Sales Invoices - Issue progress payments on invoices for project/instalment
Ability to issue progress payments on quotes /invoices to percentage claim certain items or expenses.
Purpose: Users can see the progress of the payments from their customer just from one invoice instead of sending separate invoices.
Thanks for everyone’s continued support in this idea. We’d like to update here that accepting a deposit on an invoice is now live to all organisations that use Stripe in AU, NZ, UK, US, CA and SG with remaining regions soon to come.
We know this doesn’t yet cover fuller progress-payment and instalment workflows, and we recognise those are important for many of you. We’ll keep returning here with more news as work in this space evolves.

This is an absolute critical functionality, and I believe would be for many businesses. It's a shame that currently due to gap of Xero not capable to offer it many organizations would have to look into 3rd party tools probably forcing then to move away from Xero.

Our company needs this option as our quotes or purchases orders from clients comes with different stages on it. The time between stages can be 1 or 2 months, so invoice client as soon as one stage is completed is an alternative that Xero's should offer in the sofware.

Please our company really needs this for our invoicing. We are constantly having to send separate invoices and deducting all the other invoice amounts so that they are left with a total amount owing.
it is time consuming. PLEASE CAN THIS BE LOOKED AT URGENTLY

we are offering payments over 12 months / Biannual and would like the ability to add multiple due dates so the invoices age correctly.

This is something we truly need, our work is fixed price, we send progress invoices as the work/project is being done

This would be a very valuable feature for our business. Many clients ask us how to make part payments through Xero payment services, however they are not able to.
It is 12 years since you shared this idea (in 2012) and I am surprised Xero does not have the resources to make this feature active by now...I am not impressed with Xero since I have started using it 6 months ago. -

It's shocking to me that in 2024 this isn't already an option. I have a client I'd like to move over from QBO, but we use progress invoicing extensively.

As a service-based business (graphic design), 99% of my business is done on, at a minimum, a 2-payment basis (deposit and final payment). Many jobs involve several milestone payments. Creating multiple invoices for one job is not ideal, to put it mildly. The inconvenience factor aside, it totally negates your "hey! make your life simple and just convert a quote to an invoice!" nifty sound bite on your quotes. Please do take care of this!!

This is super important for us a villa rental agency where part of the payment it taken on booking and then the second instalment 8 weeks prior to the holiday. It would be such a good feature to have.

Please sort this out Xero.
All our work is project based with a percentage invoiced at each stage of the project. It is messy in Xero and unprofessional. -

Like others on this string, being able to invoice a progress amount whether that be hourly rate or percentage completed (all with variations) is simply a basic function of carrying out ongoing projects.
The invoicing platform as it stands is a very simple one of payment for goods and services rendered arrangement and does not incorporate longer terms 'project' invoicing requirements.
As it stands, I need to create and invoice document, PDF then attached to the Xero invoicing platform then email the invoice, through Xero without the Xero generated invoice to avoid hacking attempts. I am essentially using Xero as a postbox.
Surely this is a priority -

This is such a simple functionality, can't understand why this would not be implemented already

This is really important for us too.
Xero seem to ignore requests for this, it has been raised many times before, see another link below and no action on this one from Xero either?: -

100% this
This is the most basic function that an invoicing function must have for most businesses today. Partial payments are part of the business. I am so surprised this was missed in the development stage. As for me, it would be impossible to use a software without this capability.

Guys, this feature has never arrived, can progress invoices be made a priority? Ideally when selecting the task to invoice you can put a % complete next to it for invoicing this time.
