  1. FILTERS have to be reset each time you return to a page. This is common throughout Xero and is a real nuisance, but especially if you are editing sales invoices. E.g. filtering on a group of customers and a date range has to be done to edit each invoice individually. Resetting the filter for each invoice you edit is a real pain.

  2. Is there any way to have an invoice email that is generated automatically based on the 'Item' (business > products and services) record selected from within the Invoice?

    We send invoices specific to individual contractors each month. These contractors ('Item' within invoice) have unique purchase orders and work order numbers that remain constant each month.

    Currently the email generated is a generic email which does not automatically populate the purchase order / work order number.

    Is there any way Xero can create an email template per 'Item' (business > products and services) record to minimise our risk…

  3. It would useful to be able to have an edit function that allows you to change a bill to an invoice and vice versa. As clients tend to confuse these and it takes a lot of steps to copy the information over and delete the mistake.

  4. In Classic views if there was an Adjustment to Tax it was quite obvious when the Invoice (or Bill) had an adjustment to tax. Compare that to the new Invoice screen where there is nothing showing that this adjustment exists.
    It must be sitting in the database somewhere as its shows in classic invoicing.

    Could this be added back into new invoicing plus could there be a report or filter that could show invoices or bills that have an adjustment to tax?

    Hi everyone, apologies we've not updated you on this idea sooner.

    Where you're using the UK or Global editions of Xero it is possible to manually adjust the tax amount of individual lines of your invoice with new invoicing. This is slightly different to classic where you would adjust the overall tax amount of the invoice.

    If the Tax Amount column isn't shown already, click the show/hide fields button where you'll have the option to check this - While this column is possible to view for all orgs, as with classic invoicing only UK and Global editions will find the option to edit the Tax amount of your invoice lines.

  5. Ability to create receipt, del note and remittance using DocX.

    Purpose: Users can easily customise their receipt, del note, and remittance using DocX.

  6. Can the new invoicing template show address like the classic invoicing template does?
    Classic invoicing - Shows company address and the person it is addressed to (Attention:) when viewing the invoicing from our end
    New Invoice - Only shows the company name and to check if the address is correct and if the person it is addressed to is correct you have to click on Edit or download it as a pdf to verify it.

    Hi team, with our latest updates to new invoicing you're now able to see your contacts address if they have one saved when viewing the invoice. 

    Appreciate the question around being able to edit the address and to confirm - you'll find in view mode you can click on the contact to view the contact card. If you'd like to edit the address click the small link in the top right of the contact card. This'll pop the contact open in a separate browser tab where you can edit and add a billing and/or delivery address. 🙂

  7. Provide functionality in Xero to add attachments to a group invoice.

    Annually when we issue membership
    subscriptions there are a number of attachments that need to be included with the invoice, this is currently a manual process. Adding the sane attachments to over 80 invoices is time consuming and tedious.

    Given Xero has this functionality already, it should be expanded to include the functionality of adding attachments when creating an invoice o a contact group.

    Appreciate your feedback here, everyone. While we've recently released contact group invoicing with new invoicing, the ability to attach and send an attachment has not changed for the time being.

    Contact Group invoicing will only create draft invoices for the contacts within that group, so you'll need to attach any documents to the individual invoices that are created and select to include these with the invoice when sending.

    We'll continue to review this idea as a future enhancement, and I'll let you know if there are any changes planned, here.

  8. When you are in cash coding it would be useful to be able to add an invoice to the line before it is reconciled.
    If clients do not use the bills function then attaching an invoice to a transaction is time consuming and fiddly.

Send / Issue Invoices directly to Whatsapp: Clients of our would love the function to be able to send invoices directly to a Whatsapp account/number from Xero (similar to the "Email" button on invoices). Client contact numbers are already listed on Xero Contacts. Even if this was only added to the Xero mobile app, we think this would be a huge benefit for many businesses.

    Hi all, I'm pleased to let you know it's possible to share via WhatsApp. If you're using the mobile app, on the invoice you'd like to send, use the menu in the top right for more options and select Share... Your mobile will come up with options for sharing and if you have WhatsApp installed you can send it to your WhatsApp contacts.

    If you're using the web version, on the invoice you'd like to send, use the menu in the top right for more options and select Get link. From here you can copy the link and use WhatsApp Web to compose your message and paste the link to the invoice.

  10. Have the ability to create Manual Repeat Journals for older date ranges (3 years ago). The current restrictions on this should be allowed once a Lock Date is implemented.

    Otherwise you get an error like:
    The Next Journal Date entered is prior to the start of your previous financial year.

    This is very fustrating.

When I assign supplier invoices to a project then charge the client those amounts and get paid, at the moment to then go and pay those supplier invoices after being payed by the client I have to note down all the invoice numbers then go into bills to pay and find all the invoices to create a batch payment. it would be helpful to be able to pay the bills attached to the invoice through the project tab or even be able to select an invoice in the bills tab and have it show all the bills…

  12. I frequently create draft invoices to keep track of work to be billed. When I send the invoice (at the completion of a production stage for example), XERO keeps the date of the first draft invoice, which can be weeks or even months old. I have a setting of 7 days as due date. Clients then receive an invoice with a long gone due date, which is extremely confusing, if I forget to update the issue date to today.     Hey Leigh! I want to let you know that we've recently enhanced both our Receivable and Payable Detail reports. Where you can see when the invoice or bill was paid through the 'Last payment date' column.

  16. Simple Find button as used in Quickbooks Desktop. This facility was used on a daily basis by our construction company to find anything that came on an invoice, all you needed was to type in one word and it would seek it out in seconds. I do not understand why Xero are not capable of implementing this. I have been told by Xero that the more people that support an idea the more likely it is that they will do it. Please support this.

    Have you tried Xero's global search, Val? Or is there detail from a particular field you're often trying to find that doesn't appear in results? For example would this relate to searching within the description field of invoices?

  17. Payment information on invoices updates automatically from information held in the payment services section of Xero. Except, using the .DOCX templates, they don't update automatically your business's bank account details.

    Scenario - you accept invoice payments direct to your business bank account. Those details are included in the invoice template. You change your bank account details. You have to update each and every invoice template you have to show the new bank account details. However, if you change your Stripe payment information for example, that information is automatically updated in your templates. Why the different treatment?

  19. For when creating an re-occuring invoice, there is occasions, where invoices must be sent at specific times of the month, for example...

    • Last Day of the month
    • Every 2nd Tuesday
    • Last Thursday of the month

    The reason behind this, is because some companies who you are invoicing operate specific payment cycles, and in order for a small business to get paid within the terms of their invoice ( Late Payment Act 1998 & your own article on [ https://www.xero.com/uk/guides/invoice-payment-terms/ ] - Payments terms are getting shorter )

    Hi Anna, when you say overdue amount would this be when sending an invoice to a customer and only showing the amount left to pay? If so, this is already possible with the email the customer receives and you can adjust the body of the invoice email to include the Amount due placeholder.
