Dashboard - New updated "look" and Shortcuts to main features
I would love to see a newer updated "look" similar to what Freshbooks or Quickbooks Online has. They have a very streamlined look. I like how they have the tabs on the side that say "invoice" and "expenses" without having to go through the dropdown menus.
3 votesHi team, while not a solve for an updated 'look' of the dashboard we wanted to make sure everyone on this idea was aware of some of the shortcuts that can help you get around and create transactions from many screens.
The '+' icon next to Search in the blue banner enables you to create a range of different document types, similarly there are shortcuts that can be entered in Search from the blue navigation bar that will take you to different features such as bank accounts, the files library or reports. See more on these in our help article here.

Bank Transfer - Attach file/Split Transfer/Add Tracking/Amend
Bank Transfers - they are great and easy - but it would be awesome if we could just improve them in the following ways - some of these suggestions incorporates other suggestions - but thinking if you are working on improving this functionality - it would be great to do it all at once. Currently when you create a transfer from the Bank feed - you can only select a bank account and enter a reference - it would be great if you could also, add tracking code(s) on that screen too (as currently if you need to attach tracking codes to a bank transfer, you have to create the transfer manually which is so time consuming) and that there was an add details functionality - which enabled you to attach document (similar to the create option) and to split the transfer over multiple bank accounts (eg when a Transfer is happening to pay multiple credit cards). It would then be great after the transfer transaction has been created, if you could also amend the transfer transaction rather than have to delete it and recreate it. Thanks

CIS deduction after retention - subcontractor invoices
When creating subcontractor bills and deducting retention, the CIS includes the retention when calculating the deduction
For example, XERO should read:
£250.00
minus 3% retention (£7.50)
£242.50
minus CIS (£48.50)
= £194.00HOWEVER, XERO calculates:
£250.00
minus 3% retention (£7.50)
minus CIS (£50.00) (off the gross amount not the amount after retention deducted)
= £200.00This means that CIS deduction is incorrect.
There is no way around this currently even though similar issues have been raised since 2019 on Xero discussion threads and no solution has been made.
The only way around it offered by Xero means that payment & deduction statements are not as per HMRC guidelines and would not show retention deducted from a subcontractor meaning that contractors could be fined! When creating subcontractor bills and deducting retention, the CIS includes the retention when calculating the deduction

VAT excel export - Date column should default to date format
Dates should default to date format when exporting the VAT return to excel.
Currently when exporting the VAT return to excel that dates automatically default to either text or general format. This means you can't filter the dates by oldest to newest as the filter selection defaults to A-Z.
Changing the date to date format via format cells does not fix the issue. The only way I have found is to manually update the dates using the =DATEVALUE(x) formula and paste these new values over the old ones. This can be very tedious when working with a lot of late claims etc.

AU Payroll - Exclude team pay rates from timesheets
When you invite an employee to xero me for the purpose of submitting their timesheet, there is a drop down menu for the payrate. In this drop down, it shows 'Self' payrate (the payrate of the person submitting the time sheet) and also 'Team' payrate, a list of all the different payrates of the company. Why would you want an employee to be able to see the different payrates of the team?
This seems like a flaw in the system to me and an employee should only be able to see the payrate that applies to them.

Bank Feed - Connect SumUp as a bank account
It would be great to be able to connect a normal SumUp account like you can Stripe or PayPal not just SumUp POS.

Contacts - Add Sales Tax Exemption field to import/export file
Please include the Sales Tax Exemption field as a column in the Contact csv template/import.
The new auto tax feature appears to utilize this field, and having to go to each contact through Xero, one at a time, to edit and update this field is very time consuming. Too many clicks to update a field for every customer contact a client has.
Tax affects all customers. It would be beneficial when rolling out new features such as this to consider what needs to be done to make such a feature truly work and be efficient. The ability to do mass changes via csv is crucial to large integration updates such as this.

Reporting - Options for Font colour & type
Ability to change Fonts in reports. Each firm is unique, and have ways to express themselves. We have always used a particular font for all our correspondance.
The XERO reports look the same for every firm. Adding the options for fonts, size, colour will allow firms to be slightly different.22 votes -
Reporting - Allow Memo Accounts for non-financial information
We would like to be able to capture non-financial (eg head count) and statistical numbers (eg Order Book) in Xero and add it into Xero reports alongside the existing financial information for management reporting
Currently it seems that accounts that are added automatically appear in the Chart Of Accounts.
Could another Account Type be created that allows memo accounts to be created outside the CoA?4 votes -
AU Payroll - Option to add ETP Type D
We have had the unfortunate event of an employee pass away whilst still employed.
I would like to suggest that Xero make it easier for companies to be able to process a death benefit payment (ETP - type D) within the system rather than having to process this manually and then having to do journal entries for the system to balance correctly. And to then have to process paper copies of PAYG payment summaries to report this to the ATO.

AU Payroll - Show leave balance on payslip without accruals
Australian Payroll - sick leave on payslip - want to show balance without accrual in the payrun, and to be able to do this after employment has commenced. Currently this is only possible if you allocate the full balance to employee's at the start of the employment. Historically this has not been done and it needs to be changed to avoid staff confusion and having to reset the leave each payrun.
4 votesHi team, being open we don't have any plans around this atm. Currently to do this you would set the leave type calculation to 'No calculation required'. This will allow you to set the balance and have any accrual column showing.

Tracking categories by month
I think it would be useful to update the 'Tracking Summary report' and make it possible to open it by month
2 votesHi Melanie, would be good to slightly understand your idea here better - when you say you'd like to update the Tracking Summary report by month, would this be to add comparative columns or just run the report for a month date range?
The Blank report might also be useful here where you can add Tracking columns with the Layout editor and set up the report in the style you're after. Once all set up you could then save the report as Custom to easily access this when you like.

Multiple Report Styles
Multiple Report Styles
It would be great to have multiple report styles for reporting where different logos and different names can be added for reporting. For example we have 2 companies using the same Xero HQ where one company does the accounting work and the other company compiles the reports so we need to publish reports with 2 different report styles and logos.

Sales - Complete POS solution
Hi i can't believe you don't have a POS app tablets for use in cafes and shops. a quick google api for databasing while offline and it would be solid as. you only need to support a handful of thermal printers and cash draws. just look what vend is doing. it would be a huge product if deployed correctly
3 votesHi Douglas, while we don't have a POS app ourselves you'll find Xero integrates with many different POS solutions, including Vend. You can explore the range of these on our App store.
We don't have any immediate plans for expanding into this area atm, but we'll keep tracking the interest of this here and share if there's any plans made. Thanks

Xero Accounting app - Support US Auto Sales Tax
Including the AUTO lookup feature for sales tax in the Mobile App would make the product usability much better in states such as Colorado. To create invoices at "pop-up" events in various tax jurisdictions is crucial so you don't have to remember to continuously load new rates for complex destination /home-room rule situations. The "usability" of the app would be increased rather than being tethered to a computer to manage.

AU Payroll - Hide employee personal details for payrun
In the age of outsourcing, it is impossible to outsource pay run function to an external service provider (especially if they are based overseas) since they can view employee's personal info such as their Tax File Number, Date of Birth, Bank account Details etc.
Once the subscriber or authorized accountant/bookkeeper has created an employee card, they should be able to restrict the access of outsourced partner to just doing the pay run. The outsourced partner should be able to just view the employee name to do the pay run. This feature should restrict their ability to change bank account details or hourly rates, they shouldn't be able to view their TFN, date of birth, contact details etc. Having this feature on Xero will improve functionality and make Xero the only software provider in the market with this feature. Currently, no software provider has this feature.

AU Payroll - Automatically calculate pro-rata salary based on employee's starting date
