  1. When adding a new contcat from within an invoice, it would be useful to be able to add the contact first/last name. Currently you can only add the business name, email, phone number and addresses. That means unless you open up the new contact in a separate page to add in the contact first/last name (which is time consuming), then when the invoice is completed the email cant be addressed to the person's name. Would be much simpler to have first/last name field within the new contact section of the invoice.

  2. I really don't want the details of the invoice to be in the body of the email. It looks ridiculous and some of it could be private. Please change it back or tell me how to change it. I really hate it in it's current format.

    Hi Teresa, this is actually possible already. 

    From the Email Settings you can select the Sales invoice template and you'l just want to deselect the 'Include action to online invoice and detail summary' then Save. 

    I do want to note, this does strip back the email formatting so you might like to send yourself a copy to see what this then looks like once the option has been disabled. Thanks

    Appreciate you sharing ideas from your own clients, David. It'd be great to know more of how this could help their business or the reasons why they'd like to see the post code in this report specifically. 

    Atm, if needing a full list of contacts and their post codes perhaps an export from Contacts would be of use. Thanks 

  4. add column in invoice overview. Hi, I was wondering if I can add a column in the program in invoices overview. When I used sage 50 account before, I could see a list of invoices and first few lines of what the include. Now when I go to a customer and would like to check how much I charged for particular job and I don't know when it was done, I need to open each individual invoice to see description.   6. I'm invoicing through Xero and I want to allow customers to save their card on file in my stripe account when they pay an invoice.

    This way, we can bill them again in the next cycle. We deal with metered pricing, so the value of the invoice is different each month based on usage.

I'm currently re-sending an invoice (manually sending a reminder) and I'd like to attach the email delivery receipt (which I have because I originally sent the invoice to me and then forwarded to the client from Outlook but that's a different set of bugfix/feature requests) as a file to the reminder. The only way to do this at the moment is to back out of the invoice sending screen, attach it to the original invoice and then send the invoice with the attachments both old and new.

    Aaah I see, thanks for the extra detail, Freya. Appreciate where you're coming from.   8. When I am logged-in to Xero as a user with "Invoice only" and "only create drafts" permissions, it is my understanding that this user should not be able to create new invoice items or see menu options for creating new items. However, it appears this user can see this menu option when adding a line item to an invoice and attempt to create a new item, leading to an ambiguous error message.

  9. After years of using Xero and the majority of our invoices each month being repeat ones, I am increasingly frustrated with the lack of the most basic features for repeating invoices.

    Combined, there are thousands of upvotes for the most basic features, most of which have been submitted years ago. And seem to go totally ignored by the Xero team.

    I've listed just a few of these incredibly basic features below:

    • Reporting - Report that shows Repeating Invoices
    • Repeating invoices: Ability to copy them to create new ones
    • Repeating Invoices - Generate invoice before invoice

    Sorry to hear your frustration here, Bee. I want to assure you that our product teams pay close attention to the ideas shared by our customers in product ideas here and regularly review to incorporate customer driven changes into our development.

  10. To be able to Assign & invoice a billing client within blue Xero. It’s not unusual to have a central billing agency looking after subsidiaries accounts so the ability to bill the agency while having the subsidiary with thin your system to raise the invoice against would work well.

  11. Please add option to show invoice values excl/incl tax in invoice list views

    Bulk invoice features. We would like to see more functionality added to the bulk editing in the sales overview/invoices:
    - Bulk editing of Due dates
    - Bulk editing of Expected date
    A more consistent 'Tally by checkbox' - this works really well in the invoices lists where a sum of all checked invoice values are shown but this feature is missing in invoice searches.

    Hi Jonas, it's best if we have each idea as a separate thread in the forums here so other members know exactly what they're adding their vote for and our product teams can gauge the interest in a specific feature.

    I see you've already found and voted for this idea on bulk editing expected date. I've also just added your vote to this idea on bulk date change, and I'll slightly amend the title of your idea here for the 'Tally by checkbox' when you have a search applied.

    While the current amount due shown on the list view will show as tax inclusive, if you'd like to view inclusive v exclusive you could run the Receivable Invoice Summary report where you have the option to add Gross, Net and Tax columns. Alternatively if there's a specific reason you'd like to view this from the list of invoices…

  12. To add a tick box when converting from quote to invoice to keep quote date and not for it to default to today's date. Similar to the option to mark as invoiced or not. It would be great if the date does not default today's date if it is revised but stay on the original quote date. Once the quote is accepted and it is converted to an invoice, we please need the ability for the quote to stay on the original quote date and not to default to today's date.

  13. Invoice and bill due dates to default to issue date.

    As above. Basically when you enter the initial date of an invoice or a bill, the due date defaults to the date you have entered. This will save additional data entry if your dates are the same.

    In the case of a franchise where Remits are sent via a supporting booking software, the invoice/bill due date is always the same as the issue date.

    Hi Adam, there are a couple of options here including the suggestion that Geoff's provided. 🙂

    Right now, within Invoice Settings you can set a default for the Due Date, this could be based on the invoice issue date if you choose.

    It's also possible to set a due date for an individual contact within their contact record.

  14. Branding Themes (in Invoice Settings) that are templates for Invoices, Statements, Purchase Orders, Quotes, Remittances, you name it, can only currently be 'deleted' when no longer required (ie, if a staff member resigns). BUT, individual staff themes have generally been attached to a transaction and once that 'theme' is deleted, you lose the history/audit capability. Being able to ARCHIVE instead will maintain the integrity of all the 'theme' template data it was use for.

  16. Currently when you filter all project reports by a date range it pulls the report based on when you assigned the invoice/expense to a project. Please update the report to pull by the invoice/bill date similarly to all other reports in Xero. This is crucial so you can compare your project reports to all other financial statements to confirm accuracy.

  17. We recently converted from Quickbooks Desktop and are trying to reproduce a "Sales by Customer" Report that sorts descending by gross invoice amount but groups the contacts within the contact group together. In Xero, I cannot figure out a way to accomplish this.

  18. Populate Contact Purchase Defaults when Bills arrive as e-invoice or from 3rd party app.

    As a bookkeeper I was so looking forward to promoting and using e-invoicing, but unfortunately it's not going to work for me (and many of my clients). This is because we often have invoices with A LOT of line items which are brought into Xero just as a total with one line only.     Thanks for your support here, everyone. Appreciate there is some interest in this from people emailing bills to their organisation, or importing via a 3rd party application. 

    We wanted to share a recent change we've made for those using eInvoicing - invoices received via Xero's eInvoicing will apply Contact defaults (such as a set default 'Purchase account) when creating the invoice in Xero. 😁

  19. Please leave the history of an invoice EXACTLY as it was in the classic invoicing.

    The new invoicing doesn't show the invoice that it was copied from or copied to and this is very important as a trail.

    I really don't understand why so many important features from the classic invoicing has been omitted.

    Hi everyone, as another step toward improving history of new invoicing you'll find you'll now see an entry when an invoice is sent, and the email address it has been sent to. 

    We appreciate this is something we've heard a fair amount of feedback on and we hope helps in your journey to using new invoicing.
