  1. The contacts screen has the financial details Bank account i.e Bank account name, BSB code e.g. 123-456, Bank account number e.g. 1234567890.

However these are not fields on the invoice.

  2. Our contact cards are set up automatically through an API directly from our billing systems (we have multiple systems that are all coded differently). Fields like currency and branding are not updated with this link; therefore, the fields default to our Xero account settings. We want to export the contact card list with these fields to identify the clients with information that needs updating, to then fix and import in one step instead of updating each card.

  3. The chart of accounts should really have opening stock, closing stock and dividends as these are items that are usually needed, or perhaps some codes should be blank and we can amend them to our clients needs. The Chart of accounts are currently very basic and when adding a new code it should give you the available codes under each section i.e. for direct costs give an indication of which 300 code is available and where it should be rather than us having to guess.

  4. Please have the option to see both the invoice number and the reference for sales invoices. I have used the reference to indicate how an invoice is paid and the amount if not the same as the invoice. I have one transaction coming into the bank for a days worth of invoices paid by credit card. I then find and match for the pay method and date and it lists all the invoices and their invoice numbers. The reference tells me if any invoices were part paid, or paid with two different methods. Like, part cash and balance by credit…

Hi all. From today Find & Match shows both invoice number and the reference field for sales invoices. Note that we've also added other details too (such as check numbers and other payment references) to both Find & Match and the Account Transactions page.

I trust life will be a little easier not having to click through to work out which invoice is which!

Check out what else is new in today's release notes.

  5. It makes no sense to always automatically change the description, price etc when the inventory code is changed.

Make this "feature/bug!" optional, very simple to implement and makes XERO more flexible.

Hi David, could you provide a bit more detail of where you're finding this behaviour? It might even be best to raise this with our specialists at Xero Support who can get a closer look in.

Editing an inventory items Item Code can be done independently so you shouldn't have to update the description or price.

  6. Xero needs to have an option in either Income Type or Tax Scale for employees on the Seasonal Worker Program, ie PALM Workers, so that the system automatically taxes them at the flat rate of 15%.

At the moment I have approx 33 such employees and I must adjust their tax in every single payrun.

The ATO have a specific code (W > P) that should be used for these workers under STP Phase 2 reporting. I refer you to the table at the following website page: https://www.ato.gov.au/Business/Single-Touch-Payroll/In-detail/Single-Touch-Payroll-Phase-2-employer-reporting-guidelines/?page=5#Tax_treatment

  7. So at present - as mentioned below it doesn't really make any sense to be logging hours for the day in the morning when staff arrives as every day could be different.

I'd really like a central point that staff can log in through - as opposed to using personal phone. it needs to be a clock in and clock out system with automatic break deduction. At the moment we use the Timestation app that the guys clock in and out with a QR code card then i have to run a report each week to manually input into timesheets...…

  8. When I am manually entering a contact bank account number, I find it disconcerting to be warned to enter the bank account number after I leave the BSB code field. But I HAVE to leave the BSB code field in order to move to the Bank account number field! Leaving the BSB field is not a mistake!
I think the warning would be better triggered if you attempt to click on 'Save & close' without completing both fields.

  9. There is system wide error in the back-end template that you use to generate invoice emails. Please refer screen captures attached. You will see that I have two lines in my Invoice 005614 that are text descriptions of services only so are effectively subheadings and have no account code and no "value". They appear correctly in the PDF invoice with a blank in the "Amount NZD" column but they appear incorrectly with a value of "0.00" on the email the customer receives. I'm annoyed at myself that I have never noticed and reported this bug before because it looks these…

  10. There should be an audit trail in Payroll detailing when changes to an Employee record is made (for example: date an address was updated for an employee and what it was until that date, likewise for other details such as email address, bank account number, tax code etc). As an Employer we should be able to rely on the digitised Payroll system we are using to determine when changes to an Employee's record has been made. In terms of creating an audit trail, this doesn't necessarily only apply to Payroll only and should ideally be something that is normal and…

  13. When Posting a customer invoice it would be very useful to be able to see customer address and ROI vat number so I can apply the correct vat code. ATM I have to go to contact details for that information then back into invoice posting

Hi Gillian, understand it doesn't accomplish all of your idea here. However you can view a contacts address from the invoice. If you click on the 'To' field once you've added the contact you'll be able to view their email, postal and delivery addresses and telephone.

  14. Have two codes - one for rental income & one for rental expenses.
When reconciling bank transactions to these codes, have the ability to allocate them to a property.
Have a feature where you can view the outstanding transactions for each property and select the transactions to go on the statement to the client for that month.
Auto generate the management fee for the month based on pre-selected criteria for that property - either % or fixed amount.
Auto generate a bill from this statement for the money that needs to be paid to the landlord.

Thanks for sharing and your interest in the idea here. Being open this isn't a feature we have any plans of implementing in the near term.

However, some of what's been described here can be achieved using Tracking. For example, you could create accounts in your Chart of Accounts for Rental Income and Rental Expenses. You'd then use a Tracking category for your Properties, listing each property as a separate option within that category.

Alternatively, if you're after more specific tools for managing properties we'd recommend looking into apps that can integrate with Xero and offer more services that could suit your business.

  15. Add the ability to display the current actual bank balance from the bank feed alongside the statement balance and Xero balance. This would help users quickly see their true available funds without needing to log into their bank separately.
    Currently:

We can only see the statement balance and Xero balance
Must log into bank separately to see actual current balance
No way to quickly verify available funds within Xero

    Proposed Solution:
Add a "Current Bank Balance" column that pulls the real-time balance from the bank feed, similar to QuickBooks Online. This would:

    Display alongside existing balance columns
    Update automatically with…

  17. Ability to apply a vendor credit note to a customer invoice. Currently need to code to a clearing account than go to the customer invoice and apply to the same clearing account to clear. Would be nice to have the ability to apply directly to the customer invoice.

Hey Matthew, thanks for sharing this idea - this is actually already possible in the General Ledger detail report!

From the 'Grouping/Summarising' drop down menu, you can select 'Group by Account Code and Name' to organise the transactions by Account Code.

I've also included a screenshot of where to find this option 😊

  19. Automatically generate payment invoices when creating payroll.
The current help article suggests creating spent money entries on the fly when reconciling.
It would be better to be able to generate accurate payment and separate code tax invoices when the payday is filed.
    The advantages are that:
    - the payment is reconciled to where it is created ensuring it is correct,
    - the invoices are easily selectable into batch payments from payable invoices which correctly connects to bank batch payments,
    - payments to IRD could be raised to different contacts for each payment type allowing the right references to be attached…

  20. It would be very useful to include on the General Ledger Detailed Report the VAT Rate instead of or as well as the VAT %. Then it would be possible to identify items that should be included in box 6 of the VAT return that have been entered with a No VAT code.
