Expenses - Chart of accounts list
Need to ability to limit the list of accounts for each user and then allow the approver to have access to all chart of accounts to re-assign the expense.
Staff don't understand accounts requirements to be able to choose the correct account.

One Click Delivery Notes
We need to include delivery notes with orders. The current packing slip does not cover this requirement. I'd like to be able to select multiple invoices, and bulk print delivery notes for them all. The delivery note needs to be somewhat customisable.
The notion of having to edit an invoice and change the theme in order to generate a delivery note is completely impractical!

Would be good to get a sense of the interest for a bulk option and creating for multiple invoices at once.

Chart of accounts - Add support for subaccounts
Xero should have the ability (similar to QuickBooks) to have sub accounts in Chart of Accounts.

Contacts - Integrate with details registered on the Companies office
Part 1: Integrate with Companies office NZ (or similar) so that when I enter the name of a new contact it looks for the details of the company published on the companies office / NZBN. This could reduce data entry and validate that the name entered is a real company, accepting it wouldn't cover other entities.
Part 2: When a company status changes (e.g. goes into liquidation) you could show Xero users a warning, could do the same for company name & address changes etc..

User Role - Restrict access to individual bank accounts
To have the ability limit some users to access some bank accounts within Xero org.
Purpose: To limit some staff to not be able to see the information about the client’s bank balance.

Invoice / Bill - Copy to a Credit Note
Hi,
You can only create credit notes to Invoices or Bills if these aren't marked as paid on Xero, or by creating them as new items from contacts or using upload via Hubdoc.
I think it would be beneficial to allow the creation of credit notes from bills or invoices that are already paid. Very often, there is a requirement for a credit note to be created when the bill/invoice is already paid. Adding the feature to allow creating credit notes based on the information already recorded on paid bills/invoices would save a lot of time in dealing with creating…
109 votesHi Wojciech, if an invoice or bill has already been paid there is no amount left outstanding for the invoice. It sounds like you'd like the ability to easily copy the detail of an invoice to a credit note? I've slightly updated the title of your idea here, for this.
If this doesn't quite reflect it'd be great to get more detail of scenarios you'd in which your business receives a credit note for a completely paid invoice or bill.

Reporting - Link Account Transaction Report to Total Lines on Balance Sheet and P&L
Add the ability to open an account transaction report by clicking on the number in a total line of the balance sheet or P&L. The linked account transaction report would contain the account transactions for all accounts that were being totaled.

New Invoicing - Alert if the contact has available credit
In the "classic invoicing" interface an alert is displayed at the bottom of approved invoices when the contact being invoiced has existing credit that can potentially be applied to the new invoice. This is a very important feature and strangely it's missing from the new invoicing interface. With the "classic invoicing" now being officially retired this basic feature must definitely carry over to the new invoicing interface.
Without this alert, every time we create an invoice we would need to manually check if the contact has previous credit with us, which makes the process unnecessarily inefficient and unpleasant.

In relation to the alert of available credit as raised in this idea, we've identified there are a few situations for Invoice only users where the available credit pop up isn't being shown. This is something we have plans to fix, and while I can't give a specific date on the idea here, we want you to know this is important to us and I'll keep you updated on progress here.

Reporting | Page Break - Preview in Xero Reports (without exporting)
Currently, when preparing financial statements or other reports in Xero, you have to export the report to PDF to work out if you will need to insert page breaks to keep all related content on one page, or to ensure that a heading doesn't end up on one page and the information on the next. This can sometimes mean exporting a report multiple times if there are multiple page breaks required.

Bank rules - Run this rule on 'selected' bank accounts, instead of all or just one
It would be great to have the option when creating a bank rule to tick the bank accounts to run the rule on, as opposed to having ALL or just one. We often need to run the rule on say three of the five bank accounts, and are forced to set up three identical bank rules just so we can select each account, as we don't want to run the rule on all five accounts. Invoice template - Ability to add Invoice Balance Forward
When printing an invoice I would like to go to the customer's account and bring forward the balance that is on their account.
And have this balance on a line above the net amount for this invoice, which would then add the gross amount to the brought forward value and have aline below the gross amount of the invoice, showing the total amount that they owe to date including this invoice.27 votes -
Bank Rules - Ability to set defaults for steps of Create rule
When adding a bank rule is it possable to change
No 5 Add rule details to deault to "all accounts" rather than the account you are currently in
A rule set up for fuel will be the same allocation no matter what bank account you are in
Where do you chande the system defaults?3 votesHi Greg, while there's no way to set your own defaults for Bank Rules in Xero.
The existing default will differ depending on where you start the Create rule flow.
- If you're in the process of reconciling your account (via the Reconcile screen or Cash coding) the default for '5. Add rule details > Run this rule on' is the bank account you were reconciling
- On the other-hand if you Create rule from the Bank rules screen, this'll default to 'All bank accounts'
While this isn't something we have plans for at present. Appreciate how you'd like to set up a default regardless of where you start this and have adjust the title of your idea, here and we'll keep an eye on the support for this.

UK Payroll - List contacts in alphabetical order, by Surname
It would help if the list of emplyees were sorted in alphabet order, by Surname. Also, a BACS report that just shows the employee, amount to be paid, and the total at the bottom.

Reporting | Groups - Option to sort in alphabetical order
In the old reports, once the account was added to a subgroup, the account code would automatically be in alphabetical order. However, this is manual for the new reporting.
A good function would be to automate this in the new reports as well (per the old reports) rather than dragging and dropping manually.

Invoice - Apportion payment to specific line items
Apportion payment to specific line items on invoices. This would allow you to choose where to apply the payment, making it possible to have invoices with multiple payments to have the sales taxed/no sale tax payment correctly and just not proportionally.

Organisation Settings - Set default date format to DDMMYYYY for South African orgs
The date format for South Africa is incorrect. We use a day month year format, not the American month day year format. Surely Xero can change this so its adaptable for each country and preference? Its not asking a lot of work to have that additional option. But can cause a huge issue when its not what we work with.

Bank reconcilliation - Allocate account transactions against each other.
Add a function to allocate transactions in an account against each other so you can easily identify which transactions are making up the balance (e.g. in a PAYE you would allocate the payment to HMRC against the payroll journal).
