Hi everyone, we appreciate all your feedback on how we could evolve roles for customers using Xero. As you can see through the ideas on the platform, there are a wide range of combinations of permissions our customers want to see us build. As user roles impact all areas of the product, there are many considerations we must factor in when assessing how to solve for majority of our customers needs.
We’re beginning to conduct research on the current landscape and how we might approach some of the most predominant needs in roles for our customers. Front footing this, the discovery of this work will be long winded and there will be multiple phases of research and forms of engagement with users that’ll help shape the path ahead in this space.
We’d like to invite you, our community to be part of this research and discovery. This may involve interviews…An error occurred while saving the comment An error occurred while saving the comment Stuart Mohamed commentedLike many who have commented before, our requirement would be for users to be able to process purchase and sales ledger invoices without being able to see bank account details.

Hi everyone, to keep you updated on this idea work in this space will provide the ability to add a new blank row to your invoice one at a time. Once added you'll also have the ability to drag and drop the row to where you'd like it placed in your invoice, which we know some customers use to help format their invoices and space lines out.
I appreciate that some customers have mentioned wanting to add multiple blank rows at once, and want to be open that this isn't planned with this release.
Being under development atm, we plan to have this to you all before classic invoicing is retired and I'll be back as soon as it's out to let you know, here.

Thank you for your on-going input and attention to the idea here, everyone.
We will keep you updated on change for being able to add new tracking options when using new invoicing here, however if there are other items that you'd like to see developed please do make sure you've joined and are following updates for these too.
I can confirm our team have work underway to improve the line item grid where you enter detail of your invoice. Part of this work includes the ability to add new tracking options without navigating away from the invoice.
For now we'll move this idea to working on it and I'll be back to share when there's more news of this going live for you all.

Hi everyone, some time on since my last update I wanted to give you more of an idea of the work we have going on to help reduce the number of steps and actions in new invoicing. Along with the changes mentioned in my last update, we've since released a change to the view of an invoice to shift details back into their own columns (similar to classic), while a small change we know it's improved visibility for some of our customers.
We also have other work in development atm that’ll further help here like a new line item grid when editing your invoice - wrapped up in this we’ll be introducing changes you’ve been asking for like the ability to create a new tracking option or account code without having to navigate away from the invoice, we’re increasing the number of items that you can view from the drop…

Hi everyone, thank you for your feedback on this here. Through testing we found that majority of our customers would Approve and email an invoice at once, which is why this was developed as the default in new invoicing. That said we appreciate others would like a different action as their primary option.
While we don't have direct plans for adding the ability to set a default for this action, we're listening to your feedback and looking into how we can improve efficiency and speed things up for you when using new invoicing through the use of keyboard shortcuts. We'll share more news when we've confirmed what this shortcut looks like and are closer to providing this to you all.

Hi community, first off thank you for the continued interest and feedback surrounding this idea. We’re continuing to build on the bank reconciliation experience in Xero and recognise the ways this feature will help improve the efficiency, flexibility and transparency of transactions in your business. Our team have done a lot of exploration into being able to surface and match Credit Notes when reconciling your bank account in Xero, and this is now in development.
We’ll shift the idea here into ‘Working on it’ and continue to update as there’s more detail of this to share.
An error occurred while saving the comment Stuart Mohamed commented@Kelly Munro - Morning Kelly, I am confused by your pinned comment of the 1st December 22. On one hand you are saying there is a team focused on this space, but in the following sentence you say there are no plans to add this feature. It doesn't make sense. Even though you say that you can see the value that making this change would make, you don't really say why you have no plans to implement it. Without explaining why, understandably, people draw their own conclusion that Xero, don't really value the feedback.
If you have had a team focused on this space for the past 10 months, what tangible return has there been for all this time/focus. This comment is not designed to knock Xero, but a little more clarity might stop Xero consumers from jumping to the wrong conclusion.Stuart Mohamed supported this idea · -

Hi everyone, we appreciate wanting to hear from us on this idea and apologies for not commenting sooner. I can assure you this has not gone unnoticed and internally there have been reviews and discussions for how batch payments can be improved. We have the appetite, but as with all developments this must be weighed up and considered against many other important changes needed in product.
We want to be upfront that developing the ability to include Credit notes in Batch payments has not been planned at this stage.
As some may have seen, we do have work going on around being able to include Credit Notes as part of the reconciliation process. We understand for many on this idea the timing of including credit notes when you’re creating the batch payments is crucial, however we hope that when delivered at least being able to reconcile these more efficiently…

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the possible solution we shared a few months ago. After careful consideration taking all feedback on board, we will not be moving forward with this solution.
We're still considering how we might solve for the issues presented here over the long term and there are other pieces of work the team are currently delving into such as duplicate bills detection that may also help solve some needs here.
That said, we'll move the idea back to Submitted and continue to keep you updated on any progression that can help the needs expressed through the idea here. Thanks

We appreciate wanting to see more rapid movement, everyone. Having done a lot of exploration into this area our team have a good handle on the needs to solve this, however we want to be honest that development will be some time away with the team currently focused on improving bills list views and updating add/edit bill pages. For the time being to keep you up to date we're going to move this idea back to Submitted until more active work takes place for this.
I can assure you this idea is the best place to be leaving feedback for this feature, and Xero Product Ideas as a whole is the best place to be sharing where you'd like to see change across Xero products. As a community team we're advocating on your behalf constantly to see where ideas can be worked on, and this site is where our product…
An error occurred while saving the comment Stuart Mohamed commentedHi Neil, this looks like a decent workaround, I might adopt this method. It’s just a shame and frustrating that the consumer has to develop imperfect workarounds when a perfect solution is well within reach.
And I feel that this particular problem like a few other problems that have a high vote count has dragged on so long now, that even if ( and it’s a big if) Xero addressed the issue with a permanent fix, there would still be a sour taste left in the mouth over it.
An error occurred while saving the comment Stuart Mohamed commentedI was a Sage dinosaur, and came to Xero because my director had his ‘head turned’.
At the time Sage was being left behind in their field, but I think they have done a lot of work on their package recently and I wonder if it is worth another look now.

An error occurred while saving the comment Stuart Mohamed commentedYes, totally agree with Jain. This seems like it could be a reasonably uncomplicated change that would save me heaps of time. I have one or two customers who pay 300+ invoices at a time and I am forever scrolling.

An error occurred while saving the comment Stuart Mohamed commentedFor whatever this is worth, I am going to add my voice to this idea. I can see lot's of frustrated comments in the comments section.
At the moment I am using Hubdoc for 95% of my supplier invoices and I am sending them straight to 'Awaiting Approval'. This allows me to use the 'drafts' section to place all my supplier invoices in query. Not ideal but it's a workaround that works for me for now.

I would like to see an 'allocate in full' button when allocating credit notes against invoices in the credit allocation screen. At the moment, there is only an 'Amount to credit' box which has to be manually input. From a personal POV, this can be time consuming because I sometimes have to allocate a single credit note against multiple invoices. The current situation is also 'unfriendly' because the balance left to credit is often at the foot of a very long list of invoices and so I have to keep scrolling to the bottom of the screen to see what's left to allocate.
The option to exclude someone's ability to see the bank balance should be a given in any level of user permissions.
