  2. It would be great to have the ability that Xero gives you a warning when an item line in Invoicing has a $0.00 in the unit price before been approved.
We have had clients that missed completing the price and then the Invoices are sent out.
It would be handy if they got a reminder that this is $0.
    Thank you

Thanks for sharing your idea with us, Gordon. As there are also legitimate scenarios where some customers may send 0.00 invoices adding an extra warning could also become frustrating.

This is something we may consider as an optional control longer term but want to be upfront that we don't have any plans of right now. For now we'll get a sense of the interest in this from your idea here.

  3. Just wanted to feedback some issues found during brief testing of Hubdoc (as potential replacement for Dext; we'll not be proceeding at this stage) ... here's what we found:
    - different naming conventions - “Credit Note/Refund” equivalent (not sure what it is?) not as intuitive
    - for multi-line entries, it doesn’t tell you what the remaining balance on a bill is (it does provide running total of lines entered but requires external 'calc' action)
    - clunkier on mobile phone - have to log in each time whereas Dext is just snap and go
    - no option to do multiple page…

Appreciate your feedback, Rich. It really helps if each idea you is raised separately. This way others know exactly what they're adding their vote for here in community, our product teams can get a sense of interest in a particular feature and we can keep users updated if there are plans made specifically for that functionality.

In terms of your ideas here I see you've titled your idea to reflect the first point you've raised, it looks like there are a few existing ideas that relates to items you've mentioned, otherwise you're welcome to start a new idea for each other point. Thanks

  4. Contacts - The ability to set the AP Liability account for a contact to any balance sheet liability account for this contact. Eg Tax Liability Account, Specified Finance Liability account
This would also necessitate the ability to have multipl AP liability accounts.

  5. We have requested Downloadable P11's to be made available so we can correct a mistake a previous Xero payroll provider made.
This is not available in Xero which is causing considerable inconvenience and a lot more manual work.

This would be a really good idea if this was brought into the payroll package.

  6. The "View recent bills report" functionality on a Contact page has changed since the new reporting was deployed this week. Previously, if you clicked on the link you would see a nice list of all approved bills for that vendor whether paid or not. This functionality has now changed and is effectively useless. Yes, you can get the same info by going into Business/bills to pay but that it is more clunky. Thank you.

  7. Record deposits on a quote or future invoice sale without raising the invoice value against a customer.

We manufacture a product and then install for a customer - with a deposit of either 50/50% or 30/30/30/10% at the point of approved sale. We are happy to create an invoice number but with a deposit on each sale this creates a "negative balance" and we do not want to create a sale until the final invoice has been agreed at installation. ie. a negative receivable.

  8. I'm creating a new report at the request of a client and I want to be able to add the selection of periods to compare, but ... it doesn't give me the option. Please can you add this to the 'create reports' function , and then, we can really create, beautiful and meaningful reports for our clients.

  10. Currently, when generating management reports in Xero, users have the ability to compare data across prior months and multiple periods. Some reports, like the Cash Summary, also include an “Average” option, which is a helpful feature for identifying trends.

It would be highly beneficial to extend this “Average” functionality to all relevant reports—particularly the Profit & Loss report—to provide more consistent and insightful analysis.

Additionally, the current average is calculated based on the financial year to date. This approach becomes less useful at the start of a new financial year when only limited data is available. To improve this, it…

  11. As accountants we are busy busy busy and I understand everyone is busy today but we are up against HARD DEADLINES almost daily in our business. Every extra "click" added in Xero over the last months have added extra time it takes to do our jobs. The extra clicks it takes to get to the last month Bank Rec is stupid crazy. No one reconciles their bank to "today" - we don't even have bank statements to reconcile to until month end and that is what we need our bank recs to reflect. When Xero updates it's product, it seems…

Appreciate your feedback on the changes across Xero, Jackie. Being open it is hard to understand true interest and communicate on ideas that span many features and areas of Xero, and for this reason we will mark the idea as not planned.

There are some necessary changes that in some places may add more change a previous flow you may have grown accustom through our building on beautiful work

Our teams are conscious of this and working wherever possible to increase simplicity for the way customers work in Xero.

  12. We have dealt with a few VAT inspections recently and HMRC request all invoices in relation to the VAT report. We have had to download each invoice individually and rename to match the references posted on Xero which has been extremely time consuming. It would be great if all invoices could be downloaded in bulk as per each VAT report and each invoice referenced to match the VAT report.

  13. I recently commented about the new invoicing not showing credit notes available, what I didn't realise that this was only for Repeating Invoices, not standard generated invoices which do infact show the credit available.

Some of our regular clients like to prepay so there are often credits to use. Upon approving a repeating invoice, the classic used to say there was a credit available on that contact, click here to use it. There is no such feature on the new repeating invoicing to indicate there is a credit available you have to go and manually check. As well as not…

Hi Claire, I've tried replicating your scenario here using both a newly created and an existing repeating template.

In both cases when I open an invoice that has been generated from the template and credit is available I can see an option on the invoice to Apply credit (as shown in my image)

Could you please raise a case on this with our Xero support team on Xero Central. They have tools to be able to look into this deeper and confirm what's going on and why credit is not appearing for application in your invoices.

  14. When filling the GST to ATO through Xero and selecting to Lodge and save bill as draft, I can't find any billing information in the draft bill (nor approved bill) .I don't know where to pay this bill, I need the billing details which have not transferred with the bill.
I have to do this manually, save the pdf to desktop then attach to draft bill (do it the old way like 20 years ago)???
This should not be a new idea. It should be a minimum to have a draft bill with the related bill attachment.
    Can you…

Hi there, when lodging directly through Xero, payment details are displayed at the top of the statement page once it's been lodged, including various payment options such as Bpay, credit card, and others.

Please note that these payment details are only available when you are connected to the ATO in Xero and lodging directly through the platform. This is because the payment details are provided directly by the ATO and are specific to your entity.

  15. I request xero development team to edit the billable expense feature or create a new feature. Currently for billable expense to be invoiced to customer, first we need to enter the billable expense and than later invoice to customer. However, in our case, we first send the customer a tax invoice to collect advance from customer and than make spending for the expenses on behalf of customer. However, in this case we can not make sure or link within xero what was invoiced to customer and how much was spent against that invoice. I mean if we the invoice for…

  16. WorkflowMax has no understanding of foreign currencies. We now have WFM clients that are being invoiced in either Australian or US dollars as opposed to the standard NZ dollars.

Before sending the invoice from WFM, we set up the contact in Xero to have the following information:
Under Financial Details: Currency = US Dollar
Under Sales Defaults: Sales GST = Zero Rated and Branding Theme - US Invoice
Please see two attachments showing the settings.

When we send the invoice (Approved) from WFM to Xero, the GST and Branding Theme are correctly picked up but the Currency setting…

  17. Addition option of show customer statement "actual" outstanding instead "as at" date.
Eg, Our customer ABC need us to furnish a Outstanding statement that as at 30 June 2023, and there is 4 invoice unpaid. Happen that 15 July 2023the customer pay the 3 invoices only. Customer request us to send the statement show the 1 unpaid invoice dated 30 June 2023 but it still shows 4 outstanding, how can we show the the one unpaid invoice in the statement.

Ideal additional option of show date 30.6.23 and show the one 1 unpaid invoice only. Kindly advice.

  18. I would like the GST AUDIT REPORT to be permanently updated, so that the transaction SOURCE FIELD would be included in the report. Otherwise the report should be customisable to include this and many other fields / options, so any of us professionals and internal accountants can extract what we need to review client / business BAS data easier, and lodge the BAS's quicker. There are MANY ideas for the GST AUDIT report to be customisable and several are also relevant to me and my needs, but I couldn't find a request for this one and it is such an…

  19. Student Loan Tax Calculation
Xero tax sets out the calculation of Income tax and NIC very well.

Unfortunately, the system is obscure in relation to displaying the calculation for Student Loan Tax which is important for an increasing number of young people coming into financial maturity.

We need to provide adequate assurance both to them and the increasingly aggressing Student Loan Company to avoid penalties and unexpected bills.

I request that Xero includes a breakdown of the calculation on the Summary computation report.

This would add a great deal of assurance and quality control for both our young clients and…

  20. Hi Xero team,

I’m reaching out from a regional local government in Western Australia. We want to use Xero and appreciate its simplicity and usability. However, we’ve found that Xero’s current design is limiting for local government requirements — particularly in terms of transaction volume, internal controls, audit reporting, governance, and integrated project accounting.

I believe there’s a compelling opportunity for Xero to consider developing a dedicated “Local Government” edition or expansion, especially tailored for smaller regional councils. There are over 500 local governments in Australia, many of which are seeking modern, cloud-based, ERP solutions that balance simplicity with the…
