Hi everyone, we appreciate your input on being able to add new tracking options while invoicing and our team are looking into improvements that could be made to this flow in new invoicing. I'll keep you looped in on any change for this here.

Thank you everyone for continuing to connect with us on this, here. We know this is an important feature for many of our customers, and I can confirm that work is under way to develop the ability to copy the contact across to a new draft invoice when using the Copy to feature in new invoicing.

We'll shift the idea across to working on it and I'll be back to share when it's live for you to all start using. 😊

Another vote for this 'idea'. The features in 'new invoicing' appear to add to keystrokes/scroll time. Madness!

I use the copy function, because it does exactly that - it copies the customer name and reference, which in my case is the customer purchase order number. Having to manually populate these fields will add to my workload - thanks Xero

Hi community, thank you for your continued engagement with us on how we can improve new invoicing for you here.

    As we keep developing the experience any actions that include steps and clicks are front of mind for the team. Some more updates that help reduce steps since my last post;

    • You can now tab to select a highlighted contact and move through to the next field - related idea
    • Create a new repeating template from a draft invoice - related idea

Further to this our team are currently doing some work and have designs for a new layout that they'd like to get feedback on. We'd like to open this to our community and have created a form that you can sign up through ✍️- If you'd like to be involved please add your details and the team will be in touch.

Once the team's work has concluded,…

Hi everyone, we appreciate all your feedback on how we could evolve roles for customers using Xero. As you can see through the ideas on the platform, there are a wide range of combinations of permissions our customers want to see us build. As user roles impact all areas of the product, there are many considerations we must factor in when assessing how to solve for majority of our customers needs.
We’re beginning to conduct research on the current landscape and how we might approach some of the most predominant needs in roles for our customers. Front footing this, the discovery of this work will be long winded and there will be multiple phases of research and forms of engagement with users that’ll help shape the path ahead in this space.
We’d like to invite you, our community to be part of this research and discovery. This may involve interviews…

Like many who have commented before, our requirement would be for users to be able to process purchase and sales ledger invoices without being able to see bank account details.

Hi Paul, it sounds like the Aged reports could be useful here. With either the Detail or Summary report you'll be able to set the Ageing periods before running the report - Or is there something else I'm missing here?

See an example I created in the demo co. below 📷

Hi community, first off thank you for the continued interest and feedback surrounding this idea. We’re continuing to build on the bank reconciliation experience in Xero and recognise the ways this feature will help improve the efficiency, flexibility and transparency of transactions in your business. Our team have done a lot of exploration into being able to surface and match Credit Notes when reconciling your bank account in Xero, and this is now in development.

We’ll shift the idea here into ‘Working on it’ and continue to update as there’s more detail of this to share.

@Kelly Munro - Morning Kelly, I am confused by your pinned comment of the 1st December 22. On one hand you are saying there is a team focused on this space, but in the following sentence you say there are no plans to add this feature. It doesn't make sense. Even though you say that you can see the value that making this change would make, you don't really say why you have no plans to implement it. Without explaining why, understandably, people draw their own conclusion that Xero, don't really value the feedback.

If you have had a team focused on this space for the past 10 months, what tangible return has there been for all this time/focus. This comment is not designed to knock Xero, but a little more clarity might stop Xero consumers from jumping to the wrong conclusion.

Hi community, we can see there’s lots of interest in this idea and appreciate all your feedback and comments. We absolutely understand the value that unapproving a bill would bring to your businesses. Unfortunately, while the concept is quite simple, the technical implementation within Xero is highly complex.

The good news is that our Product team is still keen to solve this problem for you. They have a possible solution and would love to hear your response to validate their thinking.

Put simply, instead of "unapproving", the solution would bundle the following tasks into a single action so that you can effectively "unapprove" a bill much faster.

    • Void the bill
    • Copy the bill
    • Reattach any files (IF any) from the voided bill to the copy of the bill

A primary caveat to this is you could only action one bill at a time. So, if you had multiple bills that…

Hi community, appreciate the want for more of an update from us on this highly voted idea. Since Kelly’s last message I am pleased to let you know that our product team has done some discovery work in this space. More specifically, exploring the different ways in which the problem could be solved in Xero, alongside understanding the technical challenges. The feedback you’ve shared has been really useful for our product team’s research 🙏

We recognise the importance of needing to know which bills are flagged, so people making payment can review whether a bill should be paid or not, to avoid inadvertent payment. Being able to improve this workflow is important to us and once we have solution concepts, we will be sure to reach out to this community for feedback.

Right now there are no specific time frames available as to when this might be worked on, but…

Hi Neil, this looks like a decent workaround, I might adopt this method. It’s just a shame and frustrating that the consumer has to develop imperfect workarounds when a perfect solution is well within reach.

And I feel that this particular problem like a few other problems that have a high vote count has dragged on so long now, that even if ( and it’s a big if) Xero addressed the issue with a permanent fix, there would still be a sour taste left in the mouth over it.

I was a Sage dinosaur, and came to Xero because my director had his ‘head turned’.

At the time Sage was being left behind in their field, but I think they have done a lot of work on their package recently and I wonder if it is worth another look now.

Yes, totally agree with Jain. This seems like it could be a reasonably uncomplicated change that would save me heaps of time. I have one or two customers who pay 300+ invoices at a time and I am forever scrolling.

We appreciate all the feedback received through this idea, everyone. Taking on board all your comments there are two sides of the fence when looking at flagging an invoice as 'in dispute' - Looking at the ability to flag a bill/supplier invoice as 'in dispute', versus the ability to flag a customer invoice as 'in dispute'. It'd be good to get understanding of the interest in each individually so we've started a new idea for bills that you can add your support for. But to give clarity, currently we do not have plans for developing a flag for bills, or sales invoices. For those looking for this feature in sales invoice although not specific to each invoice, you may be able to make use of Credit Limits - Find out more and explore how to set up a limit for your customers through Xero Central. We'll continue to track the…

For whatever this is worth, I am going to add my voice to this idea. I can see lot's of frustrated comments in the comments section.

At the moment I am using Hubdoc for 95% of my supplier invoices and I am sending them straight to 'Awaiting Approval'. This allows me to use the 'drafts' section to place all my supplier invoices in query. Not ideal but it's a workaround that works for me for now.

Apologies if this has been requested elsewhere - please merge with any similar suggestions.

I would like to see an 'allocate in full' button when allocating credit notes against invoices in the credit allocation screen. At the moment, there is only an 'Amount to credit' box which has to be manually input. From a personal POV, this can be time consuming because I sometimes have to allocate a single credit note against multiple invoices. The current situation is also 'unfriendly' because the balance left to credit is often at the foot of a very long list of invoices and so I have to keep scrolling to the bottom of the screen to see what's left to allocate.
