  1. If a staff member has Manager User access to a client file this doesn’t allow them to add users to a file with Payroll Admin unless they have Payroll Admin permissions.
    It would be good if people are allowed to MANAGE the access without necessarily having themselves.
    Can this idea please get implemented as it will avoid adding administrators with Payroll Admin permissions to our large client list when it isn’t required.

  2. When An employee has a salary Sacrifice an option to directly link it.
    In my case its for his pension so an option to link it directly to the pension so it appears on the pension filings.

  3. Right now there’s no functionality in Xero to record credit card account in an employees records, by adding this feature would allow payroll to be paid directly to a credit card.

  4. My EOM reports include PL, BS, Receivables AND payroll. Management report doesn't allow payroll reports to be added. Please allow this to be added to minimise time generating additional reports.

  5. Payroll Employee Summary Report

    Is there a way to have this report show the actual period the wages are for? Currently the report shows "for the period 17 April 2024 to 17 April 2024, which is the date the payroll is paid. BUT the period is actually for 10 April 2024 to 16 April 2024.

  7. Accrued Earnings Payroll item in Payroll

    We need to record a Project Incentive Payment as an accrual on payslips. These accruals vary per project with some accrued hourly, daily or weekly and are paid at the end of the project.

    The Accrued Earnings payment would be setup in Payroll Settings, with a running total displayed on payslips.

  9. Currently the PPL pay item can only be allocated to an expense account.

    This is not in line with the Australian Accounting Standard.

    Can Xero update the ability to allocate to a liability account, please?

  11. Sometime in the last week, the order in which data is presented in the Payroll Activity Summary report has changed from
    - Earnings
    - Tax
    - Super
    - Net payable
    - Actual paid
    to
    - Earnings
    - Net payable
    - Actual paid
    - Super
    - Tax

    Put it back, please, it makes no sense to have something other than Wages less Tax equals Payable. Also reinstate the highlighted total lines in this report and in the Payroll Employee Summary, I'm ashamed to send this to my client with their IAS, it's not readable enough.

  12. We recently had an employee which had a leave type reinstated after a period of over 12 months of it not being used. There was a balance sitting in there for the duration of time that it wasn’t active, and therefore not showing on any payslips that were provided to the employee or filed. We are now in a position that we had to reactive this leave type to be in line with STP requirements and showing leave loading on a separate line.     Hey Amy, I know it's been a little while since you started your idea here. Taking another read through the situation you described, there are a couple of options which depend on whether you need a record of the adjustment.

    • If you do need a record of the adjustment you'd want to post an unscheduled pay run to reverse out the leave balance for the pay period in which it should have been paid out.
    • In the case you don't need a record, you could simply adjust the opening balance for the leave type within the employee's record.

    We have help for both of these processes detailed in this article on Xero Central.

  13. Employees cannot enter the number of kilometers to be claimed back in timesheets. A fix is to use the unit Hours instead of Kilometers. However in the Xero Me app they are only allowed to enter up to 24 Km (hours).
    More than 24 units are allowed to be entered directly into Xero but not through the Xero Me app.

    Interesting to hear how our customers are using some of our features to meet their needs. Not really being the original purpose of this feature, we want to be open that this isn't something we have plans for at this time.

    If you're in need of recording tracking for employee's, we'd recommend exploring the use of Xero expenses through which you can record and track employee mileage. With expenses being available with Xero Me now this also means you'd be able to record this via the app.

  14. We have multiple employees that have various deductions from their wages. This is causing the pay slip to spread accross two pages which is concerning as they may miss important information like messages at the bottom of a pay slip.
    There needs to be the either:
    1. The ability to change the payslip layout
    or
    2. Have two or three template options to choose from.

    Currently the whitespace at the top of the payslip could be utilised. The required business and employee information is great but could be in a better layout. Move the business information to the left, employee…

  15. In Australia one of the criteria to classify as a "small buisiness" is to have 15 or less employees.

    Could this also be reflected in Xero's pricing which jumps from 10 employees on payroll to 20.

    It would be nice to have a meet half way mark with a fair price for 15 employess.

  16. Would like to be able to add a fixed amount deduction as pension contributions. Currently the option is to manually add a pension contribution, but this cannot be submitted direct to NEST, so has to be manually typed into NEST.

I have an employee with an Attachment of Earnings Order (AEO) and whilst I have been able to set up the amount to be deducted on the payslip template each month, it appears that it is not possible to enter an opening balance on Xero for this deduction. I don't know if it is usual to show a YTD figure for AEOs - certainly Student loans have a YTD figure on the payslip and I would imagine that it will feature on the P60, but I can't see how Xero is going to produce this correctly without allowing me to…

  19. Xero and NEST do not always link.

    For example a client of mine has a pay date 15th September (pay period 15/08/23-14/08/23). This gets sent to NEST from Xero using a pay reference period 15/09/23-14/10/23. This results in the submission showing in the period following the current period on NEST.

    I have spoken to NEST and they advised that Xero is incorrect and need to change the pay reference period to match the pay period so the file is submitted to the correct period within NEST.

    Please can this issue be rectified to avoid manual submissions having to be made.

  20. PAYROLL AS AN ADD-ON IN AUSTRALIA

    Please allow payroll as an add on in Australia. The very basic plan is enough for most small businesses and sole traders, but the jump in price just to add one apprentice is prohibitive. I feel small businesses and tradies are not catered for well. We often don't need all the bells and whistles, but just something basic. To pay my apprentice via Xero will cost me an extra $360/year which is ridiculous.
