E-Invoicing - PEPPOL Compliance
Ability to send invoices through PEPPOL network.
Purpose: To comply with the European standard of e-invoicing and e-ordering. Especially for those who deal with the public sector.
Hi team, we apologise for the delay in updating this idea - In December 2025 Xero began supporting Peppol eInvoicing for some EU countries including Belgium, Ireland, Malta, Austria, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czechia, Estonia, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Portugal, Slovakia, and Slovenia.
Eligible organisations in these regions can now register for, send, and receive compliant Peppol e‑invoices and credit notes with Xero.
Along with the countries above, Xero supports eInvoicing in Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Malaysia and Singapore.
Looking forward, we’d like to get a good gauge of our users interest in supporting eInvoicing in other regions. It's best for us to track this for each region customers are interested in. We have existing ideas related to support for France and Spain that we’d like to point you to vote on, or please do create a new one for your region so we can begin to get a sense of interest. Thanks

Your latest comment on this is from October 7th. We are almost in December 2025 and there is no update from you on this. As mentioned by others in this thread as well as myself, this integration is CRITICAL and your response that it does not impact UK suppliers to Belgian businesses is absolutely no help whatsoever.
Please can you confirm this is being rolled out this month. Othwerwise many of your customers will be forced to go elsewhere.
Your lack of urgency on this, and lack of appreciation of the disruption and problems it is causing your customers, is simply not acceptable. -

We have a client who is UK based and trades across Europe, in particular Germany and France, so they are going to need this functionality in order to both send and receive digital invoices. The sooner this is implemented the better.

Hi, we need this urgently. Currently evaluating other solutions because Xero not having support in EU. We run business in UK, Spain and Netherlands and it is a mandatory requirement starting next year 2026 in Spain and soon in the Netherlands too. Can you confirm you are working on this?

We are a UK business with a subsidiary in Belgium. Many of the services we rely on in Belgium invoice our UK head office and require PEPPOL compliance. Please can this be implemented through Xero asap.

Is there any news on this? We really need it for our Belgian subsidiary - we are already being asked for this by our Belgian suppliers.

I also need to send invoices to a Belgian government agency from 1/1/26. They are asking me to do this now but I will beg them to process the current invoice as a pdf and pray the Xero e-invoicing from UK to Belgium is ready in time for that deadline.
Thanks for keeping us updated. -

This is important to our business. To send, and even receive, Peppol invoices for Belgium. We are at risk holding off on a feature with no confirmed dates, so any transparency here is valued. Thanks.

As it is now November now, do you have any updates on this?
As the deadline for Belgium is quickly approaching and we need to ensure that we remain compliant and do not need to find another supplier for this requirement.

Echoing earlier comments around the compulsory requirement to send eInvoices through Peppol in Belgium from January 1st 2026.
When will this be available for Belgian entities?

The legal requirement in Belgium to send all invoices via PEPPOL as per 1 January is ONLY BETWEEN BELGIAN vendors and customers.
In a later phase, it will become mandatory between European entities according to an EU directive. This means it’s not as urgent as it seems from an Australian pov.
However, since Xero is already PEPPOL compliant, how hard can it be to support sending/receiving invoices between an Australian/Belgian suppliers/customers? -

Hi Xero Team,
As from the 01/01/2026 it will be compulsory in Belgium to send eInvoices through Peppol only.
How confident are you that this will be possible and how soon?
We are in a position where we may need to switch to a new accounting software for our different entities to make sure we comply with this new law.

Kelly, it is good to know that Xero are finally looking into this, as many of your clients not only send invoices from UK to Belgium and other EU countries but have local EU entities as well so this is essential for us. I do hope that Xero appreciates the seriousness of this as Xero is quickly becoming unusable in the EU as it is not keeping up with developments.

Does anyone know of any other software that we can use that does this?
We send out 80% of our membership invoices (many to european government organisations) on January 1st, so we need a plan if Xero does not allow this in time.

Hi, I would like to add to all the others pointing out that this will be mandatory in Belgium from 1st January 2026 and France September 2026, yet there is no plan for Xero to accomodate this, or any third party apps that will connect Xero to an Access Point. This is not a 'nice to have', it is essential for us to continue use Xero.

Hi, I am required to invoice a university in Greece via Peppol eInvoicing. There is no other way I can get paid unless I invoice this way. Can you provide a solution please?

Hi Kelly,
I understand that you have no timeframe for most of the EU countries however Belgium is going live with E-Invoicing in 2026 and we only have 3 months left.
Can the xero team acknowledge that this is an urgent issue and we need to know whether we can use xero or whether we have to move to another accounting plaftorm?
Thanks

As of 1 January 2026, Belgian organisations will be required to ensure Peppol compatibility. Do you have a timeline for when Peppol will be implemented in Xero?
Alternatively, could you please advise on providers that can support small businesses with registering invoices on Peppol AND can integrate easily with Xero (without the need for API development)?
