Fixed Asset register - Cost limit for fixed assets fully depreciated at purchase
Ability to choose a cost limit for a fixed asset when the depreciation method is set to 'Full Depreciation at Purchase'.
For instance a car is purchased for over the cost limit, therefore only $64k or so is able to be written off immediately with the balance to sit as an undepreciable amount.
Currently the full depreciation at purchase method writes off the whole amount, and diminishing value at 100% with a cost limit will still pro-rata the depreciation for the year and not write off the full cost limit amount.

New invoicing - Change the colour of the 3 dot menu button
The latest glitch is that while using the edit function, something triggers the new invoicing to think that an amount has been added to a quantity or price box in one of the lines, presumably one that is being used as just a text line, and there is no way of knowing which box has been triggered so that you might know what you need to clear as nothing is flagged by the software. This also highlights that you don't have a cancel button making it harder to discard all those edits you have wasted entering making it harder to start over...
This is compounded by the fact you're clicking the update button in the top right-hand corner, and the error message appears in the bottom left-hand corner briefly, all well & good if you're using a tablet or phone but not good if you're using a full-screen desktop monitor as it doesn't show in the same eye line so would be best if the error message appeared under the update button.
While I'm making this new complaint I might also complain about the fact that the 3 dot button to access the edit button could be using the blue colour for the 3 dots to make it easier to spot as the pale grey doesn't show up against the larger blue payment or update & drop-down menu buttons before it. Why not 3 white dots on a blue background?
My gut feeling is you're prioritising the interface to work with touchscreens rather than conventional desktop computers but don't have the nerve to tell us and you are now feeling the anger of all the bookkeepers & accountants who have a different need from the software to the one-man band that just wants to raise the invoice when job is done etc.

3 votesHi Paul, appreciate your feedback on the new invoicing experience. We're continuing to develop this for all customers so your inputs are valuable.
With your first point around the description only line - my recent update on the related idea here may explain the behaviour you're noticing. If you're selecting a saved item to enter description only lines there is a change to how this works between the old and new version and it's not possible to use items as description only atm. We're monitoring this so please do add your vote to the idea there is you feel this applies to your situation.
It's best for us to keep one idea per thread so I'll adjust the title of your post here to match your second point on the colouring of the menu button and we can get a gauge of the interest around this too.

Hubdoc APP - Ability to view notes added to documents.
Can we please have the ability to see if a note has been added to a document when you are in the Hubdoc APP without having to go into a document.
The ability to see this is available in the Web version, would be great to see it in the APP as well.
Thanks

Multi Currency - Exchange Rate Import and Export
Please look into the idea for Importing and Exporting exchange rate from Xero for the ease of update if default XE Rate is not used by the organisation and the export function to generate exchange rates used for the period.

AU Payroll - Option to include Public Holiday hours in Unpaid leave types
At this stage Xero doesn't recognise if an Employee is on Unpaid Leave.
Xero's default behaviour when an employee (that is assigned to a holiday group) submits a request for a period of Unpaid Leave spanning one or more public holidays, is to exclude those Public Holidays from the calculated Unpaid Leave hours.
This has the effect of allocating those Public Holidays as paid hours in a pay-run rather than as unpaid hours. This is not consistent with the Fair Work Act (https://www.fairwork.gov.au/employment-conditions/public-holidays/not-working-on-public-holidays)
If this is not picked up and adjusted before finalising a pay-run it can result in over-pay, with a knock-on effect in relation to super payments and the possible over-accrual of other leave entitlements which would need to be reversed using unscheduled payruns.
At present, manual adjustment of the calculated unpaid leave hours prior to posting/finalising a payrun is the only viable preventative solution since other workarounds such as removing an employee from a holiday group would have undesirable consequences for the way public holidays are treated for paid leave types.
The need for manual checking and adjustments just add to the administrative burden.
A better and simple solution would be for Xero to either:
• change the default behaviour to include public holiday hours in the unpaid leave type, or
• add a payroll-admin selectable option to include or exclude public holiday hours from leave typesAt this stage Xero doesn't recognise if an Employee is on Unpaid Leave.

Bill Payments - Use supplier's unique ID as the "Details" reference for Crezco payments
When paying bills using Crezco use the "Details" field from the Supplier Contact / Finance as the payment reference.
For instance if a supplier has given us a unique ID on there system as "DME002" use this reference in the payment field when doing Crezco payments.
FYI. It used to be this way with Wise payments? but has now changed as we move over to Crezco?3 votes -
Bank Reconciliation - Restore duplicate statement line from exception report
I have a client whose workers use toll gates daily, often returning on the same day. Xero sees this as a duplicate expense and delete the second transaction.
It would help if Xero can create a report showing these duplicates and giving the option to pull them into the bank.2 votesHi Mariaan, while not possible to restore the statement lines from the report, you can run the Statement Exceptions report which shows deleted or duplicated statement lines.

AU Payroll - Employer Expenses
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE add an option to Payroll that allows employer expenses to be processed. The Union our company is a member of insists we pay as an employer expense into a redundancy program and also an income protection program for each employee. The Union demands that the payments are detailed on each employees payslip. We can only do this if we have an employer expense option. One of my clients in the United Kingdom uses the UK version of XERO and their version allows for this. Come on Australia, catch up!!!

Fixed Assets - Create as Draft if recoded from other accounts
Xero should create Fixed Assets as a draft if they are recoded from other accounts at a later date, rather than having to completely remove them and re-enter them as fixed assets.

Login - Use backup email or phone for confirmation of suspicious login
you should be able to confirm your account with a secondary email. I got locked out of my primary email, and Xero thought my normal log in was suspicious. I had not way to confirm my account. I have a secondary email. What is the point of the secondary email if there is no way to use it to confirm my account? Or use my phone for a text confirmation.

Invoices - Support Pay Now with Foreign Currency
The Pay Now option is not visible on the online page of an invoice when the currency of the invoice does not match the organisation's default currency. This is especially annoying when Payment Services such as Stripe are set-up as they can easily process multiple currencies.
Moreover, as it is not (or poorly) documented that Payment Services are not usable when using a foreign currency, it just seems to be a bug. I contacted support who responded with the following:
"The Pay Now button on an invoice only shows if the currency of the invoice or payment account is the same as your organisation's base currency."
Our default currency is AUD, but most invoices are in USD, in general payments are collected directly in Stripe, but it is essential for us to be able to create a USD invoice in Xero and get it paid directly as it is possible in AUD.
Thanks!

Contacts - Show Payment Terms by Contact
Right now, we see average days we pay or receive payment. It would be good if we can have another row that shows us the payment terms we have with the contact so we can benchmark against performance that way. The data is already in Xero, just need to show it.

AU Payroll - Assign multiple tracking categories to pay items
Create the ability to allocate payroll items (eg Wages & Super) to multiple sets of tracking categories within payroll.
The only way that wages can be allocated to tracking categories is via timesheets or Journals (and only one set of tracking categories is able to be included in the timesheet).
This would be really helpful for many NFP's who require the ability to use two sets of tracking categories for all their expenses including Wages & Super (One set of tracking categories for departments and another for funding sources/grants).

1 voteNot sure I quite understand your idea and where you'd like to see change in Xero to help your business here, Kate. If you can come back to share more detail of what you'd like to see changed that'll help when sharing back with the team, and for others that may also be interested in this through the community.

Bills - Bulk approve and bulk edit accounts on draft bills
I forward invoices to Bills via the email feature.
I then batch process these at regular intervals.
There could be 50 to 100 bills here.
I have set default purchase contacts for all these contacts yet none of these drafts use that until I go into the bill for manual approval.
This wastes a lot of time as I have to go through each bill 1 by 1.Allow me to bulk edit the accounts on Draft Bills and / or use the default account setting for that contact.
This simple change would save me hours and I would get 10X more value from Xero

Chart of Accounts - Multiple Accounts Receivable and Payable
It would be very useful to be able to separate Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable to classify the contacts between external and internal (intercompany/group). This would assist with the consolidated views for a group of entities.

UK Payroll - Change payroll journal date
The Payroll Journal dates are currently fixed to be the Pay Date, which is incorrect for any business that has hourly paid employees which must pay after end of month, when all hours are calculated.
Every month all of our P&L figures are wrong because of this. Nobody wants to have to waste time doing loads of manual journals every month, which have the potential for mistakes, when Xero has created a system which is supposed to automate this process.
Others have raised it but Xero never replied, see link at the bottom below.
The solution is:
Create "Payroll Journal Date" as a configurable field in payroll settings, so that organisations can choose this for themselves. It should default to the period end date for that payroll, because as long as it's paid by the 5th of the month, it is fine from a tax perspective.
OR if creating a new field is too much effort, simply change the journal date to always be the period end date, not the payment date.
Probably Payroll was developed to create journals on the payment date because nobody had considered hourly paid industries - most salaried jobs pay within the month. But for many industries this is impossible, so this should be standard functionality and we should not be left with messed up P&L.
