New Invoicing - Keep the previous Contact when using Copy
Please change the new invoicing so when we copy the invoice, the previous contact automatically appears as default
We should not be choosing the customer each time we copy an invoice
Hi everyone, we've introduced a change to new invoicing so you now have the ability to copy an invoice to a draft invoice and keep the existing contact. 🙂
When you select this option, you'll see a pop up where the current contact is selected by default, however you can choose another contact or leave this blank if you'd prefer.
Thank you for all your support and sharing back on the idea for this feature, here.

Not copying across the customer details is infuriating. Why did you decide to push forward with a broken system "new invoicing" when classic works just fine.

New invoicing - this has slowed me down . Now when you copy an invoice it does not keep the customer information - it keeps everything but this! This is really frustrating, please can you change this back the old invoicing used to carry this forward. also the way you have to now add attachments is a step back and slows everything down too.
I would not be using this is you weren't retiring the old invoicing - I found the old invoicing far quicker and more efficient to use
I wish I was a fan but I am not

Please retain the classic invoicing indefinitely. Forcing users onto a new system which actually adds more clicks is bad product design.

I also need the date easy to change back, old system is quicker and easier new invoicing system it takes longer and who can get 300+ invoices out on same day so need option to change date easy
Need to input on sales codes too
Need to add 5+ or 10+ lines in one go, not just keep adding 1 line when you get to the bottom, I do a lot of copying and pasting so having multiple lines at a time is good -

New system is rubbish, I need this full copy and the company name as per lots of other comments, I invoice various branches and when I copy an invoice I see which is the correct one, then all of a sudden it has gone
I WON'T BE USING NEW INVOICING UNTIL THE ORIGINAL FEATURES ARE COPIED OVER, I will look elsewhere if you can't fix it before September

Please keep the original client name when copy the invoice

When we click on "copy to draft invoice " within a specific client, it does not automatically populate the same "contact name" like before ( all other details are duplicated ) . You manually have to enter the Customer name again.

The same applies to the Invoice reference where I put the PO for a job. Why should I have to input the PO each time? The new format is making more work not less. Keep Classic Invoicing if this does not change.

In that case, when an invoice is copied the contact needs to be applied, but contacts need to contain multiple recipients, with each recipient having the ability to override the defaults for the contact. Copying an invoice would then apply our company defaults, then load the contact, apply the contact defaults, then apply the recipient and apply their defaults. Or you just copy the invoice, kind of do what the label says. The majority of users have been working with old invoicing, so start there.

Adds heaps of time to the workflow and the potential for mistakes - please add in the autopopulate feature asap, worked well in old invoicing!

Like others I totally agree that when we copy an invoice, the previous contact should appear as this will lead to invoices being sent to the wrong client if manual selection is needed. I have files where there are up to 10 different contacts for the one client eg University of WA

The new invoice system is badly designed enough without adding insult to injury and having to manually find the clients name every time we copy an invoice from last time. Whoever designed the new system should be ashamed of themselves. Just leave the old system, it was fine. The designers will always think of different systems just so they can get paid more.

please make this copy the customer name to the new draft

Totally agree that when we copy an invoice, the previous contact should appear. Otherwise mistakes can be made an invoice could be sent to the wrong contact.

Simply put, classic invoicing was fine, new invoicing is NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE!
Classic invoicing was fast to use, all data I needed was clear to see, Never had a problem.
New invoicing is horrendous!
Until all of these issues are fixed, it is IMPOSSIBLE for us to use new invoicing.
1) Copy invoice does not copy over contact details - when I copy, I want to copy EVERYTHING exactly per the original, including the contact!
2) Autosave is NOT a feature that we want. I regularly open an invoice just to check a price or give a customer a quick verbal quote over the phone so that I don't have to do maths in my head. Autosave means I will have at least 20 or 30 false draft invoices saved every day that I do not want, and I will now have to allocate time to separating them from the real drafts i do want, and delete off the false ones.
3) Item Code missing - there is a whole separate threat for just this issue. We physically CANNOT use new invoicing until Item Code has been re-instated as per classic invoicing. We do not use descriptions, our company runs on items codes only.
4) Why is the Tax code hidden? I need to check see this at a glance for every line, just like on classic invoicing.
5) Why is the account code hidden? I need to check see this at a glance for every line, just like on classic invoicing.
6) TOO MUCH WHITE SPACE. I now have to scroll for miles. I need to see everything at a glance on one screen, just like on classic invoicing.
7) I never use xero to email my invoices. I either download the PDFs and email them myself through outlook, OR I have to upload them into various customers online portals. The approve & send must be changed back to approve only.
I have no idea what we will do if these are not fixed before September.....

What's the point of copying if you don't copy everything?!

Another vote for this 'idea'. The features in 'new invoicing' appear to add to keystrokes/scroll time. Madness!
I use the copy function, because it does exactly that - it copies the customer name and reference, which in my case is the customer purchase order number. Having to manually populate these fields will add to my workload - thanks Xero

Invoicing is painfull and time consuming now since the contact details do not transfer over when you copy a previous invoice. Some business that need to be invoiced have different departments that need to be invoice separately, taking away this feature will cause errors and will inhibit the payment of the invoices as they have gone to different departments.

I can't understand why this feature is being removed, most of the time we're copying an invoice it is to keep the same contact and change the rest of the invoice details. It seems like a real step backwards to not copy the contact.

We use this function with about 70% of all invoices that are repeating each month. The removal of this feature has added significant time and inconvenience to a system that worked well previously. Please add this feature back.
