UK Payroll - Include tracking categories in Gross to Net report
To be able to file a Gross to Net report and subtotal by tracking category. It's the only way that we would be able to report per category of worker. This is built into Sage and really important for a lot of businesses.

Having a 2nd person as a Super Authoriser would be helpful when the 1st person goes on leave.

NZ Payroll - Allow net pay field to be highlighted in Pay Employees screen
It appears that in the last two weeks (submitted 23/2/2022) Xero rolled out a change to payroll, which possibly has some unforeseen implications.
It used to be that if you were only paying a small number of employees at one time, you could use the summary screen (capture attached) to copy and paste the net pay figure for each employee to your online banking portal to effect the actual payment(rather than exporting to a file, and then importing the file to the online banking which is a little clunky for small number of employees - there doesn't exist the…
1 voteSounds like you're wanting to copy the employees net pay from the pay run overview screen, but it's taking you into their payslip, Tom?
Instead you could download the payslips report by opening the required pay run, clicking 'View Reports'and selecting Payslips - This'll download a PDF with all the employees payslips included. From this, you can copy and paste each employee's net pays into your online banking. 🙂

NZ Payroll - Read Only access
With audited clients , we normally only give Read only access, but this excludes payroll access. So either we need to access for them, what the require, or we need to change access level to standard , which is not idea. Can you not have a read only role, with the option to include Payroll?

AU Payroll - Notify of invalid email addresses
Where payslips are emailed to an email address that is invalid and returns a kick back message.
Xero to forward kick back message or advise Payroll ID that sent emails out of a problem for an employee's email so that invalid email can be investigated and amended. We also use Xero Me for employees however not everyone sets this up on receipt of invite and just prefer to receive email advices.

UK Payroll - List contacts in alphabetical order, by Surname
It would help if the list of emplyees were sorted in alphabet order, by Surname. Also, a BACS report that just shows the employee, amount to be paid, and the total at the bottom.

AU Payroll - Assign an employee to more than one pay calendar
Ability to switch between payroll calendars for an employee with multiple roles eg Jane is on the weekly payroll for her role as studio manager. She is also paid monthly super only for her roles as a sub-contractor yoga teacher.
So far we have managed this by posting Jane's weekly pay, and then switching the payroll calender to process the super and then switching it back again. The problem is that if Jane is already in a draft weekly payrun the calendar can't be switched until the draft payrun is processed. This makes the process fiddly.

UK Payroll Reports - Option to export to Excel
P11 PAYE & P11 NIC annual reports, need to have an option to export as Excel, instead of auto downloading as a webpage.
My auditor requested these in Excel format and there was not an option for this, it would make it much easier if these type of reports could have download options, so you could export to excel.
This will also allow usage for tracking and internal auditing.
Yes, you could copy all and paste into excel, but this isn't always reliable as sometimes it will paste it all in to one cell, (which is a pain to…3 votesHey Sam, thanks for sharing this idea.
As you’ve found, it’s not possible to export the P11 reports in excel format. Totally understand that copying and pasting details from the .html file is a time-consuming process!
Just curious if there’s specific information required in the P11 reports that’s unavailable in our other reports?
You can find much of the same information in the ‘Gross to Net’ and ‘Payroll Activity Detail / Summary’ reports, and they do support saving as an excel file.
Let me know if that solves this one for you, and we’ll switch this one to delivered 😊

AU Payroll - Assign multiple tracking categories to pay items
Create the ability to allocate payroll items (eg Wages & Super) to multiple sets of tracking categories within payroll.
The only way that wages can be allocated to tracking categories is via timesheets or Journals (and only one set of tracking categories is able to be included in the timesheet).
This would be really helpful for many NFP's who require the ability to use two sets of tracking categories for all their expenses including Wages & Super (One set of tracking categories for departments and another for funding sources/grants).

UK Payroll - PAYE only Tronc Pay Item
Tronc pay item to be set up as PAYE applied only. Currently there are 2 options but one has PAYE and pension applied, the other has PAYE, NI and pension applied.
The standard Tronc set up is PAYE only, yet there is not pay item for this.3 votesHey Kayleigh, thanks for raising this idea with us! We appreciate that you've found an opportunity to improve our default Tronc pay items.
We've reviewed your idea and now it can gain support from other community members.
Along with votes, others can now comment to share additional detail about how your idea could improve their experience with Xero.

NZ Payroll - Add 'Cash up - Sick Leave' pay item
As a small business it is hard when employees take time off when sick especially with 10 days now. We have an incentive in our contract to either roll these over or cash them up however this is not available through Xero.
1 voteAppreciate you sharing detail and why you'd like a cash up option with us here. Being open, as this is more specific to your business(not regulatory) we don't have plans for adding a cash up option within NZ Payroll.
However, there are currently two ways you could achieve this within Xero Payroll today
- Leave the Sick Leave maximum to accrue value as nil this will allow an indefinite roll over of sick leave
- If you're wanting to cash up then enter a sick leave request for a single day and enter the total value of a week to cash up with a description of cash up
We hope this can meet the needs you're after in recording cash up for sick leave. Thanks

AU Payroll - Calculate termination pay pro rata
Currently if termination date falls in the middle of a pay cycle, the final pay run will not calculate the staff pay pro rata and therefore payroll admin has to manually update the payslip. Please include this feature so Xero constructs the payslip taking into consideration the termination date whilst still using the employee card details (rates, deductions etc etc).

AU Payroll - Revert to the "Pay Employees" page after a pay run has been filed
Please automatically revert to the "Pay Employees" page after a payrun has been filed. At the moment after a payrun is filed with the ATO we are taken back to the "Post Payrun" / "File" page. You then have to click on "Close" to be taken to the "Pay Employees" page. Why the extra step?

AU Payroll - Add Seasonal Worker option for income type/tax scale
Xero needs to have an option in either Income Type or Tax Scale for employees on the Seasonal Worker Program, ie PALM Workers, so that the system automatically taxes them at the flat rate of 15%.
At the moment I have approx 33 such employees and I must adjust their tax in every single payrun.
The ATO have a specific code (W > P) that should be used for these workers under STP Phase 2 reporting. I refer you to the table at the following website page: https://www.ato.gov.au/Business/Single-Touch-Payroll/In-detail/Single-Touch-Payroll-Phase-2-employer-reporting-guidelines/?page=5#Tax_treatment

UK Payroll - Include salary sacrificed contributions in direct pension filings
In XERO as at today when you set up a salary sacrificed arrangement, the amount being sacrificed by the employee will be added onto the employer's contribution and appear under the employer's field for reporting purposes.
But when you need to submit the pension report to the pension provider portal you will need to separate employee and employer contribution. It will be much easier to download the report, at least from the pension filings option, that shows all the breakdown of all information as it needs to be so it can just be uploaded in the pension provider portal without…

NZ Payroll - Annual earnings certificate for contractors
Currently we have employees and contractors paid fortnightly through payroll. When printing annual earnings certificates the cert list contractors as employees rather than contractors and scores xero's for kiwisaver deductions and other taxes etc.
We need to be able to print different annual earnings certs that reflect info for employees, and reflect info for contractors with different titles on cert as contractor, not employee.
