  1. Xero allows invoices to be created in a foreign currency (with the premium subscription plan) but when clients make these payments (which get converted to the base currency) they are not able to be reconciled in the Xero app as both the currency and amount are different so they don’t match.

    On the web, there is an option that can be unchecked to show foreign currency items, which then allows the payment to be reconciled. In my case it is ‘show NZD items only’.

  2. When using the Reconcile Period feature for clients with multiple bank accounts, it is time-consuming to click in and out of each account to check if reconciliation is needed. It can also be difficult to remember which account you left off on, especially when reconciling at different times throughout the month.

    Displaying the ending date of the last reconciled period next to "Reconcile Period" and/or on the dashboard would provide a quick overview of the last reconciliation for each account, improving efficiency.

  4. Many of our Customer and Suppliers now insist we use their portal to submit queries statements remittance advices etc.
    It would be useful for there to be a portal element like the E mail contacts in the Contact record. If this could be visible and actionable from the header it would be nice so we can click it and go straight to their portal from the contact.

  5. Please keep the current feature of adding item codes to billable expenses so that the preset charge out rate and account pulls through. In the new system adding an item code wipes out the billable expense.

  6. Please can we have the functionality to add more than one gocardless account to one organisation? We have a client account where funds are directed to a trust account under one account and then our normal gocardless account and would be great to be able to include both sets of transactions (at the moment we have one linked and the other is updated manually at the end of the month.)

  7. Bank Reconciliation suggestions. The ability for Xero to identify a name within a customer contact and match it to the name on the bank feed and suggest this as a match. for example John Smith is the contact for ABC pty ltd. when he makes payment he only references John Smith. Xero will recognise John smith is a contact for ABC pty ltd and suggest their invoice in the bank rec.

    Hello everyone, appreciate all your feedback here. To be upfront, we don’t have any plans to develop the ability to reconcile clearing, control and non-bank accounts in the near future. 


    Some of the technology improvements going on across Xero will create more opportunities for us to explore extending some of the more complex functionality from one part of Xero to another. However, we are some way off from this yet. 


    That being said, there is the Account transaction report that could be handy in providing a view of both sides of a transaction in Xero. You can include the related account as a column in the report - See more in our help article on this.

    Alternatively, if you’re using an external system, you could look into the Xero App store

    Appreciate the interest shown on the idea here, everyone. Atm, we don't have any plans for adding a specific field for a Contact / Business Registered name. 

    While not a perfect solution as another user has shared, perhaps adding the name to the contact's address field could help surface this detail where required at present. 

    We'll continue to gauge interest in this, and share if there are any updates. 

  12. The current bill import functionality relies primarily on contact names for matching, which creates two significant problems:

    1. Unreliable Contact Matching

    • Contact names can change over time
    • Even minor differences (single character) result in creating new duplicate contacts
    • No fallback to more reliable identifiers

    2. Character Encoding Problems

    • Special characters (e.g., apostrophes in names like "O'Connor") cause import failures
    • This particularly affects common surnames and business names

    Proposed Solution

    Implement a hierarchical matching system for contacts during bill imports:

    1. First attempt: Match by account code
    2. Second attempt: Match by database ID
    3. Final fallback: Match by contact name

  13. Have an area in the contact card to opt out of the remittance advice for that supplier. This will save the time in unticking suppliers that never want remittance advice every time a batch payment is made.

  14. Stop messing around with things that people haven't asked for and actually look at implementing things that have been asked for.
    The new look for customer and sales ledgers is awful. Why change it?
    When it comes to being easy to reconcile supplier ledgers Xero is already miles behind it's competitors but you've somehow managed to make it even worse!

  15. I need to include a Cash Summary report and bank summary report in standard management reports.

    I need the Cash Summary report format - working capital with other cash movements. I never use the default report. It includes balance sheet items as expenses and has little meaning for the clients I have viewed this for.

    At the moment, this can only be done on an individual client level and laboriously. This is not viable for my office.

  17. Currently, if you change the address of a contact, old invoices and bills will show the new address and not the old address.

    It would it be good if the old documents can keep the old address. It is because having the old address is a piece of evidence to show where the goods have been delivered to. It is important to show that to the tax authority and auditors where the goods are delivered to determine the GST/VAT type, etc.

In the "New version of Invoicing" disappeared an amazing function - when you open an invoice after it has been approved, it always displays as tax exclusive, even if you entered it as tax inclusive. In the new version if you approved an invoice tax inclusive it ONLY shows it as tax inclusive. Can you please add the feature of seeing both versions of the same invoice.
    And another feature that disappeared in the new version is to see account number, not just the name of the account. Can you add it back too? And move it back to…

  19. Many are complaining about no VAT option on mileage claims through expenses. I can see why this would be timely to implicate as the fuel element changes and is different depending on fuel type and engine size.

    But think for those that want to, we should at least have a VAT drop down. We could then create a new tax rate for each rate or even employee using expenses.

  20. In order to monitor expenses by venue, tracking categories in Payroll - giving staff the ability to log their time worked by venue - makes total sense. However, when staff take A/L or S/L, there is no ability to use a tracking category, so all these transactions go to the default 'unassigned'. The time involved in searching what makes up this 'unassigned' amount in a payroll of 35+ employees across 9 venues is astonishingly time-consuming, yet vital to the overall expense reports. Would love to have some time and effort put into this issue please Xero.
