  1. Currently the display name for payroll items doesn't extend to timesheets. So the employee sees the rate name. Really an employee should only see the display name and the rate name should be for/staff/admin/advisors. I would like to enter the default rate in the rate name as there is also no prompt in the employee file if you choose to use earnings rate to see what the rate is. You need to go back to payroll setting to check which is inefficient.

  2. "Days paid" on timesheet defaults to number of days loaded in "Salary & Wages".
It needs to be overridden to actual days worked for the week when a timesheet is approved. Many staff work more or less days than the average and changing each one manually is incredibly cumbersome and has a huge margin for error

  3. Have the ability to set the relevant Award Rates and applicable grade so the pay rates gets automatically updated each year when the award rate changes, rather than having to manually make the changes.

Hi Judy, sorry it's been a long time to loop back on this one but I've just followed up with the team and can confirm that in the UK version of Xero Central searching for 'new starter' will return the Add an employee article in the results. Note that results can differ between individuals due to the search engine personalising results.

  5. 2 TOIL options, TOIL accrued & TOIL Accrued in place of Overtime

We are unable to mark a Time in Lieu Leave pay item as exempt from accruing SGC, which is not how the ATO classifies SGC for TOIL.

We suggest having 2 TOIL categories, so that there is the option for a TOIL where SGC is required to be paid and one wit SGC exempt:- when super is accrued on overtime.

  7. AU - Compulsory Employee Super When a Employee Superfund changes ABN, USI number, merges with another fund.

The only solution at moment is to export the employee data into a file and save it. Then deactivate the Superfund. The problem is if you have a query on these past transactions you cannot do it through Xero. If you a subjected to an audit you cannot generate report for the data prior to the date of the changes made to the super fund. If you have been through an audit this creates a lot of work. Also, if you lose this…

  8. Could we include a notification when a staff member has a birthday? This has multiple benefits including allowing us to check if their award salary or benefits need to change and also be able to congratulate them on their birthday. Surely it wouldn't be a huge change to make but would be a unique and helpful change for many SME as I currently need to create a new Google calendar for staff birthdays, creating additional work especially when we have 50+ staff and low retention in hospitality. Thank you.

Appreciate the interest through the idea, but want to be open that we don't have any development planned for adding reminders or notification of an employees birth date atm.

I see there are some supporters from NZ and UK in the idea here and wanted to point you across to these specific ideas for each region that I'd encourage adding your support for - Each version of Xero Payroll has been developed specifically for the that regions tax and reporting obligations and this would need to be developed for each version separately. Thanks

  9. timesheet - indicate public holidays + add radio buttons selection for:
    1. pay as normal (public holiday)
    2. worked holiday + entitled to 1.5 pay + day time in lieu
    3. worked but not entitled (no extra pay or time in lieu)

  10. Unpaid Intern. I have an Uni student doing an internship. We offered to pay $500 per month as a transport allowance. The unpaid intern is not an employee. When I wanted to set this person up in Payroll, I found limitations: the only available contracts are full time, part time and casual. I tried to set her up as casual, which is wrong, and link the transport allowance. An error pop up asking to calculate Superannuation. I give up.
In this case, MYOB is better, as we have an option to "not report" and we don't pay superannuation for…

  11. Currently, Employee summary gives a a lone total only for the period entered. A report showing one line of detail for every payrun paid, would be very beneficial when processing government claims, or providing information to employees for Centrelink instead of the the cumbersome Activity report, or multiple payslips.

  12. Given that we are now can add employees into different tracking/groups on Xero.
It works well when we post a pay run and it puts all transactions in Wages expenses, super expenses, PAYG W and super payable, but not Wages Payable. Seems odd that it doesn't.

  13. Multi select or more filter options when processing superannuation payments. This would expediate processing super payments for large employers. For example, you should be able to filter the super payment to show only last month super and select all and submit for payment. At the moment, if we want to process the previous month's super, we have to manually unselect each employee super that relates to the next month or quarter that we aren't required to pay yet.

  14. It will be very useful for reporting if we are able to change the layout of Timesheet Details from a week ending to fortnightly while also able to choose the start date and end date without the dates with zero hours.

  15. Make W-9 request available from the contact page. Perhaps where financial details are manually entered. Why have to go over to the 1099 report?

Hi everyone, we've released a new 'Tax Details' section for US customers in Contacts that allows you to request W-9s from a contact you've set up in Xero. From this section you'll also be able to see a contacts W-9 status and manually update this if needed.

We've also added additional fields for 'Name on the income tax return' (previously 'Legal name') and 'Business or disregarded entity name' in Contacts to match the 1099 W-9 Management space.

Thanks for sharing and staying updated with us here through product ideas.😊

  16. New Employee start date is part way through a pay week. The New pay run does not recognise the start day and calculates an entire weeks pay.
This requires manual calculation and double check if the pay run has been recalculated. Open to errors and over payment

  18. How many times have we received a payment from a customer and not known which invoices they have paid? Or followed up an outstanding invoice that they have listed as paid in their system?

It would be great to have a button to request remittance advice from a customer for a particular deposit. We have a list of customers for many of our clients where we manually send these requests via email. It is time-consuming and inefficient, though it would be great to have the automation of sending the request straight out of Xero from the Bank Rec screen!

Appreciate no direct feature for this at present, Grace and we'll begin to get a sense of the interest in this here. In the meantime, perhaps including the request in the invoice Terms and Conditions could be a good indicator that this is something you request of your customers when sending the invoice or reminders?

  19. Can we have timesheets able to be approved by multiple users e.g. site manager then goes to Managing director for final approval.

  20. With the new basis period changes coming into effect, some clients may want to change their year-end from 30.09 to 31.03. Currently changing the year-end in Xero will cause previous opening balances to change and most likely mean any working papers produced in Xero will no longer match the accounts.

It would be a useful tool to have something whereby a previous accounting period end could be locked so a new year-end could be chosen without messing up the old year-end balances.

Hi team, I can now confirm we've now added the ability for you to create a short transition period (between 1 month and 12 months long) when changing the Financial Year End date within your organisations Financial Settings.

Just to recap for anyone new coming across the idea here - Aligning with the UK basis period reforms we've made a change to Financial settings so you can add start and end dates to different periods. This change impacts multiple areas of Xero.

    • Fixed assets will draw on this information, to prevent any loss of historic information when your year end changes. Everything will automatically be calculated for you based on the period start and end dates you set in Financial Settings.
    • The same story will apply in Reporting. All historic reports will be protected. And you’ll have accurate comparison periods even across varied financial years.
    • In Xero Tax, you’ll be…
  • Don't see your idea?
