Repeat invoice - Create a placeholder for the tax year e.g. 2025/26
In repeating invoices we often use the tax year mostly in this format 2025/26 but also 25/26.
Whilst we can use placeholders [year]/[year+1] to give us 2025/2026 it is not ideal and this would need changing after the December invoices which is administratively the same as manually changing the tax year in the invoices at the beginning of the tax year.
It would be good to be able to use [taxyear] and not have to change it again.
This would be really easy to implement, therefore it probably will be overlooked. Here's hoping.1 vote -
bank reconciliation
Bank Reconciliations Report - There should be a report that enables you to extract all bank statement transactions and list out for each the actual accounting transactions they have been reconciled against. This should be by date range and then include all the same options as 'accounting transaction reports'.
This would be super helpful for audit, month end reviews, be able to identify different transaction types, review complex issues arising if a supplier or customer disputes etc..
The data is there, yet as users we are not able to get the data out.
Seeing one by one is not enough.

set balance sheet default date to "today"
The Balance Sheet currently defaults to the last EOFY date, which as at today (posting this suggestion) is 9 months ago. this is frustrating as you usually look for the figures as at now, and not the end of the last financial year. This functionality changed in one of the recent product updates. I know we can change the date and re-run the report, however it seems silly to default back to the end of the last FY and is a waste of time to have to do this always.

AU Payroll - Ability for Business Owner/Payroll Manager to view & complete draft timesheets
We want to be able to open and complete the employees draft timesheet, if it has already been started. We have enough to do without starting again from scratch what the employee may have already done but just not clicked the submit button.
It is idiotic that, as the owner and payroll manager, that we cannot see an employee's draft timesheets.
As the business owner and Payroll Admin, we should:
- not have compromise our recordkeeping by putting hours directly into the pay slip.
- not have to rely on our employees being available to correct the timesheet at any point in time; and
- certainly not have to rely on Xero Support to correct anything (simply because they will never be able to correct it in a timely fashion when we need them to - not their fault, just reality.)
What we should be able to do, is see any and all draft timesheets, regardless of who created them and alter them as necessary without having to mess around, wait on support or interrupt our employees during their down time.
As an employer, the absolute least we can do it make sure that our employees are paid correctly, on time and with the minimum of fuss.

Bank Reconciliation - Show Statement Type When Reconciling
When reconciling a bank account, it would be extremely useful to see WHERE a transaction is coming from (Bank Feed vs Imported Statement). Especially when deleting duplicate transactions, it'd be nice to know which is which as we prefer to not delete bank feeds when possible.

Email address field size too narrow sending multiple invoices
When emailing a batch of invoices every month I need to click in every email field in turn to scroll along to view second & sometimes third email addresses for that client. Can the email field be widened please. It is so narrow sometimes just one email address can't be seen in full.

Reports - Project financials to show task amount without time entry
Some of our projects are charged at a fixed price each month or per milestone, regardless of whether or not any time entries are recorded against the task.
In the Project Financials report, I would like the option to calculate a project's profit based on the actual invoices issued to the customer, right now, it only calculates income based on the time entries entered, not what is actually charged to the customer.
You could have a radio button to toggle between the two methods. Ideally it could be set in the individual project, as we have some time & materials and some fixed price.
However, calculating on the invoices issued for all projects, would cover us for both.
Note: if you go into a project and click on the Profitability tab, the profit is calculated correctly there (taking into account invoices issued even if no time entries are entered).

AU Payroll - Leave Request emails to show Organisation Name
Leave Request emails to show Organisation Name.
Currently, leave requests that come directly from Xero for an employee does not show which organisation the employee is from.
I have multiple businesses that I have payroll access and it is quite hard to recall all staff names from all businesses.
The subject line should show Jane Doh from XYZ Pty Ltd has requested leave. This would make identifying the company much simpler.4 votes -
JAX - Ability to move icon
Move "jax" and the new "Apps" icons into the Company Drop Down on the right hand side so they don't clutter our tool bar and you can go in there and chose to activate them or not.
Give us some choice please - I'm not loving having the search icon so far over now, as it has to make space for these 2, which I will not be using.
p.s. I did sign up for the Beta of jax and the first answer was wrong...1 voteThanks for your feedback, Rachel. I've passed this onto our product team.
We don't have any plans for changing the placement of the JAX icon atm, but it'll be good to get a sense from the community that also feel this way, here. We're keeping a close eye on feedback, and I'll let you know if there's any news to share with you here.

Remove credit card logos from invoice PDF
For businesses that only leverage ACH bank transfers as a form of payment, allow users the ability to remove all credit card logos from the invoice. It's not currently possible to remove the Visa and Mastercard logos from your invoices, when using Stripe as a payment service.

find and recode tracking
Find & Recode - Reference field
There is an idea posted that says you can already add or change tracking through Find & Recode. I have just been advised in Help by a specialist that I cannot add or change the Reference field of the Invoice Number field for multiple transactions as a group. Even though the Find and Recode article online AND the answer to the previous idea says that you can. Having to manually update the Reference one by one on each transaction is frustrating and time consuming.1 vote -
Sales Invoice - Ability to enter new contact first/last name from an invoice
When adding a new contcat from within an invoice, it would be useful to be able to add the contact first/last name. Currently you can only add the business name, email, phone number and addresses. That means unless you open up the new contact in a separate page to add in the contact first/last name (which is time consuming), then when the invoice is completed the email cant be addressed to the person's name. Would be much simpler to have first/last name field within the new contact section of the invoice.

UK payroll - Back date directorship start date
Xero should deal with back dating a directorship
As an accountants it is not unusual to only have a touch point around the year end and the client prepares the payroll. And the addition of new directors can be missed by the staff preparing the payroll.
No HMRC guidance is that you can adjust in the next month if the directorship is in the same payroll year. Xero does not work in this scenario. You need to revert each pay run back to the start if the directorship and re run and submit and if there is a weekly pay run this is a significant job.Xero should deal with back dating a directorship
