New Homepage - Toggle to blur sensitive information on homepage
Homepage PRIVACY - If could could please add a button, close to the top of the page, that allowed for sensitive data to be blurred with one toggle on/off. Sometimes you may still want to login and use something in a more public space, or perhaps show someone something in the system, but you do not want all your figures on display. I think this is quite an important one.
✨ Thanks so much for sharing your feedback on being able to blur or conceal sensitive bank information on the new Xero homepage.
Our community team have reviewed this idea and it’s now in Gaining support, which means it’s open for votes and comments from other customers who’d also benefit from more privacy controls on the homepage. ✨
While we’re still exploring additional options but there are a couple of protections already in place today:
- ✨ Access to banking information on the homepage is controlled by user roles and permissions, so only users with the right level of access can see sensitive banking data. This is the Invoice Only permissions.
- ✨ You can customise the homepage to show or hide bank accounts, so you’re not surfacing accounts you don’t want on your dashboard.
We’ll keep monitoring the interest and the use cases shared here as we look at how to improve privacy and control of banking information on the homepage. Please keep adding your votes and specific scenarios – this really helps our product team understand where solutions like this would make the biggest difference. ✨

A useful feature would be the option to blur or hide bank balances on the screen. Many businesses work in shared offices or around team members, and sometimes the full bank balance does not need to be visible while doing everyday tasks like reconciling transactions or entering bills. A simple toggle to blur or hide the balance would help maintain a level of financial privacy when working around coworkers, clients, or visitors. Users could reveal the balance when needed, similar to how some banking apps hide sensitive information by default. This would make it easier to work comfortably in shared environments without exposing sensitive financial details unnecessarily.

Love the landing page, however today when bringing a staff member in to show them an invoice, we opened to the landing page - it has numbers in big bold and it shocked them; leading to questions.
If a client or non-finanicial business user happened to see this screen whilst bringing up an invoice, with the wrong "lense" applied to the figures they may infer the wrong idea.
Would be great for all numbers to flick up as "Private" then a toggle to undo. Option to permanently toggle off for back office staff, but for front office team, can see the privacy would be really needed. -

Quite happy with the new format however as a landing page it is not such a good idea to have the figures of the bank accounts etc so bold - please reduce the size of these figures !!!

Great suggestion Pete- despite a privacy screen attachment on my PC, if a staff member is standing directly behind me, they can see the account balance on the dashboard very clearly. I think this feature would be great for privacy.

I think the home page should be setup by an Advisor for lower levels of security. There is way too much information on there available. We are having to change to another program for lower level access seats as this is becoming more common and there isn't enough control within Xero

On the Dashboard and Bank Accounts pages, the bank balance could be greyed out for better privacy. There could be a simple toggle control to hide and show the numbers on the screen.

Please provide a privacy button on dashboard that can be toggled on / off
Quickbooks does this, why can’t Xero?
