Projects Reporting - Include tracking
Projects - ability to use tracking categories when using the project reporting. At present when project data is entered into xero there is no report that can be filtered using tracking categories

Reports - Profit and Loss: Show deviations between accounts from period to period
We're only a small business with a lot of recurring revenue and expenses. We use the The P&L to track changes in activity from month to month. It would be really useful to be indicate any changes from the previous month that with an up (^) or down (v) indication, or maybe a color indication.
To remove distractions, it would be useful to associate a tolerance (+/-% or value) to each account code. Changes below that tolerance would be ignored.
I'm not an accountant, but having talked to a few, they seem to use a similar technique when looking for trends in the business

Batch payment - Link to source bill
When making a batch payment, it's always a pain to have to exit to get the missing bank details.
I'd love there to be a link to the bill to check the bank details on the document. Adding that extra layer of protection as well for those who want to make sure the bills bank details actually match back to the payments.

Is this detail that would commonly change for a supplier you work with? Generally when creating a batch this information is pulled from the contacts record.

AU Payroll - Tracking/Department Coding for reports
Payroll Department Coding - to be able to put a department code on all payroll categories and report to show employee name/gross wages/department coding assigned to payroll. The only way in Xero at the moment is through timesheets but this does not allow for all payroll categories to have a department code allocated. And when producing a timesheet report it does not show the $ gross wages for each employee only the hours. Need to include coding on allowances, leave and super.

Contacts - Improve UK Postcode Lookup
Xero has the facility to look up UK addresses by postcode when entering new contacts etc.
Unfortunately it usually makes a such a mess of the address, I end up editing it all again anyway!
UK Postcode lookups can return a Company Name (e.g. if there are multiple companies registered at the same address.) Xero adds this company name again to the address. In our case, that is a duplicate of the Contact name, so we take that out to avoid it appearing twice.
UK Postal counties are obsolete and should no longer be used in postal addresses. Royal Mail stopped using counties years ago, and stopped providing it in the postcode data. If you use their postcode/address finder today, https://www.royalmail.com/find-a-postcode - the address returned never includes a county. (Their idea of what a county is, and the "actual" county were often two entirely different things: over the years, the boundaries of various counties changed, some counties were abolished, but good old Royal Mail never updated the counties for their purposes!)

- Examples:
- IG11 7BB : Xero returns "Essex" as the "State", duplicates the house number in the Road name, puts "GBR" in the Country. All this has to be fixed up.
(Barking, IG11 is in Greater London and has not been in the county of Essex since 1965!)
- EC1V 2NX , E14 3JB, many others... Xero returns City: London, State: "Middlesex"
Greater London isn't really a county. Middlesex was abolished in 1965 - most became part of London with other towns going to other counties.

Although people sometimes still like to write the county in their addresses, they are no longer needed, and the post counties were just adding to the confusion, hence why they were dropped.
KT5 8LS - SURBITON. Xero returns "Surrey". It used to be in Surrey before 1965, but is today in the borough of Kingston (Greater London). No Surrey needed! Again duplicates the flat/house name in the road name. So we get: "Flat XX, 121 Chiltern Drive, Flat XX"
KT6 5JE - SURBITON. This IS in the administrative county of Surrey, but you don't need the county on the address. No Surrey needed! (Sorry, Surrey!)

Invoice - Email to create an invoice in Xero
Similar to the ability to email bills into Xero, can we get the ability to email in invoices into Xero please?

If you haven't already, we'd recommend exploring connecting Hubdoc to your organisation. It's possible to Publish documents from Hubdoc to Xero as an Invoice.

UK Payroll - Individual Payslip PDF file name should default to the person's name
When downloading the individual payslip it would be nice if the PDF would say the persons name rather than the default filename of Payslip (1) etc

Orders - Keep the order date when copying to an invoice
When creating a bill from a purchase order, it does not bring over the purchase order date. The date automatically changes to the date you are processing.

Broken down to location/ postal code with the total cost for a contact/supplier in any period is needed.
I am aware 'the expenses by contact' gives you the total spend in a year but this doesn't filter down to location/ addresses or post code. At year end a key part of our process is reporting local suppliers for our social impact and purpose, we have to complete a time consuming exercise entering addresses/location manually line by line for key suppliers in excel. This information is reported to our Board of Directors, to our Group Board and as part of our Social impact reporting annually.Broken down to location/ postal code with the total cost for a contact/supplier in any period is needed.

VAT - Show Unreconciled Statement Lines for a VAT period when completing a VAT return
A note of outstanding, unreconciled statement lines before completing a VAT return.
Currently you click review and can see the VAT return; however, it would be useful to have a box that would flag if there any unreconciled transactions within the VAT period.
This would help to ensure no transactions are missed when completing a VAT return.

Looking for a report under a project where I can have a breakdown of all invoices with dates and gross total paid for a specific supplier - I've been told this is not available and yet all the information is in the system but no report available

The option to show bills/expense in a Report on a Cash Basis. So show paid bills only not all bills,

Sales Invoice | Advanced template - Merge field to show applied credit
Having recently started using advanced templates for our invoices, I've discovered that credits applied to invoices don't show separately and instead get added with payments, thus showing as net payments. I believe the credits field is only available for use on advanced statement templates so can the credits field be made available for adcvanced invoice templates please?
That would then give us the ability to display the total amount credited on an invoice and the total paid towards it on separate lines.

Statement - Generate customer statement balance report with multiple currencies that can be exported to Excel
Hi, I'm wondering if there is a method to generate a customer statement balance report with multiple currencies (including a contact filter) and export it in Excel spreadsheet.
I've attempted a few approaches previously:
Using the path: 1) Business->Invoice -> Send statements. However, this only displays the source currency and doesn't offer an Excel export option.2) Accounting -> Report -> Account transactions
While this displays transactions in multiple currencies, it doesn't provide the option to show the balance brought forward from the previous month.3) Accounting -> Report -> Customer Invoice Activity Unfortunately, this report only shows the functional currency and doesn't allow generation in the source currency either.
Is there an alternative method or solution to achieve this?

Check Register: Add leading and trailing asterisks to amount fields
Improve security of printed checks by adding leading and trailing asterisks to amount fields.
Example $150.99***** and one-hundred fifty and 99/100****** dollars
Makes alteration of amounts more difficult.

Report - Net Functional Column should add up on Account transaction report
The Net functional (for us GBP) column in the Account Transaction Report does not function correctly if we are considering the full GL.
Whether it shows a Debit or Credit as plus or minus depends on the type of account.
For example, an accrual Jnl posts Debit Expense/Credit Liabilities but both show as Positive in the Net column.We run the full GL to conduct our analysis and we re-calculate this column every time.
Then we can confirm that the list balances as the total of the double-entries should be nil.Is the current presentation of any use to anyone?

Xero Expenses: Automatic receipt scan in web app
Add the ability to extract data from scanned receipts in the Xero Expense web app.
At the moment, both the mobile app and HubDoc can automatically scan receipts and extract data (date, amount, payee, etc). This doesn't work in the web app and Hubdoc cannot send documents to the Expense app.
We use a document scanner to scan multiple reciepts at a time and then batch upload to our expense keeping app (Zoho Expense). Drag and drop multiple receipts into Zoho Expense and the software will automatically extract the data from multiple reciepts at a time. This is more user friendly and faster than taking photos one at a time on a mobile app, or uploading them on the Xero Expense web app where we have to manually extract the data.
