 times to review the transaction details..going into 4 screens, as it's on a separate screen (1-invoice 2-payment 3-transaction 4-transaction details). It would be more efficient to have the transaction details screen build into the same screen as the transaction screen. I don't see a need for a 4th screen, especially when you have click to go back to the previous screens when investigating multiple payments.

Invoicing - Ability for customers to update their email addresses
It's not possible for customers to update their own email address eg if we send an invoice or statement to an old email address and they want to change it. Would be good if customer could update it and we just verify it. Or some kind of automated form they get to speed updating it.

preview invoice
In the old invoicing you can preview the invoice without downloading a PDF. I would like to view them again in the new invoicing without having to download a PDF.
1 voteThis is already possible, and you're even able to preview an invoice without using your mouse now with keyboard shortcuts! If you type Alt-Shift-V(Opt-Sift-V on a Mac)
Otherwise, you'll see this option next to Save within new invoicing view.

Invoice - Ability to change text and sort the invoice by the headers
Improve Text Formatting - Invoicing
Ability to change all text to caps, lowercase or sentence case (like Microsoft word feature) to enable more consistent, professional invoicing in less time. For example when adding multiple billable expense lines.
Ability to sort invoice lines by the headers, i.e. description (alphabetically), by price or amount high-low etc.

Invoicing - Increase the character limit for terms on quotes using Standard-type branding themes
Increase the character limit for invoice and quote terms for the standard invoice template.
Currently the limit is 1000 characters and that is not enough. Please please look into this! It is so important to be able to have terms in the body of the invoice and very useful to be able to use the terms section for this.21 votes -
Invoice - Add a page break to standard invoices
Invoicing - Ability to insert a page break in long invoices
Some of our invoices have long narrations with multiple lines. At present if one of your line items goes over to a second page you have no ability to define where the page break should be. It would be a great feature to be able to place a page break at any point in the invoice.

eInvoicing - Ability to use for non VAT registered businesses
Massive oversight by Xero.
E-Invoicing only available to VAT registered companies as you have to enter a VAT number. What about all the non-registered companies?
Why can't you select that you aren't VAT registered and be able to benefit by E-Invoicing?10 votesHi everyone, we appreciate interest from non-VAT registered businesses that would like to make use of the efficiencies eInvoicing brings.
As the UK do not have a standard business number, this create complexity in being able to identify and register non-VAT registered businesses on the Peppol network.
While this is an idea that we'd like to continue to gain interest from our community in, we want to be upfront we don't have any plans to support eInvoicing for non-VAT registered businesses in the near term.
We're actively advocating for this with the UK Government as part of their recent e-Invoicing consultation.

Invoicing - Follow up email after payment
It would be useful to be able to send an email to a customer xx days after an invoice is paid.
This could be used for all sorts of things from offering discounts on new orders to reminding them to leave a review for your service. A bit more of a CRM style feature but would help with business workflow and keeping actions in one place.

New invoicing - Unlink due date from invoice date
I am having problems with Xero automatically changing my due by date when I adjust the invoice date. I found a previous post where someone had the same problem and it was marked as resolved. But that is not the case. We often draft invoices for a customer - with carefully calculated due dates based on the service to be performed. When I go back to issue and approve the invoice - the invoice date changes but I want the due date to stay the same. I have to recalculate now as Xero changes it. Can this be fixed -…
2 votesSorry to hear the troubles you're running into here, Jenny. If you're experiencing performance issues, or some thing isn't working as you'd expect it to, it's best looked into with a closer lens. Please raise a case with our Xero Support team on Xero Central and our specialists can investigate with you 1-1. Thanks!

Projects - Track labour costs without generating an invoice
I would like to track labour costs in project without invoicing them. The invoicing is done differently. It goes per bag packed, but I would like to know how much on labour it costs to pack the bags. Thank you.

Invoicing - Due Date to default to invoice date.
Invoice and bill due dates to default to issue date.
As above. Basically when you enter the initial date of an invoice or a bill, the due date defaults to the date you have entered. This will save additional data entry if your dates are the same.
In the case of a franchise where Remits are sent via a supporting booking software, the invoice/bill due date is always the same as the issue date.
Please default the due date to the invoice date once selected. but still obviously give the option to change the due date to a user specified…
2 votesHi Adam, there are a couple of options here including the suggestion that Geoff's provided. 🙂
Right now, within Invoice Settings you can set a default for the Due Date, this could be based on the invoice issue date if you choose.
It's also possible to set a due date for an individual contact within their contact record.

Invoicing - Move multiple rows at a time
Move multiply rows in invoice template and insert multiple rows in invoice template
2 votesWhile we don't have any work planned for being able to move multiple lines at a time, I've slightly adjusted the title of the idea here for this specifically, and we'll continue to track the interest for adding multiple lines at once from this idea.
If there are any plans made we'll share update on each idea respectively. Thanks

New invoicing - Don't open new tab when clicking the contact
Dont automatically open a new tab when clicking the contact link in the new invoice or give option to turn this off.
There is Alt+click shortcut on all browsers to do this already.
Making this auto open as default leads to too many unnecessary tabs and attributing to a more messy workflow8 votesThanks for your detailed feedback, everyone. We do find that customers have differing expectations of how clicking a link should behave.
With the current behaviour, opening the contact in a separate tab means that users don't lose any information they may have entered in the invoice.
We don't have any plans for changing this in the near term but it'll be good for us to continue to get a sense of the interest around this from our community here. If there are any changes that may impact this we'll share an update with you all here.

Projects - Ability to import to projects
Ability to import bills, invoices and project lists into Xero Projects.
Purpose: It is beneficial for organisation that heavily rely on Xero projects, as this feature will help them do their invoicing and track their expenditure.
216 votesHey community, we understand an option to import Projects is something everyone that's voted on this idea would find valuable, and that this could speed up your workflow and improve accuracy when managing a high volume of projects or migrating from another system.
While not a solve for all aspects of a project, within the bills side of things we released the ability to upload bills that might reduce the time taken in manually entering data for project related bills, now.
Being open and honest, we don't have any plans for enabling the import of projects to Xero. We know this isn't the update you're hoping for here, but want to give clear expectation so you can make the best decision for your business.

Invoicing - Increase the number of billable expenses shown on the selection screen
Xero decided to limit the number of billable expenses one can view at a time when invoicing to 10, as was explained to me, because some organizations have a large number of billable expenses and it taxes the system and slows down the process of invoicing if more than 10 show. The exact opposite effect happens, however. Now, one has to page through dozens of windows to find the billable expense, instead of simply scrolling through 100+ bills. Even worse, there is no way to sort the bills, so the target of the invoice may be on page 36 taking…
1 voteHey Scott, really appreciate your feedback on our update here. We want to be transparent that the change to billable expenses in invoicing was something that we implemented due to lots of feedback that we received, and we don't have intentions on returning to the previous behaviour. On review, we first marked this as feedback based on it being a removal of a new feature, however we will shift this to Not in Pipeline to set expectation.
This means other members will still be able to vote on this idea, and we can track if this is still an idea that trends.

Invoicing - Enable "make one for all" invoicing options for all customers in a group
Enable "Make one for all" invoices for all contacts in a specific group/s
1 voteHi! Did you know it's already possible to do this in Xero?
To create an invoice for a customer group, you can click the drop down arrow next to the Invoice option from the Invoice list view you'll see your Contact groups where you can select which group to create invoices for.
You can find more information on this in our Xero Central help article - Invoice a group of customers. 🙂
To ask questions about using Xero in community you can post or join Discussions on Xero Central. Thanks
