Salutation missing?
Where has the Salutation field gone?
It used to be available in Client Details and Additional Contacts and was used across multiple templates, including invoicing and merge-based applications. With this field removed, client correspondence is now appearing blank where the greeting should be.
Using [ContactName] or [FirstName] is not a workable substitute:
• For some primary contacts, it returns no name at all
• In other cases, it defaults to the full name (for example, “Hello John Peter Smith”), which is not appropriate for client correspondence
Please reinstate the Salutation field.
If that is not possible, at a minimum please add a [FirstName] merge field that works consistently for BOTH clients and primary contacts, so templates can be set up correctly.
This was a simple, practical feature that worked well and is relied on in day-to-day practice communications.
Thanks for raising this – you’re right that salutation is a bit harder to find in the new experience, but it is still available.
At the moment, salutation isn’t editable from the quick Additional contacts pop‑up. To view or update it, you’ll need to open the full contact record:
- From a client record
- Open the relevant client.
- Under Additional contacts, click the contact’s name (rather than the three dots).
- This opens the full Contact details screen.
- From here you can view and edit Salutation (and Addressee and Mobile), then save.
From the Contacts list
- Go to Clients > Contacts.
- Search for and open the relevant contact.
- Update the Salutation field and save.
Again, your feedback here helps us prioritise that work, so thank you for sharing it.😊
