New invoicing - Integrate with Chrome Exporting Tables extension
In original invoicing the Chrome CopyTables extension worked to copy the data from the invoice into Excel for creating pivot tables; that feature doesn't work in new invoicing. We work with multiple vendors on a single project and it's significantly easier to place those orders by copying the tables from Xero into Excel and creating a pivot table. If the base code can't be adjusted to work with extensions like that than being able to export an invoice as a CSV would be helpful.
1 voteHi Jonathan, appreciate the feedback however this is something you'd need to contact Chrome about in relation to how their extension works and if any change can be made to apply to Xero's new invoicing

CIS - Allow 210 CIS Labour invoice to be added to a service
I would like to be able to assign the 210 CIS labour account to a service for CIS labour. At the moment, I have a couple of services for CIS labour and some for non CIS labour.
For the Non CIS labour, I can creat a service called 'labour' and add the account code to it.
This can't be done with CIS labour at the moment as Xero won't allow it. This means that for each line item of CIS labour in an invoice I have to manually add the 210 CIS account.
This is unnecessarily timecomsuming and allows for…1 vote -
memo
On the dashboard - near debtors/creditors/account watchlist there should be something like a pin up board where you or your adviser can write short memos or notes.
For example, I set up a new GST code (I am the Adviser) that will require the client to select this each time their create a particular invoice. As this process is new, you could write a quick reminder to the client - so each time they log in they see the reminder (the pinup board might even flash up on the screen when they first login too as the first thing they…

Bills - Improve Contact Matching for Bill Imports
The current bill import functionality relies primarily on contact names for matching, which creates two significant problems:
1. Unreliable Contact Matching
- Contact names can change over time
- Even minor differences (single character) result in creating new duplicate contacts
- No fallback to more reliable identifiers
2. Character Encoding Problems
- Special characters (e.g., apostrophes in names like "O'Connor") cause import failures
- This particularly affects common surnames and business names
Proposed Solution
Implement a hierarchical matching system for contacts during bill imports:
- First attempt: Match by account code
- Second attempt: Match by database ID
- Final fallback: Match by contact name
Benefits

Bulk update account
Bulk update account for multiple line entries to allow for easier reanalysis of multiple line items within the software.
Include a feature to make it easier to change the account for multiple line entries at once through the supplier side to make it easier when bookkeeping to reanalyse multiple line items, rather than editing them one by one if they get reanalysed within the accounts.
I.e. for a client I originally posted all AXA payments as insurance, in the accounts they were reanalysed as other staff costs, at the moment I need to edit every single line item included in…1 voteHi Adam, we have a feature called Find and recode that will enable you to bulk update the account code for multiple lines at once. You could filter by the contact and then recode whatever lines of transactions as needed.
I'd recommend giving this a try in the demo co first and potentially working with your accountant before implementing this in your organisation. Have more of a read on this here.

Reporting - Show Invoice Approved Date in the Current Nominal transactions Report for Turnover reconciliation
Turnover per XERO and VAT declared Net Sales should be ideally Equal ,however often may not match and therefore need reconciling-which is important to understand the difference from both the YE accounts and HMRC point of view .
There should be a report in XERO which can facilitate this reconciliation rather than use spreadsheets -which is time consuming when the information is already existing in XERO
One of difference arising is -"The Date" invoice created and approved -are different and will report in different periods of the VAT return and Xero Sales Nominal Account
Example -Invoice created and left as…

Projects | Quotes - apply contact defaults when creating quote from a project
When creating a customer record, we complete the sales defaults, as different customers have different requirements. However, when raising a quote within Projects, the sales defaults for the associated customer do not populate the relevant fields within the quote.
We are in the UK and have some customers who are CIS and VAT registered, and require a specific sales account, VAT treatment, and we use a particular sales invoice layout. All of these things can be specified in the default settings for the customer. However, when creating a quote for those customers, through Projects, the customer defaults do not get…

Reporting - Account Transactions need open close balances
When you change report settings on the Account Transactions (NEW) report to "Group By Account Code", you don't get the option to "Show Open and Closing Balances" or a "Running Balance" unlike the default option of "Group By Account". We use Account Codes more than Account for locating transactions and having the running balance and open / closing balances would make the report more useable.
1 voteGood news, everyone! Our Reporting team have been working hard behind the scenes to develop some great additions in the Account Transactions report recently.
We've released a new options to sort and summarise by 'Account Code & Name'.
Like you've asked - When sorting by this option, you'll still be able to view Open and Closing Balances! 🙂 -
1099 Reports - Multiple changes
The 1099 functionality is not all that helpful currently with the way US laws are.
From what I understand about 1099-Misc, there are three key things that determine whether or not you must provide for a regular vendor (there are lost of odd rules for attorneys and the like so I'm just writing about your regular vendor.)
1) Usually only applies to payments >= $600
2) Usually excludes Corporations
3) Usually excludes payments made by credit card or 3rd party network like PayPal due to 1099-KFrom the IRS Website: Form 1099-K. Payments made with a credit card or payment…
1 voteHi everyone, we appreciate feedback and conversation on how we could improve Xero's 1099 reporting over the years.
Some time on from when this idea was first shared on Feature Requests - We've made lots of updates to Xero's 1099 and I'd like to round back on some of the ideas raised here.
👉 Majority of account types can now be selected in the rules set up
👉 We released Contacts Management which allows you to update a contact's W9 business classification, and a checkbox to automatically add them into a 1099 contact group, and select this group in your rules. If they're a corporation, don't tick the checkbox, and they won't appear in reports.
👉 As per IRS guidelines, any payments made via a credit card or third party network are reported on a 1099-K form.
👉 At this time we don't have plans for developing the ability to…
