Reporting - Enable all accounts to be selected when creating formulas
Make all ledger accounts across the P&L and the Balance Sheet available when incorporating formulas into financial statements. Some KPI's draw from accounts comparing a P&L account with a Balance Sheet account. At present, only accounts in the Balance Sheet can be used to do KPI's within. This is not optimal.

AU Payroll - Option to delete additional super funds from the employee record
I'd like the ability to delete a super fund from an Employee's Employment tab where they originally had two super funds operating in parallel, and then closed one of their accounts. Currently the obsolete super fund can not be deleted, and can only be updated, which means you end up with two of the same super funds in the employment tab.

Contacts - Birthday notification
Hi guys,
It would be great if we could get reminders for customers and suppliers birthdays, this is great for customer relations. Also a reminder for certain documents that might expire at a certain time.

Fixed Assets - Remove Capital Gain from Disposal of an asset
Right now it's not possible to remove the Capital Gain line from the disposal journal when the sales price is more than the original purchase price.
This means, that if you have a motor vehicle that you sold for higher than it's purchase price, the Fixed Asset register will not let you dispose of this asset without recording a capital gain - even though motor vehicles have no capital gains tax on them.
This issue needs to be fixed.

Invoice - Option to customise view of email
The ‘fresh new look’ you have decided to give invoice emails is garish and on the verge of being offensive/pushy - WE ARE NOT A FAN! - and we have been told that this cannot be adjusted!!!!!!!!!!! - REALLY!!!!!!???? - not impressed!!!!! - give the option to amend this or put it back to as it was, please!!!
4 votesSorry to hear the changes are not to your liking, Oliver. While we won't be changing back I can definitely share any specifics that you'd like to see changed. Can you give me any more detail on what it is about the new look that you don't like?

Projects - Option to default bills & expenses to non-chargeable
Within Xero Projects, we would like the functionality to be able to amend the project setting so that we can set the default to non-chargeable for bills and expenses rather then the current automatic % markup.
The current approach means that the project reporting shows bills outstanding when they aren't particularly relevant when you have contractors delivering the work for an agreed price. at the moment we have to go into each category and amend each line item

XPM and Projects Integration
Some integrations require firms to have XPM for their practice manager software. Xero blue synchs with XPM but Xero Projects does not - which presents a real issue when trying to use XPM integrations like FYI

Find and recode - Save or favourite a search
We have to use find and recode each month for adjusting certain batches of transactions. These are the same combination of searches used monthly to find and recode.
It would be useful to be able to name and save or favourite search criteria for quick recall each month. (Looking back at previous searches is ok, but not obvious which is which until you click into them).

UK Payroll - P32 report by month
UK Payroll - need a P32 report that can be printed/downloaded month by month in addition to the details provided for the whole year. Other payroll software's provide this as it's handy to have.

GST Reconciliation report - Common date formats
GST Rec - 2 Simple ideas.
In the GST Rec report you could add drop down dates (as you have in the other reports) so you can easily pick the prior financial year as an option rather than having to pick the dates.
A GST report that showed the late claims that relate to the prior financial year.

Invoices/receipts - 'Next' option when viewing attachments
When you've uploaded multiple receipts/invoices to a transaction it would be useful to have a "next" button to go through all the uploads rather than having to X out and click individually into each attachment. For example expenses. This will save time reviewing

NZ Payroll - Alternate Holiday accrual
Change the Alternate Holiday accrual to days not hours. Legally when someone works on a statutory holiday they get to accrue 1 days alternate holiday, which is the hours that they would normally work when they take the day off, not the hours they worked on the stat day. It's misleading putting in hours instead of days, especially if every day if not an 8 hour day. Reports need to be run every time an Alternate Holiday is taken to ensure they still have that day available.
2 votesHi Mandy, this is something our team are working on at present.
Currently, any new businesses that have started using Xero Payroll from 5 August 2024 will have the ability to set up employee leave entitlements to show alternate holiday leave in days. While we're still working on changes to enable this for existing organisations we'll keep you updated of when this is made available here.

Lock Date - Allow for data to be entered before lock dates, but without affecting existing balances
I’m moving from an existing system to Xero, so need to enter my new data into Xero for the current financial year which the accountant then files with HMRC. But at the same time I need to import my older data without affecting the current filings. All the accountant can do is to lock the accounts from a date backwards, which means I cannot enter my old data.
All I want is to be able to lock financial years, enter the old data and then use Xero to identify if the accountant needs to make any future adjustments.3 votes -
UK Payroll - Option to add dates and reminders into the Overview Calendar
Could the user have access to the calendar in payroll to allow them to manually input other dates that are important but not automatically fed into the calendar and also set up reminder alerts?
Sage allowed you to this which was really useful if you had to remove/add a benefit on a certain date.

Projects | Timer start and finish time
Project Timer - it would be great when using the timer for it to automatically enter actual start time and end time into the time entry, rather than just a duration.

Invoice - Option for customers to add a tip
Allow customer to add a tip to invoice when paying.
12 votesThanks for the engagement with this idea, everyone. This isn't possible atm however just to provide some options of being able to add a gratuity or tip to an existing invoice.
You could have a inventory item set up for this. When a customer provides you a tip you would then edit the invoice and add this item, entering quantity as 1 and tip amount as the unit price. This way you could have the account and tax rate auto entered.
Appreciate this may not suit all circumstance, but hopefully helps some here.
We don't have any current plans for this but will update you if there's any news.

Contacts Merge - Options to open contact record in a separate browser tab when searching
When merging contacts, you start typing the name of a contact you'd like the currently open contact merged into, and a list of similarly named contacts appears (including the contact you're getting rid of by merging it). I'd like to be able to open each of these in another tab from this list, so I can look and see which one I actually want.
3 votesSimilarly to the CTRL-click, from the list view you can use the mouse by using the left click + scroll button together to open a contact in a separate tab.
That said, appreciate if you're in a contacts record, this does mean opening another tab to search from the main contacts list.
To be honest, we don't have any immediate plans for developing the merge within a contact. It's something we'll continue to track here though, and I'll update if there's any progress to share.

Inventory - Add a Quantity on Order column to the Inventory Item Summary report
Would it be possible to be able to select Quantity on Order as a column option in the Inventory Item Summary report.
Such feature would greatly enhance the product overview in this report.9 votes -
Expenses - Multiple levels of approval
We need to upload an Approval Matrix/Approval hierarchy with a scope depending on "Location" and "Total amount" with 2 levels of approvers for "Expense claims" (EC) & "Purchase Orders" (PO).
With that, we are looking for automation on sending the EC & PO automatically by the system to the correspondent Approver depending on the scope through email.79 votesThanks for your idea, Micaela. Expenses and Purchase Orders are quite different transactions types in Xero.
We try to keep one idea per thread here so we can get a true view of the interest for that specific functionality. I've slightly adjusted the title of your idea to represent Expense Claims but welcome you to start another for Purchase Orders specifically where we can track that too 🙂

Fixed Assets (New) - Importing assets
The importing of assets from csv files via the new module does not work. I keep getting invalid file type.
Yet using the same csv file in the old fixed assets module works perfectly well.
Why was this bug not picked up in testing before releasing? Please ensure this is fixed before the old module is retired.1 voteAppreciate you raising this here. While the team do lots of testing before releasing new features sometimes there can be odd issues that pop up that could be niche or specific to a device or browser.
It would be good to get a bit more detail so we could better understand and take a closer look into what may be causing this issue when trying to import Fixed Assets in the new module.
Could you please raise this with our specialists at Xero Support through the Contact Xero Support link at the bottom of the page here in Xero Central? If you can share the file that you were importing when you ran into issues as well as any detail about the error you're getting that will help the team investigate. Thanks
