Reconciliation | Bank fee - Cursor default to contact
When adding a bank fee adjustment during the details entry of a reconciliation, it'd save a click to automatically place the cursor focus on the contact field. This already happens when we click to add details to a reconciliation, so it makes sense for the same behavior to occur when we click to add a bank fee adjustment. One click...hundreds of times...lots of efficiency!
1 voteThanks for your suggestion, Matthew. I'll share back with our product team. In the meantime lets start to get sense of community interest through your idea here and we'll let you know here if there are any changes planned.

Invoicing - Adjust 28 days conflict for 30 day suppliers in February
In February this year, all suplier invoices that were supposed to be marked 30 days, got moved to due in March and not end Feb due to the 28 days, This needs to be changed as an exception as there will never be 30 days in Feb.

Inventory - Add multiple suppliers for same product
When adding products from suppliers, it would be great to be able to add multiple suppliers details on one product (to save having the same item listed multiple times with each individual suppliers codes/costs etc). For example Supplier 1: Coca Cola Cans, Code: 1234 Cost: £12.99, Supplier 2: Coca Cola Cans, Code: A1244, Cost: £19.50. Rather have Coca Cola saved twice had sections within that product for multiple suppliers.

New invoicing - option to 'approve and close'
There are new options now under 'Approve' on the new Sales Invoice. The majority of my invoices are created post-purchase, so I create the invoice, approve the invoice, then usually need to go back to the Invoices overview. I want to see added 'Approve and return' or 'Approve and close'. Currently it takes me three clicks to get back to the invoices, because I need to click on Approve, then 'Invoices' from the breadcrumb, then to 'All' since it defaults back to Awaiting Payment. (Why doesn't clicking 'Invoices' from the breadcrumb take you back to the All tab?? Surely that would please everyone, since that's ALL the invoices??

4 votesHi Trudi, while the Business menu option I mentioned in my last update remains the best flow for what you're after here currently.
I thought it may be useful to share that we've recently released some keyboard shortcuts for common actions in new invoicing that may help improve your efficiency when invoicing. Our product team have added small prompts to highlight these in the product while our customers familiarise, and if you’d like to view the full list of options you can see them all on Xero Central.
We'll continue to track the interest in an approve & close option here, and share if there are any changes planned that may impact this.

Files Folders - Drag and drop files to change order
Within Files folder, to sort by drag and drop please? These are remittance advice for Gift Aid payments from HMRC and therefore not attached to any invoices BUT can get uploaded in the wrong order which is confusing for the auditor. Currently the only option is to download the whole contents, sort and reload.
Also could it be made possible please to have subfolders so that we can easily divide eg monthly investment reports by financial year without having a long list of separate folders in the main index?2 votes -
Contact Name duplicated for Expense Claims transactions
When you submit a transaction via the Expense Claims function, it will duplicate the Contact Name and add that into the front of the description, so when you run an Account Transactions report, it then shows the Contact Name twice (because all transactions automatically have the Contact Name added in at the start of the description already) but then the Expense Claims feature does it again, so your transaction report line item will show as "Supplier Name - Supplier Name - Description of transaction" instead of just "Supplier Name - Description of transaction".
Can Xero remove the duplication here?

Xero Me | Expenses - Allow time to focus camera when capturing receipts
When using the xero me app to capture an receipt image to upload to an expense, the capture is much too quick, and does not allow enough time for the phone camera to focus. Also it does not support multi receipt capture.

Batch payments - Print Receipts
The ability to print receipts for batch payments is desperately needed.
Currently there is no way to print a receipt for batch payments. There is only the ability to email receipts or print deposit summary. Deposit summaries do not contain the level of detail that a receipt does.
Currently, to print receipts for payments recorded in a batch deposits you have to email the receipt to yourself first. The problem with this is, when you enter your email address in the blank field it then automatically updates the customers contact details with your email address, so you have to then go to there contact page to delete the email address. This process is very time consuming.
Please add a dropdown box for receipts with the option to print or email them. Alternatively, add a separate button to print receipts.

4 votesThanks for your idea here, Laurie. Appreciate the detail in your post and why you'd like to see this.
Its not something we have direct plans for atm, but we'll continue to track the interest here and share any updates.
While not the ideal solution, for the time being to avoid updating your contacts record when you click send receipt from a batch payment, you could uncheck the recipients but have the option to 'Send me a copy' checked.

Contacts | Activity - See if transactions have attachments
See which BILLS have attached documents.
On a Suppliers Contact page, under ACTIVITY tab, in the overview of the Bills/Spend Money, it would be useful to be able to see which items have a document attached to them.
And which items don't.
A simple icon to indicate that there is documentation behind the entry.
We frequently have to add documents after the entry has been made via Bank Reconciliation rules. Knowing which items have already been populated, rather then having to open/close individual items, would be a great time saver.1 voteThanks for sharing, John. Appreciate not all in one place atm, however from Bills lists (Awaiting payment etc) you can see if bills have file attachments in the far right column. Similarly from the bank account Account transactions page you'll be able to see this same file icon for Spend and Receive money transactions that have files attached.

Bills - Option to unapprove
Bills: unapprove option
Have the option to unapprove a bill so it can revert back to draft/awaiting approval rather than having to void a bill and re-enter it.
585 votesThank you for sharing your thoughts on the possible solution we shared a few months ago. After careful consideration taking all feedback on board, we will not be moving forward with this solution.
We're still considering how we might solve for the issues presented here over the long term and there are other pieces of work the team are currently delving into such as duplicate bills detection that may also help solve some needs here.
That said, we'll move the idea back to Submitted and continue to keep you updated on any progression that can help the needs expressed through the idea here. Thanks

New invoicing - Increase size of item code display
The item code on the New invoicing shows much smaller that it was on the Classic Invoicing. Example attached shows how much harder it is to read. Can this be enlarged?

Direct Bill Payments - Review previous payment runs
Whilst being able to set-up a payment run directly within Xero is great and saves time, it can be tedious and difficult when trying to reconcile it on the bank.
There are two things Xero should add:
There is seemingly no way in the bills screen to review previous payment runs. Something that at least would make it easier to check back at what was included in that payment.
It should also put all payments from one payment run as one batch payment in the bank rec screen. Otherwise no time at all is saved in reconciliation as you still need to go back through the find and match options.

Repeating Invoice Template - Date Placeholders to show as YYYY MM
In Recurring invoice templates provide date placeholders in numeric form, so you can format as YYYY MM, e.g. 2024 12, 2025 01, 2025 02 etc. Rather than the most similar option of 2024 December. This would also be beneficial within the decriptions of the lines to show dates from/to e.g 2024-12-03 to 2025-01-02 (for a monthly subscribtion or similar), instead of it populating as 2024-December-03 to 2025-January-02.

AU Payroll - Warning or prevent adding second SGC line to a pay template
When adding second line items in super. If (I did this so I know it is easy) you add a second SGC line for a fixed amount as well as a statutory amount it would be great if xero asked a warning question 'are you sure you want to add a second SGC contribution. OR if just isn't allowed. My understanding is a employer additional contribution would be the correct line item if employer and salary sacrificing if employee (pre or post tax). This will avoid an accidental overpayment of SGC.
