US Sales Tax - Auto Tax LCA alert
if the address pulls up in a LCA that is not currently added, to have the ability to register that LCA to allow the correct tax rates? That would make it easier to know that the LCA is new and needs to be registered.

New Invoicing - Change pop up location for message "default contacts have been applied"
Please change the location of the pop up message "default contacts have been applied". When creating a new invoice, the pop up message appears in the bottom left, but I'm trying to look at my contact info and enter data. The pop up box lingers too long and covers the information I need to enter, interfering with the data entry! This is frustrating every time when creating multiple invoices and I have to "x" the pop up message away each time, which then causes extra steps and takes longer. Data entry is all about efficiency and less steps/clicks..you have created more work with this feature. I'd suggest placing the pop-up message on the top bar above the contact field, as other messages. We can read it, but it doesn't interfere with invoicing fields.

Bills - Option to auto apply credit notes and overpayments
Honestly, This is very frustrating that we need to manually allocate the bill credits against the outstanding Invoices, it's taking a lot of time to do so, I highly request Xero to please come up with a solution for this

Bank Reconciliation - Linked hierarchy bank accounts
Can we please have a Parent and Child relationship on the accounts to ease cash allocations. At the moment we are getting 1 payment that covers multiple accounts.
We work with Schools and get payments from Councils and Academy's. These payments go across multiple schools and payments are currently allocated 1 invoice at a time.
It would be helpful to have a Parent account / Hierarchy account or to put the Council/Academy name within the individual school account on Xero and put the Parent/Hierarcy name within the "Find & select matching transactions" - "Search by name or reference"

Inventory - More decimal places for Quantity
It would be useful to add possibility of using long figures of quantity when entering inventory transactions. For now only 4 decimals are allowed. On practice it would be great if up to 10 would be possible.

Repeating Invoices - Copy option
Repeating Invoices - ability to copy existing repeating invoice.
Reasons:
- Temporary Discount rewards (Scenario 1 below)
- Previously agreed future price changes
- Similar fee package for another client on a recurring basisScenario 1
- Client signs an ongoing recurring contract Monthly Fee = $1,000 (for illustration purposes):
- Client sends us a referral, so we discount their fee 10% for the next 4 months (update current recurring amount to $900)
- After 4 months client's fee will return to the previously agreed amount (create brand new recurring invoice, keying all the same information in, but removing the discount - post-date for 4 months from now for $1,000)This process would be a lot easier if we could Duplicate the first invoice.
Same is true if we are adjusting service levels at various future dates, but the bulk of the detail will be the same.
Same is true if a different client is getting the exact same services, it would be easier to just copy an existing one.

Xero Me - Show hours in a leave request for part time employees
Xero Me App Leave Requests to show the total hours being requested by the employee. When Part Time Employees post leave requests there is no way for xero to know that they are only taking part time hours or days

Expenses - Simplify assigning expenses to customers or Projects
It shouldn't be so difficult to assign expenses to customers or projects, an expense or spend money item shouldn't need to be edited to add it to a customer or project.
Simplifying this process could be as simple as an extra column that can be enabled on the Account Transactions view and if a transaction isn't assigned to a project or expense then it can be simply clicked in the column and the customer or project selected.
Additionally Bank Rules should be able to include the option to assigned to customers or projects, if we have a client that charges parking at a specific merchant which we can pass the cost back to then the rule should allow this kind of assignment.
We use Airwallex for our employee expense management and we require most of these transactions be assigned to a project, this means we have over 200 transactions a month we have to manually edit to add the project or customer, it's a significant time burden and completely unnecessary. It shouldn't be so difficult to assign expenses to customers or projects, an expense or spend money item shouldn't need to be edited to add it to a customer or project.

Budget - Enter budget as a yearly option
Quickbooks allows this: and 501c6 and 501c3 find this EXTREMELY useful. We don't budget by the month per se; we budget yearly.

AU Payroll - Allocate annual leave, sick leave and superannuation to a Project/Job
Currently Xero does not assign annual leave and public holiday to a project/job as timesheet doesn't have this function.
Superannuation generates from payroll (pay run) , however, there is no place to allocate superannuation to different projects/jobs as well.3 votes -
Invoices - Enable deduction of withholding tax
A type of tax code should be possible in which the tax is subtracted from, rather than added to, the invoiced amount for that line item.
Rationale: Many countries require that a foreign supplier's invoice be subject to withheld tax if the supplier doesn't have a satisfactory tax treaty entitlement.
Example:
We use a reverse-invoice process for our Australian supplier to record payments due to them based on our activity. This activity often attracts a royalty fee that we must pay.
The UK requires us to withhold 5% of this royalty fee, and pay this over HMRC quarterly.
To create the correct Bill, I enter a line on the "Bill" line showing the total royalty due, and then another line for the tax = a number calculated by typing an arithmetic formula such as
-200*.05
This line is now a negative number allocated to a withholding tax account. The negative number reduces the total on Bill.
This is clumsy manual process prone to errors. I would like to be able to automate the calculation and the allocation of withheld tax to a specified account and the subtraction of this tax -- similar to the way VAT is automatically calculated, allocated to the VAT account, and added to total.
I am aware that many countries have similar tax requirements. It would be good to enable a way for businesses to create withholding tax codes for their particular situation.

AU Payroll - Code leave to account other than Salary and Wages
It would be great if we could code annual leave to another account code other than salary and wages. Currently we manually journal these costs to another account in the ledger to separate them. This helps with reporting wages like for like.

Chart of Accounts - Ability to assign Foreign Currency to an account
I would like to be able to have a foreign currency account in the COA other than bank accounts. If an invoice is received and paid in a foreign currency, it should show as the foreign currency as the source, not the base currency. This affects loan accounts a lot and if invoices are paid from a loan account, instead of a bank account, you can't keep the currency consistent.

User Permissions - Access to reconcile without viewing balances
It would be really useful if you could give a user permission to be able to reconcile and post bank transactions, but not see the bank balance.
309 votesWe thank you all for sharing in the idea here, and understand there are many permissions that our Xero customers would like to provide on a more incremental basis. As you'll all know access to bank accounts is available to users with Adviser, Standard or limited access to those with Read Only roles - You can see more of the breakdown in our article here
With much of the teams resource drawn to work on the platform that'll continue to help us with the 'building on beautiful' experience for our customers we want to be upfront that there are no direct plans for altering the user permissions in this space just yet.
User roles and individual permissions within a bank account will be in the limelight once much of the platform upgrades are complete, but this is some way off atm. We'll return to share when there's any steps made to begin digging into bank account permissions.

Xero - Get approval from the Danish Business Authority
The Danish Business Authority requires Accounting Systems to be approved by them in order for you to use their system in the country. XERO currently have no plans to get approved by them, I think they should get approval from DBA, and other countries, to enable subsidiaries of Global companies to use the same software as their parent companies.

NZ GST - Include History/Notes data on GST return page
It would be really useful to be able to track who made changes to the GST return, including who has reversed a return after it has been filed. If available it would allow a discussion to be had with the relevant person as to why the changes were made - which would save time. A recent example of this is when a GST return was filed and payment of the amount due was made. At a later date the return was then reversed and it is unclear who did this and why. This has resulted in time being spent chasing numerous people to understand the reason.

Contacts - Show the value of an allocated credit note and the bill/invoice it's allocated to
On the contacts page you can see the bills and the value, it will either appear with the value in the paid column or the due column unless it has been allocated against a credit. Any allocated credit notes and the invoices they have been allocated to appear as £0.00 in the paid and due column. Now as we have to allocate the credits in order to include them in a bulk payment (a completely pointless time consuming exercise still not addressed by XERO! but lets not get side tracked by another basic function missing) the fact the values are reduced to £0.00 makes it hard work when trying to check a statement etc. I know there are reports etc that can be run to show the transactions that are reported to a contact but I just want to be able to look at the contacts page. There either needs to be a 3rd column that shows the transaction value then have it either in the due or paid column or any allocated credit note and the relating bill / invoice needs to have the amount shown in the paid column and not £0.00
I wondered if it was a glitch with the new contacts page but apparently not - this has been done deliberately for some unknown reason. On the contacts page you can see the bills and the value, it will either appear with the value in the paid column or the due column unless it has been allocated against a credit. New Invoicing - Invoice Reference Field; Allow Formatting
Please change the Type of the Invoice Reference field on New Invoicing to Allow for extended text formatting capabilities. Make it the same data type as the Summary Field on Quotes or the Description Field on Invoice Line items. So that the invoice reference field allows and saves Carriage Returns and Tab characters.
