Homepage - Resize Widgets
Homepage seems overly cluttered. Would be great to be able to resize widget tiles & have the ability to change the graph styles
Hi everyone, we know being able to have more control over widgets on your Homepage will improve our users experience and want to share a quick progress update on where things are at:
Currently the Cash In & Out and Chart of Accounts Watchlist widgets have toggle options for smaller and larger size options.
Right now, our product team is actively working on expanding and improving size optionality (rather than just the ‘larger’ ‘smaller’ selections) to more widgets - This will include the Invoices Owed to You, Bills to Pay, Chart of Account, Cash in and Out and Recent Invoice payments widgets. The approach we’re taking will give you additional size selections for these widgets, and more customisation of what’s shown within the widgets.
Understanding from feedback, that our customers are looking for even more flexibility beyond these size options, our team is continuing to explore further enhancements that'll be considered in future planning.
I'll be sure to post an update here as each new widget size option is released.
We thank everyone for their engagement and sharing which improvements will make the biggest impact for you here, to help us build and shape the homepage experience.

While resizing is welcome, giving users the ability to group all bank accounts in a single "bank account" widget would solve an underlying issue with the current Dashboard when using Xero on a laptop and the desire to resize widgets.
This logic has already been applied to the phone app, but the same thought does not yet appear to have been given to people working on computers.
The change would help both the layout problems caused by having to have a single widget for each bank account and the resulting Dashboard layouts which are incredibly hard to read and work with, irrespective of resizing options. Consequently this change would make the resizing options more meaningful (inc. reshaping and changing font size), thereby also helping to avoid the constant need to scroll up and down the screen due to bank account widgets taking up too much room.

What is going on with the home page this morning? For one brief moment, I saw the old home page and thought this is great - Xero have actually listened to their customers for a change, and have given me the option to revert to a much less child-like layout - however, on the next click, I was reverted the the new page again. Disappointed isn't the word! Come on Xero, if you can revert back for a few minutes, can't I have the much less cluttered, less like a childs project, SMALLER font, old style home page????

I find the new layout an absolute cluttered mess. It is not an improvement on the previous User experience. I understand that you want to create a dashboard that embodies more insights and flexibility, but the price of this is a visual mess. I am guessing that your developers who work on this are not bookkeepers, accountants or finance managers, and they don't relate to the negative impact of all this desktop clutter.

Please revert to the old layout. This new layout / screen is overwhelming and just too much in general. The old layout was easy to read at a glance and the appearance (lines around boxes etc) was much easier on the eye.
Absolutely hate this new version -

I've had to take all widgets off my desktops because they are visually overwhelming and not actually that useful. Loads of clients and having to do it on every single one.

Please enable users to fix this hideous mess!
Even the ability to put the widgets WHERE THE USER WANTS THEM would be helpful.
Instead, we have an ugly splattering of widgets that are more hinderance to work flow. Especially if, like me, you are using a lot of bank accounts.
UGLY, HORRIBLE, IMPEDES WORK FLOW.
Here's a novel approach - make good on the promises to make this New Homepage editable. Now, not some time in the far distant future. -

Hi Kelly, not sure if this is to what David refers, but your statement is only correct when there are transactions to reconcile.
When everything is reconciled the CTA button reverts to a "View account transactions" button.
That said, even if you just remove that CTA button, the actual problem will not be rectified as the issue that each widget is fixed height as a factor of the grid's row height will continue to pose issues in the widgets being larger (i.e. taller) than they need to be.

PLEASE GIVE THE OPTION TO REMAIN ON THE OLD SCREEN LAYOUT
The new version is clunky, it's hard to look at and organise - really bad user interface, I hate it -

I'm confused as to why the video tutorial shows there is an option to "Make Smaller" on the widget, but in reality there is no option to change the size of any of the widgets showing on my screen. I'd much rather they were smaller and more discreet in a shared working space. No need to shout the numbers about.

On my screen - the outline of the different boxes pulses / moves. Like the worst trigger for a migraine sufferer. Why does the outline need to move - even after I decluttered the page it was still doing my head in.
The different size boxes does my head in too !!
The old version was perfect - don't fix what is not broken.

I don't use the Cash in and out, and Chart of accounts watch list widgets. In any case, they won't fit with my 14 bank accounts. Or with the Bills to Pay and Invoices Owed, which I use daily. When I am forced to use the new homepage, all I have space for is a jumble of bank accounts which mess with my vision.
WHEN are you going to fix this problem by enabling resizing? -

Sorry --- It's annoying and pathetic.
I've tried to move the boxes to where I WANT THEM TO BE and it just rearranges the whole shooting match when I try to get things into a logical working layout.

Hmmm - it was perfectly fine before, so why alter it?
It now looks like some 16 year old on fortnight's work experience has designed it. What's due next flashing colours, expolding text?
If it ain't broke, then don't fix it!
The new homepage is cluttered, the boxes are all too big and it's SUPPOSED to be a home page with a basic view to see the up-to-date position of the company at a glance.

The chart of accounts widget .... has a scroll bar???
What the heck?
The whole point of the dashboard - surely - is to be able to see the things you want to see .... I should not have to either make larger, or scroll.
Give me strength (and the current view). -

Font, format, negative numbers with minus signs not brackets, lack of graphs on bank icons.......Etc etc etc......really poor experience.....I have had to turn them all off on all client's!

On the old home screen I could see all my watch accounts in one glance. Now I have a box twice the size with half the information and I need to scroll through it to see all the accounts - hardly handy and much easier to miss things. There seems to be way less flexibility around resizing everything and, as with most "improvements" in Xero, is focused way more on how pretty it looks, not how usable it is. I'll ask again - have your development team ever run a business?

The widgets are simply too big, the font size of the figures is too big. There is no degree of privacy as the numbers can be read by anybody passing by. The old format was ideal for readability and size.

This new dashboard is really, really disappointing. Still no feedback on anything.
