  1. Now that you have a function to create a Non-employee SubContrator who is paid Superannuation only here are some suggestions as currently it is a very labout intensive and manual process especally since STP2

    • ability to populate the contractors details eg address, email, phone number from their Contact as they have been paid for an invoice via Bills
    • pay items that alows you to enter the invoice value so the super is calculated - at present, new STP does not allow you to trick the system anymore so 10.5% SG has to be manually calculated
    • ALLOW SPACES IN ABN field…

    Thanks for sharing with us in product ideas, Alison. It really helps for each idea to be separate so we can gauge interest in the specific feature community would like to see, and users know exactly what they're voting for.

    Reading through your feedback, you should find you can now copy and paste an ABN that contains spaces. It also appears there is an existing idea for tracking contractors Super contributions that I added your vote for and you'll be kept updated if there's any progress for.

    I've slightly adjusted the title of your idea here to reflect your first point, however you're welcome to start others for the remaining ideas that you'd like to see us develop. 

  2. Increase number of letters/spaces in text field boxes in employee name fields.

    Text fields for employee names are currently limited to 36 letters so my suggestion is to have an unlimited text field or increase to 50 spaces.

    I only discovered this when a new employee's last name has 40 letters so I can't accurately add his full last name. Payslips need to be downloaded and edited via a pdf editor so he has the accurate payslip for his tax and visa records.

  3. This will allow for easy review of an employee's age alongside their current payrate and adjustment post birthday. Currently, I run two reports, Employee Contact Details and Employee Remuneration Report, export to excel and merge to allow cross reference of all information. The remuneration Report would also benefit from having all wage categories to select if needed, ie: Saturday Rate, Sunday Rate, Public Holiday Rate etc. Negating the need to access each employee pay template to check correct rates have been set up.

  4. Make creating leave requests functional when using keyboard entry.

    Currently, when I want to create a leave request, I:
    - go to the top menu, tab across to Payroll and select (4 keystrokes),
    - arrow down to Leave and select (4 keystrokes),
    - tab through to New Request and select (15 keystrokes),
    and then no matter how much I try I cannot get to select either Leave or Cash Out Leave without using the mouse.

    Then, once I have used the mouse to get the new leave request pop-up, I have to:
    - tab to the employee field (3 keystrokes)…

  5. Employee tab - make the layout available for users to choose between Portrait or Landscape orientation.
    Since updates were made on 20.12.2024, the Landscape one (on this particular tab - Employees) did not fit on the screen. It looks like a tech error rather than an update...

  6. In order to track and approve "Working from Home" requests it would be useful if Xero would enable pay item ("Working from Home") to be created that would function in the same manner as a leave category but was not leave (i.e. would not be reported to the Tax Office as a type of leave).
    That way employees could apply to work from home, as they do annual leave, and approved working from home hours would automatically appear on the leave calendar.

  7. Currently the PPL pay item can only be allocated to an expense account.

    This is not in line with the Australian Accounting Standard.

    Can Xero update the ability to allocate to a liability account, please?

  8. An option to do a reversal of a current pay run as currently there is no option to allow this. I had a pay run today and the client had not let me know that there was a change to their pay run until after it had been lodged with the ATO. I subsequently went to the portal and found that both pay runs had been processed as was out to the actual amount in Xero.

  9. A setting in the backend to turn on/off to find and match transactions within a certain amount (i.e.-/+0.05).

    These are usually (if not always a rounding adjustment). It's currently a 4-step process to add a minor adjustment.

    Also, selecting minor adjustment or bank fee, can the difference auto populate in the amount field?!!

  10. Xero should reduce Ordinary hours below nil when leave requests are input for the current/previous weeks if the total leave exceeds normal ordinary hours. Eg FT employee 38hrpw is off all current week on leave in addition to 7.6hrs for a day last week not previously processed. Currently, in this situation Xero will not reduce Ordinary hours below Nil and would pay the employee 45.6hours as leave. A manual adjustment is needed to reduce Ordinary hours to minus 7.6hrs to correctly pay the employee.

  12. Unscheduled pay run - most of my unscheduled pay runs are paid on the day of creation.
    It would be good to be able to change the payment date to the actual date of payment instead of the date selected by the unscheduled pay run.

    E.g. unscheduled pay run for the week ending 13th Aug has a payment date of 16th Aug yet payment may have been made on 18th Sep.

  14. Why can't Xero make editing a timesheet easier by automatically showing bank holidays and any days off that have been entered as holiday?

    If the timesheet showed bank holidays or days where time-off has been allocated in a different colour or with an asterisk by the date then checking timesheets against time-cards would be much more straight forward.

  15. I think it would be really helpful to put a search bar for employees in a pay run. It's really time consuming to scroll down list of employees especially if you have lots of them. It's under employee dropdown. Thanks!

  16. The ability to export the auto enrolment pension report and also to "hide" deep archived employees. I check this report mid month and send a list to HR as a sanity check for those employees not yet enrolled/non eligible but now have to scroll through "all" employees past and present to get the current information. Not very user friendly. Even an export option with some way of then filtering whether the employee is current would be useful.

  17. The ability to change auto enrolment percentages when a new staff member first is assessed and paid. A staff member has negotiated a higher employer percentage and I know we can change it once this has been added to the payslip going forward but at the time they are assessed and going to be included in the first pay run as well as a popup which lets you postpone them it would be good to also get the option to edit their pension percentages at the same time.   18. Could we please have an option to add a second emergency contact for our employees.

    Currently when creating a new employee we only have one space for an emergency contact. However, in the case of an actual emergency only one contact may not be enough, a second contact gives a much higher chance of being able to get in contact with someone.

    Hi everyone, thanks for the idea and support here.

    We appreciate being able to easily add a secondary emergency contact to the details tab of the employee record is important to you. 

    Atm, you could use the notes tab to add a new note to the employee record and include the details in here.

    To be open we don't have direct plans for making this change within the details tab any time in the near future. 

  19. At the moment, inside an individual's payslip/pay run, the button options are 'save', 'save and next' and 'close'.

    A button for 'save and close' would be ideal when only one or a few employees (not the whole batch) need to be manually viewed and edited. Instead, we need to click 'save', wait for the page to load again, scroll down and click 'close' to return to the pay run employee list.

    Thank you for your contribution and support on the idea.  We understand that the ability to easily save and close in one click would benefit your workflows, however to be upfront we don't have direct plans for making this change within the payslip in the foreseeable future.

    We appreciate this is not the news you’d hope to hear, but we'd like to be open and transparent with you on this, here.
