Hey community - this is now delivered 🎉

Last week our NZ Tax team rolled out an update to fulfil this request.

When a new IR6B Beneficiary schedule is created, and a relationship exists, Xero will now populate the date of birth and address from the client record.

Thanks again for all the feedback around this idea! If there's further improvements you'd like to see in Xero Tax, be sure to share them with our team here on Product Ideas.

  2. Ability to make Hubdoc can run normally when there are more than 1,000 contacts in Xero.

Purpose: It will improve the workflow of the user when they’re using Hubdoc, and they don’t have to merge/delete the contact in Xero.

Hello community, we're pleased to let you know that our Hubdoc team has implement a fix that was causing slowness for those users with large Xero Contact lists, especially for those of you who have more than 1,000 contacts. So you'll notice a big improvement in Hubdoc speed now.

Thank you for your input here everyone! I'll move the status of this idea to 'delivered' so the votes can be returned to you all 🙂.

  3. Xero HQ Filleted Accounts without Dividend Note

There should be a facility whereby the notes to the full accounts can be edited for the filleted accounts so that not all are disclosed at Companies House, such as, & very importantly the 'Dividend' note

Hi everyone, thanks for your feedback on this idea. As part of our recent improvements to the notes & disclosures for FRS 1021a accounts, the dividends note is now included within the Directors report which isn't submitted to Companies House. We appreciate there is further work to do to maximise the flexibility here and always appreciate your feedback so please continue to add new ideas.

  4. Automatic exemption of national insurance contributions for clients over state pension age. In many other accounts production softwares this is already automatic and is calculated from the date of birth. The more manual input there is, the more room for error and this is something that could easily be missed by someone who is used to automatic functions.

Hi everyone, I'm pleased to update you all that this feature has now been released!

Now, if you enter a date of birth and the client has a trade, Personal Tax will automatically set Class 4 NIC to exempt where the client has turned state pension in the prior year. 🙂

  5. Chart of Accounts
Xero HQ import personalised chart of accounts, the current process does not allow the report name to be included. This requires editing of the chart once imported to the client. Would be helpful to have this field available to update the chart templates, saving staff time amending all charts.

    • Ability to update the start and due dates directly in the new job manager (currently still need to go into each job directly and edit to change these dates)

    • Ability to search for specific clients with active jobs in the search bar (currently can only search the job number and job name).

So far our team is loving the new job manager on XPM - has made our workflow process much easier and efficient!

Thank you for your patience! We're excited to let you know that you can now use the search bar in the All Jobs tab to look for jobs by a multitude of criteria, including client name.

No matter how you structure your jobs, you can find the jobs relevant to the task at hand either using the client name, job description, job number or the job name - Now that you can do all this in the All Jobs tab, we've also removed the Search tab in Job Manager as it's no longer needed (All Jobs has feature parity with the Search tab).

Appreciate starting a new idea specifically for Job start and end dates and we'll be sure to update you all there, if there's any news for this. 🙂

  6. The client export only downloads the clients Name, phone number, email and business structure. It would be very handy if we could export ALL the data which should be simple given the addtional columns already exist.
It would also be helpful if you could also sort the other columns on the view screen rather than just the client names.

  7. Xero org name - this would be handy at client level. We currently put this information into the Contacts (e.g. Contact: ABC Dogs Position: Xero org known as this), with the improved Contacts field its not an appropriate place to put this information anymore. We have put it here as we can search for it, when applying Xero subs this is the only way we can identify this client with XPM.

    Hey community,

This has now been delivered 🎉 as part of our move to a Single Client Record, you’ll now see a link to a client's Xero Organisation when viewing their profile in Xero Practice Manager.

Heads up! This field syncs with Xero HQ and can’t be edited in XPM. If you need update the Xero Organisation, make the changes in your Xero HQ Client record first and they'll appear in XPM 😊

  8. It would be great if there could be a column added for Staff and or Manager. You can filter it by Staff by having it all in one place would be easier to workflow etc as you can customise it for month by month or whatever option, then and also Partners can then see whos working on what in one place

Hey community, thanks for all your feedback around this idea - this is now live!

Earlier this month we rolled out some changes to the Job Manager in XPM, and you'll now have the option to include three additional columns in the 'All Jobs' menu.

In addition to 'Staff assigned' we've also included a column for 'Manager assigned' and 'Partner Assigned'.

You can see how that looks in the attached screenshot 👇🏻

  9. I have just discovered Xero Tax can't do Trust Income pages. We need the full suite for Self Assessment.

Please select 'New schedule' and then 'Trust and estates' in order to add this income.

Hi community, returning to the idea we wanted to confirm. When using Cash Coding to reconcile, you can enter the customer/supplier name into the Payee column, and this will create a Receive/Spend Money transaction for that contact.

However, if the payment relates to an invoice or bill, please use Find & Match to reconcile it, not Cash Coding, as this would create a duplicate account transaction.

  11. The new report that replaces Customer Invoice Report called Receivable Invoice Summary, is missing a very important function, the ability to report in the currency that it was invoiced in. The report only shows the converted FX amount in AUD.

Hi community 👋, our Reporting teams been making a lot of improvements to the newer versions of reports to enhance for the 2features we know customers value most in the older versions.

Recently, they released an improvements to both the Receivable and Payable Invoice Summary and Detail reports so you can now add currency columns to view invoices in the original currency they were invoiced.

If you prefer this view, once you've added the columns to your reports you can save as Custom to make this easily accessible any time. 😁

  12. Having the ability to query all of the data in the background. It's frustrating that you can't see certain fields (eg. invoice number) on the account transaction report so are forced to use the Receivable invoice detail or summary report instead and yet this report doesn't allow you to see all of the fields available in the Account transactions report. I appreciated that not every transaction will have an invoice/bill number so just so "-" or blank when it doesn't apply. Doing this will have a huge impact on the ability to actually use the data available in a client…

  13. Currently when selecting "Profit/(Loss) on disposal of fixed assets" as an iXBRL tag, it only works where there is a profit, and therefore whether it's a profit or a loss, it shows it as income in the P+L on the accounts.

Xero Support have suggested posting here to gather support for a "Loss on Disposal of fixed Asset" code that hits the Expenses categories, and changing the Income one to "Profit on Disposal of fixed asset".

Personally, on the basis that the existing code isn't flexible, I don't know why this isn't how it was set up originally.

    Hopefully gathering…

Hey Jason, thanks for starting this idea. We're pleased to share that this change is now live! Our product team have added a second tag for profit and loss on disposal to cater for whether that results in a profit or a loss separately. For a loss on disposal an expense tag can now be selected which will also present a loss on disposal within expenses.

  14. The queries in workpapers are currently organised into query headings covering a number of areas. But there are some queries that don't fit into any of those sections neatly and can confuse clients when sent over.

It would be great if we could create our own headings for the Queries or if Xero could include a 'General' or 'Non-Categorised' section which these less specific queries can be grouped

    Hello community 👋

Thanks for sharing this idea,  I'm switching it over to Delivered!

The Query Heading is a free text field so you can manually create a new heading for all the different types that are not currently available to select. 😊

  15. Currently, in the UK you can export an iXBRL file from Xero Tax but if you try to import that file into other tax software it is not compatible and creates an error message in the other software.
This is an issue at my firm as the Tax department insists on using Alphatax for all CT Returns and this has meant that we cannot use Xero Tax to prepare statutory year-end accounts as we have to prepare the iXBRL tagging file in other software that is compatible with Alphatax.

Thanks for your input on this one, Louisa. Xero Tax now offers the option for our partners to continue utilising the automation and efficiencies of our accounts production tool for FRS 105 and FRS 102 1A and then export the iXRBL file into your existing Corporation Tax software, such as AlphaTax, to file the CT600. If that's the workflow for you, you'll notice some cool tweaks to the process such as the ability to manually adjust the tax provision in the accounts from the dashboard before filing them with Companies House. After creating a new filing you'll see the option on our 'Filing Options' screen where you can elect to prepare the CT600 in Xero or file it externally.

  16. Under new rules in Finance Bill 2023/24 (which was given Royal Assent on 22 February 2024), R&D intensive loss making companies can claim a repayable tax credit of 14.5% where their R&D expenditure is 40% or more of their total expenditure (rather than the 10% credit that applies from 1 April 2023).

Please can you build this functionality into Xero Tax, so that the 14.5% tax credit can be claimed for R&D intensive companies.

    See below for further details:

Hi community, this has now been released and we cater for enhanced Research & Development(R&D) intensive support (ERIS) allowing you to claim a higher rate of payable tax credit for R&D intensive companies. This update is available for accounting periods beginning on or after 1 April 2023.

  17. Foreign tax paid on employment, self-employment and other income.

On the individual self assessment tax return, we need the ability to fill in the boxes on page "F6" of the Foreign pages marked "Foreign tax paid on employment, self-employment and other income"? In particular, we need to fill in columns:

    A Country or territory code
    C Foreign tax paid
E To claim Foreign Tax Credit Relief put 'X' in the box
    F Taxable amount

I'm happy to share that this idea has been delivered! Xero Tax now supports every box on the SA106 on our existing Foreign income schedule for the 2023 tax year onwards. You can now add foreign tax on employment income, self employment income and FHL EEA profits from within the Foreign income schedule.

Thanks for supporting this idea 😊

  18. More complete information added to the Payment Report for personal tax, so that the Payment Reference and HMRC bank details are included as well as the amounts to be paid. Then this one page can be sent to the client and avoids a lot of additional time spent sending them separate info on how to pay and what the reference is. BTC do this really well

Hi everyone, we wanted to come back and confirm that as part of the compliance release for the tax year 2023/24 the payment details were added to the payment report. This should be visible to you now in the personal tax product.

The payment details default to HMRC Cumbernauld but If you'd like to change this, you can go to the Other return information schedule and "HMRC payment details" to select HMRC Shipley.

  19. Xero apparently creates and submits a CT600L when R&D is included on a return. I say apparently because you can't download it/see it but support assure me it is there and that is the idea, - we should be able to download this for review and aproval by client.

    Hey Community 👋

Just following on from Paul's last update, this is now live!

Xero Tax now supports the production of the CT600L for RDEC claims going forward.

For more information on this, check out our 'What’s available in Xero Tax' article over on Xero Central.
