  1. We have a 2 year old issue where we changed an employee end date then reverted a payrun. HMRC has not recognised the revertion or that the resubmission is the same data so we have a duplicate that we haven't been able to sort out.
    To avoid this pain for others, could there be a pop-up warning if someone tries to revert (or otherwise change) a payrun where an included employee has an end date set? Or if the end date has been changed? The details of how it works can be as is easiest to implement.

  2. Apparently this functionality is enabled on the AU payroll system, but not NZ!

    Essentially, it would be great if an employee's annual salary figure could be displayed on their payslips. Given that this is already an option within Xero Payroll for Australia, surely this is an easy addition for Xero Payroll for New Zealand.

  3. Xero have added an automatic journal which credits salaries with the amount recovered from the government. This is great except we use tracking categories for all transactions in the P&L and the automatic journal leaves it blank. We have to post a manual journal to correct the posting. It would be useful for the automatic journal to include tracking.

  4. Xero Projects - Needs Total Estimated Hours & Total Actual Hours (for Tasks) at top of Project. We quote projects based on hours and $ for each task. We would like to be able to easily see 'total hours' at the top of the screen for the project, and then total hours used, so we can see how many hours we have left to go on the Project (helps us to keep worked hours in check).   5. Automatically generate payment invoices when creating payroll.
    The current help article suggests creating spent money entries on the fly when reconciling.
    It would be better to be able to generate accurate payment and separate code tax invoices when the payday is filed.
    The advantages are that:
    - the payment is reconciled to where it is created ensuring it is correct,
    - the invoices are easily selectable into batch payments from payable invoices which correctly connects to bank batch payments,
    - payments to IRD could be raised to different contacts for each payment type allowing the right references to be…

  6. When a Pay Template has been created for an employee, only the matching Earnings Rate should be overwritten by entries in Timesheets. Any other Earnings Rates that are set up in the Pay Template should still should still be available in the Payslip - they shouldn't have to be added back in again when processing the pay run. For instance, Fares & Travel Pattern Allowance needs to be paid over and above the Ordinary Hours recorded on the Timesheet.   9. We want to give access to reporting to one of our managers however we don't want them to be able to view all payroll information. Therefore I am looking for a function that can give access to all of Xero except anything to do with payroll so all nominal codes to do with wages would need to be invisible etc. Journals would another thing that needs to be hidden.

    This is really useful to know, thanks Josh - Though we don't have immediate plans for change around this, we really appreciate you sharing the detail of how you'd see this permissions working best for you. We'll keep an eye across this one here, and let you know if there are any updates.

  10. The real cost of an employee is not shown on the payslip, even though things like Workcover, public liability, Qleave could be shown as percentages based on no of staff over a year. Eg $20k workcover is / staff/weeks of year/hours work this week or $200000 / 16 staff / 52 weeks and 200 hours worked = 0.12c per hour. Same could be shown for Public liability, and any other costs attributable to each staff member.

    Also showing all forms of leave accrued in $$ values as well as hours gives a clearer picture to the staff member…

  11. More than four bank accounts for employees: It would be helpful if we could have more than four bank accounts for employee wages to be split into. A minimum of 6 would be good as a few employees have asked for money to be split into more than four accounts.

At the moment when one staff member accesses notifications on the main Xero dashboard and actions it i.e tax code changes the notification will not disappear for all users on the Xero subscription. It would be a good idea that this could disappear for all users once actioned to completion to ensure that work is not duplicated by two or three other staff checking that same notification.

  13. Show the Total Payment of a Pay Run, on both the Pay Runs and individual Pay Run screen. As it is, you have to click Payroll > Pay Employees > Pay Run > Employee to see the Total Payment for that specific Pay Run. Far too many clicks to check what the total amount was that was posted to Wages Payable account (and paid from the bank account).

  14. Employers are only required to pay superannuation guarantee up to a quarterly threshold (maximum contribution base). At the moment Xero doesn’t cap the super at this level, and will allow super above the cap to be booked. (In fact, to limit the super at the cap requires a work-around adding 2 lines, one with 0% super and another with the fixed amount up to the cap.). Employers can easily overpay their employees’ super. This functionality needs to be built into Xero.

    Hi everyone, thank you for your feedback and I do want to apologise for any confusion my update's caused. You're correct in that the responsibility outlined in my response is relevant to the concessional contribution cap. Seeing your responses today, we now appreciate that the idea here is specifically around the maximum contribution base.

    I want to assure you this is something our product teams are paying close attention to and though we don't have any immediate plans we can share, we will consider this request as we continue to plan our roadmap - We encourage you to share any further details on your experiences related to managing the maximum contribution base as these will be helpful to the product team as they assess this feature.

  15. If this has already been suggested I would like to add in the payroll items an Employer Expense (not a deduction or reimbursement), similar to the way Superannuation is treated, with an expense and liability account. This would account for the BERT & BEWT that is required in the building industry.

  17. When entering the weekly timesheet for employees (they complete it on a sheet and I enter last week's hours on Xero), you have to go back to Timesheets where it shows this week's timesheet and you have to scroll down to last week.

    Please can Xero create a path at the top where you can click on the timesheet week you are working on? At the moment you can only click on the blue 'Timesheets' which take you back to this week and not last week or the week you working on.

  19. Turn off rounding in payroll deductions and superannuation in Pay Template. Is it possible to turn off rounding for payroll deductions in pay templates, as we have defined benefit member salary sacrifice percentage rates that are more than two decimals and Xero automatically rounds down or up which creates the designated ATO rate lower or higher than specified. Also payroll deduction amounts for Novated Leasing for pre and post tax amounts are rounding down or up to an amount which then we will have to create a journal later to fix the incorrect amount being direct debited from our bank…

  20. I think it would be great to have a submit for approval option in timesheets on the web version just like you can with invoices and bills. I am a third party bookkeeper and therefore Xero Me isn't really an option because, I am not an employee so I can't really use Xero me and if a timesheet is submitted by an employee, it has to be sent to me for approval for editing to ensure it comes through to payroll correctly for processing as an approved timesheet cannot be edited in payroll. Not all staff are tech savvy…
