VAT Reconciliation - Ability to view tracking category
Adding tracking categories to VAT return/reports:
I would like to run a VAT return/report per quarter to be shown by tracking category rather than as a whole. There is not an option on the current VAT report to add the tracking categories, therefore I think this would add benefits to any client that uses tracking categories for departments.

To be upfront we don't have current plans around this with much of our reporting teams focus on change in the new reporting framework in lead up to removing older reports in July this year - More on this here
I've slightly amended the title of your idea and we'll feel out the interest for this here and update if any change is planned.
For now if not already, I'd highly encourage sharing link to the idea here with your clients and colleagues that'd like to see this to support, too.

New Invoice - be able to select Overhead/Expense Account from Chart of Accounts
In the Classic Invoice you can select an overhead or expense as the account to raise an invoice against. This is useful where you are incurring costs that will be charged out at a later date. In the new Invoice version you cannot do that.
1 voteSorry Natalie, not sure what's going on for you there as you should be able to select from any of your accounts in new invoicing. I've just tried testing this in the demo company and see all accounts available for selection. If you're still having trouble with this please do raise a case with our specialists through Xero Central and they can take a deeper look into this 1-on-1 with you.

Profit & Loss - Default date of Custom category column to follow report date
In response to the "Custom Report - Update-able date column" idea (now closed), you recently added the option to 'Follow report date range' so your custom date columns will automatically update based on the date you run the report for.
Why (on earth!) is this not the default behaviour? This is what I thought should be happening and have spent ages, included a support session, trying to sort out the implication of it not working as expected. The column date should normally reflect the report date, surely.2 votes -
Customer Statement - View running balance

Can I please request that on all customer statements there is a running balance on the side, so that it's easy to add up?
34 votesHI team, appreciate not directly within the Customer statement at present and being open we don't have immediate change planned for adding this to the customer statement. However, for the time being you could look to run the Customer Invoice Activity report which has a few more options for the columns and detail shown.
Once you've set up as you like you could save as Custom to make this readily available in your org and export to share externally with a customer/client.

Short term cashflow - Ability to edit repeated transactions
Hi
I would like a feature in the short term cash flow where when a repeated manual entry transaction is made that you can edit only one instance like a repeated meeting in outlook.
An example is that i have made a regular Money In transaction yet i cannot remove a single instance when the actual invoice is created and i am overstating incoming revenue.

Contacts - Flags to indicate if Notes and Files are attached
On normal "blue" Xero, for each contact there is a Files and Notes Tab - it would be great if on the top banner there is a an icon to flag when there is content in that tab.
Also, on the Activity Tab, there could a column to indicate when an invoice or bill has an File attached, as it appears when viewing all invoices or all bills (not under each specific contact).

New invoicing - Ability to archive
Archive invoices that are not paid on time, to avoid depleting stock levels and to still keep a record of what was sent.

Customer Statement - Show links to credit notes
Please can the hyperlinks to Credit Notes appear on the statements of customer accounts? We have so many queries to send credit notes after statements are sent out because there is no hyperlink to it on the statement, time consuming and unnecessary.

AU Payroll - Leave report with running balance
Be able to produce a payroll report for leave balances with a running balance. I want to be able to see all leave accrued, leave taken and the running balance in one report.

Bank Rules - Ability to import and export
Allow users the ability to import and export bank rules.
This would save time having to manually create similar bank rules in Xero, and ease with new client organisation setup

We want to be upfront that at this time focuses for the team are in other areas of bank reconciliation and we don't have any current plans for developing the ability to import and export bank rules from an organisation.
We understand and know this is important to everyone that has voted for the idea and will continue to review and pay close attention to the feedback and votes here. When there is more opportunity for the team to refocus efforts here we will keep you informed of any progress.

Credit Card charge report
Allow Xero user to add additional columns to "Transaction report" so that a report can be sent to each credit card holder in the business confriming where the items on their statement were coded in Xero. This report would accompany their credit card statement each month.
It proactively ensures coding and subsequent department, management and board reporting is correct. This saves time, effort and unnecessary republishing of reports.
(This request came about after assistance from Xero Support)
Colums needed are: Related Account and $ value in that account1 voteAaah wait I see you've noted the columns you're after at the end of your idea(sorry for missing this).
Related account is already an option, if not showing already you'll just want to choose the columns menu to select this.
For the $ value in that account the Running balance should help here, and you'll see an opening balance at the top and closing balance at the end of the account section.

Our charity places values first and in searching for a new current account for our organisation, ones with high ethical standards that synchronise with Xero is a very restricted field. CAF, Unity Trust, Triodos for example do not have bank feeds and they say this capacity sits with Xero. We currently bank with The Cooperative that scores well, and we have had to leave Barclays who have been exposed as very poor. To reduce risk we must have another account so my idea is that Xero takes the lead on establishing connections with more ethical banks enabling better choice for stakeholders and encouraging better banking practices.

Sales - Add customer purchase order and issue invoice from it
Sales - how to add customer purchase order received in Xero and issue invoice from that purchase order. This way it will be easier to track PO received from customer vis a vis the invoices issued.

Inventory - Add a Location and use on Packing Slips
Inventory - We are considering switching to Xero from Sage50, but have come across the issue of not being able to add an inventory item's "Bin Location" to the packing slip. We could include the bin location in the description of the item, but we don't want this to appear on the customer invoice. We only want the item's location to appear on the Packing Slip for the warehouse operatives to locate the items easily.

Avalara - Canadian Xero Accounts
US Xero Clients have Avalara built into Xero as the Auto Sales Tax feature. With legislation changing significantly around Sales Tax in the US, Canadian Companies who sell into the US would really benefit from having the same feature available to them.

US Sales Tax - Auto Tax LCA alert
if the address pulls up in a LCA that is not currently added, to have the ability to register that LCA to allow the correct tax rates? That would make it easier to know that the LCA is new and needs to be registered.

New Invoicing - Change pop up location for message "default contacts have been applied"
Please change the location of the pop up message "default contacts have been applied". When creating a new invoice, the pop up message appears in the bottom left, but I'm trying to look at my contact info and enter data. The pop up box lingers too long and covers the information I need to enter, interfering with the data entry! This is frustrating every time when creating multiple invoices and I have to "x" the pop up message away each time, which then causes extra steps and takes longer. Data entry is all about efficiency and less steps/clicks..you have created more work with this feature. I'd suggest placing the pop-up message on the top bar above the contact field, as other messages. We can read it, but it doesn't interfere with invoicing fields.

Bills - Option to auto apply credit notes and overpayments
Honestly, This is very frustrating that we need to manually allocate the bill credits against the outstanding Invoices, it's taking a lot of time to do so, I highly request Xero to please come up with a solution for this
