New Invoicing - Due Date option for End of this month
When creating an invoice and adding a due date, it would be handy to have the option of end of this month, so you don't need to click into pick another date.
10 votesHi team, while there's not a preset option for end of this month you'll find you can simply type the number e.g '31' into the due date field to populate the date for the current month.
Toward the end of 2024 we also made some improvements to the calendar picker within new invoicing so you can now easily access the calendar without having to click 'pick another date' which may also help some in the idea here.

New invoicing - View payments details within invoice screen
When reviewing a payment for an invoice, you need to click 3 times to review the transaction details..going into 4 screens, as it's on a separate screen (1-invoice 2-payment 3-transaction 4-transaction details). It would be more efficient to have the transaction details screen build into the same screen as the transaction screen. I don't see a need for a 4th screen, especially when you have click to go back to the previous screens when investigating multiple payments.

Invoicing - Payment link takes customer to Organization Name & Address that can differ from the Branding Theme
Recent changes have gutted our ability to operate under two distinct business names (Branding) under the same Xero account. Our Xero organization name and address is now included by default (and without the option to hide it) on Invoice emails and on Payment acceptance links. This was previously not the case.
This completely breaks branding for us, and I'm not quite sure why this change was made. What is the point of having branding at all of we can't control what organization details are provided to the customer? Support suggested I open another Xero account. That's not an option - we operate under a single set of books.
I've included screenshots of the issue. Fortunately Purchase Orders have not (yet) been affected by this issue. Invoice templates seem to be fine - but the payment links within them take the customer to a page that includes off-branding details. And the wrapper around the email template includes default organization details that we don't want.
This is a breaking change for us. Please upvote if you've also been frustrated by this change.

New invoicing - Warning when 'Invoice was unable to be sent'
Recently half of the emails I thought I had sent were 'unable to be sent'. I had no idea until I became worried why my usually reliable clients had not paid me on time. After looking I saw this message on the 'History' trail.
My suggestion is that where an error occurs like this there is a significant error message signal e.g. a box comes up or things are highlighted in red and bold.
Cashflow is the lifeblood of any business and if the system is unable to send an invoice this could have serious ramifications for Xero clients.
I suggest an urgent fix to this issue that created the problem in the first place and better highlighting of invoices 'not sent' due to system issues so this can be rectified ASAP.

Reports - More detailed bank transaction report.
Add a more detailed bank transaction report.
It would be nice to generate a bank report that allows you to see the accounts booked in details. For example, if one transaction has multiple accounts, I can see what accounts where used and what amount. this would make it a lot easier to look over and control if you made some mistakes or did not included bank fees in the transaction.3 votesHi Ester, have you tried he Account transactions report? US Sales tax - 1099s: W9 submissions should create an actual document
So we send a W9 request and a vendor completes it, great. But this doesn't create a digital W9 form, it just modifies the information in the vendor's 1099 contact page. So if an auditor requests a copy of a vendor's W9, we have nothing to give them. And it's possible to override the changes made by the W9 submission, so there's no way to verify - say a year later - that the information on their contact page aligns with the W9 information they submitted. The lack of static documentation makes this feature almost useless for us as most of our clients are nonprofit orgs and require documentation for audit purposes.

While we don’t create an exact replica of the form we’ve worked closely with our compliance team to make sure that if you are audited we can supply the information needed. We also cater for the event of W-9 information being overridden and needing W-9’s from previous years.
In terms of getting the information for an audit - while we don’t offer a self service option at the moment - if you need it you can submit a request to our support team and we’ll provide what you need for an audit 😊

NZ Payroll - Report for current leave plus leave available to take in advance
A report that shows current annual leave hours, plus leave available to take in advance hours for each employee. It's very time consuming to have to calculate leave if you want to give an employee leave in advance. Using the "show leave available to take in advance" option in the employee set up tends to give the wrong balances on the employee payslip which leads to confusion.

Contacts - Option to put a Stop/Credit Hold on customer accounts
I Also, when will we get the stop function in Xero? I've been asking Xero for 6 years. I know you can restrict invoices by credit limit but, customers could be well under their limit but overdue in paying. A stop function is critical to any accounting system.

Sales invoice - Option to add a new line between existing lines
Hi Community, we need to have the option to add a new line between the invoice instead to go to the bottom part of the invoice to create it, and then moving it where we need it, many times I need to add a line in a large invoice but to make it, I need to go down to the bottom part, add a blank new line and move it where I need. If we can just make right-click and add a new blank line where we need it, it will be easy to create or amend an invoice.

Supplier Bill Activity report - Run in Foreign Currency with totals
The Supplier Bill Activity report is great for showing transactions for a Supplier if you operate only with one currency.
However, for accounts with Multicurrency, it should also include optional columns for the Source Currency amounts and when showing just one currency, the balances in that currency in the list of columns.24 votes -
Sales - Ability to request remittance from customers
How many times have we received a payment from a customer and not known which invoices they have paid? Or followed up an outstanding invoice that they have listed as paid in their system?
It would be great to have a button to request remittance advice from a customer for a particular deposit. We have a list of customers for many of our clients where we manually send these requests via email. It is time-consuming and inefficient, though it would be great to have the automation of sending the request straight out of Xero from the Bank Rec screen!
6 votesAppreciate no direct feature for this at present, Grace and we'll begin to get a sense of the interest in this here. In the meantime, perhaps including the request in the invoice Terms and Conditions could be a good indicator that this is something you request of your customers when sending the invoice or reminders?

Reports - Export all excel reports in .xlsx format
Please create all excel exports from Xero in the currrent .xlsx format. Most still produce an old xls.file format (for instance Sales Tax Report) and need to be resaved to bring up to date.

Email to Bills - Simplify email address
It would be great to be able change the e-mail address where files or bills are sent to Xero to simplify it?
Currently the e-mail address is long and without context and cannot be linked to a specific client outside of Xero in for example Outlook or Gmail.
An "alias" e-mail address would be helpful.

GoCardless integration - Warning if invoice exceeds GoCardless transaction limit
Currently if an invoice is sent to GoCardless for DD collection, and it exceeds the transaction value set by GoGardless, the DD isn't collected, but no error message is sent by either Xero or GoCardless.
Need to improve visibility of errors in Xero, so alternative collection arrangements can be made.

Xero Projects - Select the date when closing the Project
Our financials include a report on the profitability of projects closed during the month. Because the system writes the date of closure from the actual live date that the user marks the project as closed, the user needs to make sure that each project is marked as closed immediately on the date of completion. E.g. If a project is completed in the last week of the month the user must ensure that the closure field is ticked during that week and not wait until the following week.
Can you allow the user to enter or amend the closure date ?

Automated client statements - have the option to send out our practice statements on a regular basis i.e. weekly or fortnightly regardless of the days due or overdue!

Being able to automate the send of customer statements is high on our product teams radar, however we want to be transparent that this isn't planned in the short term. As we continue to develop and uplift throughout the Sales experience this is definitely an area the team will draw closer attention to, however with lots of different projects on the go we aren't able to bring focus to this right now.
I want to assure you we'll keep reviewing this idea, and will share as soon as there's any related progress.

Inventory - View Inventory Item details report from 'View all transactions' section of an item
The "View all transactions" link from a specific product/service should display the Inventory items details report just for that specific product/service. Currently it shows all products and just for the current month. So really isn't doing what is implied in the link.

Xero Support - Ability to download support conversations
Xero support is first class. It would be useful to have the ability to download support conversations.

Out of interest is there anything in particular you'd like to be able to download your support conversations for? e.g would you be wanting to share these somewhere else or file them somewhere to have on hand? This'd be great to share back with our team.
For the time being, as you might've found (though a little manual) - you can copy & paste the detail of a support case internal an external document such as Google Docs or MS Word.

In the old version, the dropdown displays the full hospital name along with the contact email address. However, the new version only shows a truncated name (around 26-30 characters) without the email address. It would be better to retain the old version feature for this especially when there are multiple contacts but different departments, as it was easier to find out whether correct department was chosen and not to make additional right click just to be sure we are choosing the correct customer.
