  1. Shortcuts for Financial Statement Reports

It would be extremely helpful to have shortcuts to navigate financial statements.
E.g. 1 would go to the first page of the report, 2 would go to profit and loss, 3 to balance sheet etc. this would assist with quickly switching between different reports in the financial statements.

Hi Emile, appreciate you sharing this suggestion for specific shortcuts that would improve efficiency when working in reports. This idea is open for fellow community members to support through voting and comments.

We also have an existing idea for more shortcuts in Xero - we'd encourage you to also add your vote to that broader idea here: Navigation - More keyboard shortcuts in Xero.

Voting on both helps us in two ways: it shows our Reporting team the specific need you have, and it also contributes to the overall demand for more keyboard efficiency across all of Xero.

Thanks again for your valuable contribution to the community!

  2. Currently, when generating management reports in Xero, users have the ability to compare data across prior months and multiple periods. Some reports, like the Cash Summary, also include an “Average” option, which is a helpful feature for identifying trends.

It would be highly beneficial to extend this “Average” functionality to all relevant reports—particularly the Profit & Loss report—to provide more consistent and insightful analysis.

Additionally, the current average is calculated based on the financial year to date. This approach becomes less useful at the start of a new financial year when only limited data is available. To improve this, it…

  3. Dont automatically open a new tab when clicking the contact link in the new invoice or give option to turn this off.
There is Alt+click shortcut on all browsers to do this already.
Making this auto open as default leads to too many unnecessary tabs and attributing to a more messy workflow

Thanks for your detailed feedback, everyone. We do find that customers have differing expectations of how clicking a link should behave.

With the current behaviour, opening the contact in a separate tab means that users don't lose any information they may have entered in the invoice.

We don't have any plans for changing this in the near term but it'll be good for us to continue to get a sense of the interest around this from our community here. If there are any changes that may impact this we'll share an update with you all here.

  4. I have entered selling prices excluding GST but have noticed that some personnel have been invoicing inc GST yet xero hasn't adjusted the price of the item to add 10%. I need the item price to be the same either way of invoicing.

Can we make this happen some how ? so the price of the item is the same either way. MYOB manages to adjust it, you just set the price as either including or excluding and it adjusts it automatically when charged out. Maybe Xero should aim to improve this aspect of the program.

    Hi Kelly

Thanks for this suggestion. You're right that currently the tax inclusive/exclusive setting on the invoice would change the overall invoice total.

We've reviewed your idea and now it's up to the community to get behind and support it. Make sure you share your idea with any colleagues that this could benefit so they can add their vote too!

Along with votes, other members can now comment to share additional detail about how your idea could improve their experience with Xero.

In the meantime, you might want to tell all staff to enter invoices with the same tax treatment, to avoid accidentally under/overcharging for the same item. If you create all invoices on a tax-inclusive basis, you can enter the default sales price for your items including GST. Otherwise, you would need to enter the prices excluding GST.

  5. There is currently an option for a DEA to be table based when setting it up, however this doesn't do any of the calculations for the DEA. Instead, they need to be calculated manually & entered as a fixed amount. There is also no way of keeping track of the amounts deducted until the total has been paid within Xero, this also has to be done manually. This can especially be difficult if the employee's pay varies each period.

  6. Bills - View bills awaiting payment summarised by supplier with the ability to expand supplier to view invoices and select individually or make changes if required.

You need to use the awaiting payment screen to create batch payments. To make payments you have to select each individual invoice for a supplier which takes time and is inefficient.

Having the ability to view the awaiting payment screen showing summary (total) for the supplier would be helpful. You can still filter dates so you can see everything owed to a supplier within date range. Much like an Aged Payables report. You can…

  7. As default, can you please turn off the check box "Show journal on cash basis reports"
For users that rely on the 'Cash Summary' report, non-cash journals create significant difficulty getting a true read on the cash position of the business, a key requirement for this report. Thanks

Thanks for sharing the bank you'd like us to build a feed with, angel. We appreciate you taking your time to share changes that would be most meaningful to you.

  9. The "Review and pay" banner misleads recipients into thinking they can make electronic payments, but we're not using e-invoicing and have it turned off. Another major issue is that it causes significant delays in loading or, in some cases, renders the invoice completely inaccessible. The banner in the new invoicing should be named "Review" rather than "Review and pay" or be editable to suit different needs.

  10. At the moment Zero Rated GST can only be applied to Revenue items on the Chart of Accounts. When we deal with a property sale between GST registsred parties, the sale is also zero rated for GST purposes. We need the option to apply the 0% GST rate to asset codes as well as revenue codes. At the moment, we have to do a manual workaround.

  11. It would assist us if the Leave Accrued Report could also show the employee's start date. Long Service Leave is only applicable to staff from the 5 or 10 year mark for us in NSW but to ascertain whether staff are eligible for it is requiring external spreadsheets that have to be manually adjusted each month. Xero already has the functionality to enable this so it can't be hard to action.

Thanks for your idea and sharing in the forums here, Rachel.

Consideration would need to be given to how this behaves before and after a report date or date range is set, incase running for an older period that would include transaction lines that were categorised to an archived tracking option.

Being upfront, this isn't something we have any plans around for the time being, but we'll source interest from the community in this here, and share if there are any updates.

  13. SSP EXTENSION; There needs to be a way of extending SSP
Most people who are off sick are not aware of when they will return, it is often necessary to be able to extend SSP. It is not acceptable to have a process that requires reverting payroll. I am still trying to get almost £5000 back from HMRC because Xero reported the variance in April as an additional payroll & the YTD figures have not corrected the issue. Reverting payroll should be the very last resort & not used for something as standard as stat sick leave.

Hi, thanks for submitting this idea. As you mentioned, the Create option doesn't currently have a way to add a new account into your Chart of Accounts.

We appreciate you taking time to let us know how we could improve Xero for you, and your feedback will soon be reviewed by our Community team, and in the meantime this can begin to build support with votes from other community members.

  16. We pay contractors based on sales reports for each contractor. Getting this report is easy. In fact, Xero does that well. However, to get that same report and deduct a % value or any other value to work out what the contractor payment will be. Then being able to save & print & Email that report. Currently, we export to Excel, and whilst that works great, it is fiddly and time consuming. Probably not for everyone, but handy for some.

THi Steven 👋, thanks for raising this idea. We appreciate its not straightforward calculating the percentage of invoices paid to contractors, which we know creates extra manual work. Although this is not on our current roadmap, we will monitor this idea for votes and other comments. However, for now, a workaround would continue to be to export the report and use a spreadsheet application to calculate the percentages. 📈

  17. When entering a new stock item, there isn't an opening to enter opening stock.
We need to create the item first then enter the quantities in an adjustment tab.
It makes sense to make adjustments to items already created, but surely we should be able enter an opening stock value when creating an item, this would save us a lot of time.

Hi, thanks for sharing this idea about setting the opening stock for a tracked item at the same time you add it.

Now it's up to the community to get behind and support your idea with their votes and comments about how this would help them, too.

As for how this is currently done, as well as setting the item's starting Quantity on Hand, there needs to be an accounting record for where the existing Value comes from.

The current process is to add the item(s) as Tracked and then either:

    • Importing the opening balances for your tracked items. *This option is only for when you first start using Tracked Inventory in your organisation*.
    • Entering an approving a Supplier Bill to record the first purchase of the item.
    • Entering an Adjustment (Increase Quantity-type) to move the value from another account (the adjustment account) to the Inventory Asset Account.
  18. Ability to cc and bcc when sending emails from xero.

This would be very useful as we have many clients that like to have various other people copied in.

Hey Freya, thank you for raising your idea to add CC'd email addresses for Invoice History. This sounds like it could really improve the tracking and auditing of historic invoices.

  19. Right now, the dashboard shows "Loading your transactions" for bank accounts far too often and for far too long. The dashboard should always show the current state of the user's accounts, not what is essentially an indeterminate progress bar. It would be more user-friendly to remove the message entirely because it doesn't give users any actionable information. If new transactions come in while the user is doing things, simply update the dashboard to indicate that there are new transactions to reconcile, even if the user just finished reconciling what was there before.

I go to Categorise to an account - on my iPhone it has a search accounts feature, on my colleagues Samsung phone there is no search feature - he has to scroll through all the accounts listed to find the correct accounting code
Will this feature be added to Samsung phones?

We also found this was the same when selecting Projects or Plant (tracking categories), on my iPhone I had a search feature, on his Samsung he did not and again would have to scroll through the extensive list we have…
