Budget Manager - Ability to add Notes
I really need to add notes to the Budget Manager fields to explain (as much to aid my own memory as anything) how I calculated the amounts in each line for each month. This will be helpful when the budget is interrogated at Board meetings and I can easily reference what was included in the expected income or expenditure figures for a month. Xero has this facility in other financial reports, but it is desperately needed in budget manager.

Expense claims - auto populate data like date, organisation, amount when uploading
When uploading an expense claim, Xero should auto populate data like date, organisation, amount to cut down on data entry and mistakes.
Hubdoc has this feature, can this be applied to expense claims?
1 voteAppreciate you confirming that you were referring to this from the desktop version, Kelly. I'll re-open the idea here. It's not something we have plans on at present but will track this here, and let you know if any change i s planned.

Expense Claims - keep the attachment in a fixed position on the screen, allowing us to view information without needing to scroll down.
When reviewing an expense claim, it would be ideal if the attachment (receipt) could fill the left side of the screen, so we can see the full receipt.
Scrolling up and down to view information is tedious, so having the attachment displayed in a fixed area with an option to zoom in when needed would make the process much smoother.
Currently, the view shows the top third only, so it misses a lot of information.
1 voteHi Kelly, just to confirm would this be when using the Xero Me app to view and enter claims?

Subscription Payment Method - Auto GIRO Deduction
Current subscription payment method only allows debit/credit cards, it creates an additional step for the cardholder to claim back the fund from company every month. Therefore, I need the option to pay for the Xero subscription via auto GIRO deduction directly from company's bank account. It is more logical to have auto GIRO option since the subscription is for company use and the payment is recurring.

Projects - Show project allocation (or blank) on Invoices/Bills overview and exports
Ability to show Xero Project assignment on the Invoice overview export report an the Bills export report so you can see what sales and costs have been allocated to which project or not at all.

AU Payroll - Show employee groups or Employee ID in payroll reports
It would be great if the employee group was included in the payroll reports. The company I am working for requires the employee ID (or employee group) to be displayed in the reports along side the name of the employee. Or if Xero could create a new field that has the employee ID number so that it is displayed in all payroll reports.

Login - Single Sign-on (SSO) across Xero Products
Would be nice when moving from Xero to Xero HQ and Xero Central to have it retain your login so you do not have to login to each site separately.

Quotes - Line numbers for items in quotes
Not being able to enter an item # in quotes: This is a bad flaw in your software for people selling services and should be fixed. I People doing custom project services will not want to create new "products" every time they do a custom quote, they just want to add Item 1, 2, 3 and start typing work description

Reporting - Inventory Item Summary to include untracked purchases in Cost of Goods Sold
There is no reason to override a cogs associated account to a purchase account in the inventory item summary.
The suggestion is to allow the inventory item summary report to report on items as they are actually tracked on the P&L meaning material purchases are a cogs and should show in the cogs on this report.

User Roles - Select which reports a user can access
It would be useful if a feature was added so that when granting access to users you can choose which reports they have access to. At the moment, in order to give any member of a business access to see any report they may need or find useful they will also have access to view far more intrusive reports like full Profit & Loss reports and Balance Sheets. A current situation we are trying to deal with is that our client would like one of their managers to provide them with estimated figures for specific expenses in order for them to be able to forecast better but they do not want their manager to be able to see full P&Ls for the company so the manager has no method of viewing specific costings for a particular period.

AU Payroll - Units and Rates for Reimbursements
If Reimbursements are meant to be used for certain allowances then we need to be able to set up units and unit rates in the same way as we do for allowances, otherwise the calculation becomes a manual one and leaves room for human error. It also means reporting is not clear on how the amount was calculated as even though you can enter a description on the payslip i dont beleive there is a report that summarises this.
ie for overtime meal allowances you should be able to show how many you have paid and at what rate so that you can show whether they are above or below the ATO rates. As it stands the reimbursement would just show up as a lump sum.If Reimbursements are meant to be used for certain allowances then we need to be able to set up units and unit rates in the same way as we do for allowances, otherwise the calculation becomes a manual one and leaves room for human error. Hubdoc - Use consistent naming for transaction types
Just wanted to feedback some issues found during brief testing of Hubdoc (as potential replacement for Dext; we'll not be proceeding at this stage) ... here's what we found:
- different naming conventions - “Credit Note/Refund” equivalent (not sure what it is?) not as intuitive
- for multi-line entries, it doesn’t tell you what the remaining balance on a bill is (it does provide running total of lines entered but requires external 'calc' action)
- clunkier on mobile phone - have to log in each time whereas Dext is just snap and go
- no option to do multiple page invoices on the phone (they would have to be by scan/email)
- doesn’t see email inline jpg images (e.g. phone screenshot) or text (e.g. Amazon standard email) at all without attachments (got unexpected "Undeliverable" email response to standard Amazon email)

This way others know exactly what they're adding their vote for here in community, our product teams can get a sense of interest in a particular feature and we can keep users updated if there are plans made specifically for that functionality.
In terms of your ideas here I see you've titled your idea to reflect the first point you've raised, it looks like there are a few existing ideas that relates to items you've mentioned, otherwise you're welcome to start a new idea for each other point. Thanks

Sales invoices - Lite version of invoicing
The new invoicing page design has created a bloated feature-packed version of invoicing that, whilst great for companies who regularly email or print invoices for posting, is an absolute pain in the proverbial to navigate for companies such as ours who only create invoices for accounting purposes, and never send them out.
For background context, we are a small family-owned investment property company who create invoices in Xero corresponding to rental income statements we receive from letting agencies. We only create the invoices once we've received the statements, so the original invoicing feature was perfect for us. Its replacement is a painful navigational nightmare.
Please create an invoicing lite option that mirrors the original invoicing page, OR give us the option to turn off options for adding payment details, approving and emailing the invoice and approving and printing a PDF of the invoice. A straight "Approve" option would be more than sufficient.
I am sure we are not the only company using Xero, who only use invoicing to create an accounting entry for revenue we receive almost automatically. I'm therefore certain we won't be the only customers driven to irritation by the new invoicing solution.
For the time being, we will be using the classic invoicing option, until we can do so no longer.

AU Payroll - Change Employees' Status without deleting
Moving employees from Part-time to causal or visa versa without deleting them!
The Solve: Just have a date range/calendar within their employee info for what classification of employee they are during that date range.
Transitioning employees causes undue messiness of information, which is counter to the point of the software. You have 2 employees that are the same person. Which also counts towards how many employees a business has for xero pricing purposes.4 votes -
Reports - Adjust column width
Would be useful to be able to narrow column width, especially when decimals are removed and more months are required on 1 page. Similar to Excel, where we can change width and height of rows or columns.
95 votesHi team, to share your feedback with the right teams and individuals can you please explain the screens/pages in Xero you'd find this particularly useful?

Group and Summarize by Description
When reconciling transactions, there is "Who, What, Why". When viewing reports, the "Who" becomes "Description". Not ideal, but okay.
We really need a way to Group and Summarize by that Description field. Especially when looking at annual reports for accounts that have lots of monthly expenses, it would be really great to have them totaled up by Description.

New invoicing - Ability to set 'days due' when sending invoice
An option to see how many 'days' due in preview section for the new version of invoicing
Could we have an option in xero please to select 'due 30 days' from when we approve/send an invoice ?
In the classic invoicing when you preview it (before approving and sending it) it would always say how many 'days' it is due as well as the 'due date' this helps as we expect payment within 30 days of the customer receiving the invoice not 30 days from the invoice date.7 votes -
New Invoicing - Option to apply credit when using 'Approve and add another'
The new invoicing alerts you to a credit on a customer's account if you APPROVE an invoice but if you APPROVE AND ADD ANOTHER invoice it simply moves right on and does not mention the credit. Please could the apply credit option be available regardless of the way you finalise your invoice.
