Homepage - Set up multiple views (Basic, Intermediate and Advanced)
Have a few options so a basic user can cut down on the noise and just have bank accounts and the profit graph, for a new user this would be overwelming.
Hi everyone, we appreciate the attention this idea has been getting. It's really good to hear how we can continue to improve the Homepage for our differing customers needs. We understand not all the widgets maybe useful to every user, and the 'Customise' button will let you add or remove widgets to reduce what you see on the Homepage.
Taking on board feedback we're looking at the sizing of widgets and you'll find the 'Chart of Accounts' and 'Cash in and out' widgets are now smaller by default with an option to 'Make larger' - You can follow further updates for this on the idea here.
We have plans to dig deeper into possible 'view' options (like the different levels of views being asked here) in the new year and I'll share further updates here when this gets picked up. 🙂

The new system is incredibly annoying
I move a box like "Invoices due" to where I want it, then move another box into the place I want it.... all of a sudden everything has moved. This should be UX 101 but no, you have done something incredibly annoying

I agree with most comments on here, too busy, all blurs into one even with widgets removed. Would be good to have the option to keep the old view

Looks absolutely awful. Stop making changes and making the software worse. You're turning into the lovechild of Freeagent and QB

Far to busy, like an untidy desktop which I hate. Keep in the old format or as some have suggested give us the choice which to use

Why do we need change something that was already so functional. This is overwhelming for me an ive been a Bookkeeper for over 25 years! Seriously XERO give us the option to stay on the old version at least then people can choose what they want to use. Way too busy for me !! Keep it Simple..

The New Homepage. Wow - not in a good way! Did the person designing this not have their glasses on? It is so busy and so XXXXL Large!
The widgets and font are very large, which makes the screen visually overwhelming and difficult to work with for extended periods. From a practical standpoint, this also creates a confidentiality issue — financial information is now easily visible to anyone passing by in the office, which was not the case with the previous homepage. While I understand the need for change, this design would benefit from being toned down. Allowing users to customise widget sizes, font size, and layout would make a significant difference. A two-column layout instead of three. The old homepage was cleaner, less harsh, and far more comfortable for those of us who spend all day analysing figures. The current design increases eye strain and reduces privacy, both of which are serious concerns. A huge red flag concerning Privacy issue and must be looked at.

-ve signs are hard to read. Please use the accounting convention of brackets! Multiple font sizes are distracting - esp for neurotypical people. Graphs in corporate colours is a touch we use alot and mkes the homepage the "clients".In general - too much noise on the home page - less is more!! Boxes and sizing are better than "V1". Allow accountants to set what client can see

The ironic thing is that Xero is becoming more and more unusable for larger clients, the ones that would actually use these extra widgets.
There is so much missing/substandard functionality that for it's price point, Xero is no longer best in class.

I haven read through all the various replies and suggestion from your customers and just wanted to say thanks to Xero for listening to us all. There are a lot of people that don’t don’t seem to want to do anything apart from complain.
Xero needs to evolve otherwise it will become redundant and yesterday’s news. I personally believe the roll out of so many changes is exciting and I’m always looking forward to the next release.
The dashboard ad widgets desperately need updating and feel that the syft integration into the Xero group is smashing it out of the park!!

Idea is ok, but not the execution. Fonts are too large generally, graphs too large - can we have option to remove the graphs? The accounts watchlist scrolls unless I expand it - then it is way to big. Can't it go back to the way it was? The whole design is rather clunky. The bank bals next to each other in huge font does not work - the old display was much better. Agree with others comments.

WOWZERS the new Business Overview and overwhelming is way way too excessive for basic mum and dad clients. Seeing this our new clients will freak out and not want to even attempt to use the product.
I tried removing the excess widgets (left only the bank accounts, invoices and bills) but it was user saved not file.
I'm also mindful that of we spend time on removing widgets in each of our client file that is lost unpaid time.

Why are we forced to have things on the top bar we don't use? We keep getting increases in fees for things we don't use or want. Keep it simple and charge more for people who want those things. This is common customer service when running a business.

I really wished they would have a "widget" that had shortcuts for commonly used functions like "invoices", "expenses", "refunds" etc for a one click way to get to a commonly navigated place instead of having to go through the menus

This would be very overwhelming for the majority of my clients. Already I am looking at what information to take off the home page. It's far too busy & all over the place. Bank accounts will be in various places/no "easy to read" groupings" and will get lost.

Adding and removing widgets to customize the home page is already a current feature, so as long as each individual is still able to customize, which the beta prototype indicates, then there should be no need for 'set' view formats.

As long as we can customise the main screen, it does look good.

I agree with the comment below (Karen Hughes).
From the Homepage view I have just seen, for the small business accounts I do it is way too 'cluttered'. It would be useful if one could choose which views to include on the Homepage, so that most of them could be excluded. I would not need all that information there all the time, so personally I would rather see much less.
Also, too much information on the homepage could risk people viewing information which one would prefer to keep out of 'public' view. -

Definitely too much information - far too busy. I hope the customisation you talk about enables the removal of the excess tiles that small business users don't want or need. Some users simply want to log on and go directly to their tasks without being bombarded! I've also seen how useless this information can be once our accountant gets in there and shifts things around - so displaying things like chart of accounts, P&L, etc are a waste of time.

This would be such a good idea if it can be saved for individual users to enable those that do not want to see or do not need access to everything on the homepage
